What STRAIN works the best for your condition?

I'm looking for strains that help me function better, companions, not scramblers.

I'm not growing any as yet, still zeroing in. Sour Diesel is my fave daytime med. Legs and lower back get heavy and sciatica pain fades. For some reason especially the lower back and legs. Head wise it's clear and pretty focused, with energy and sensory boost. No flutter unless you OD. For evenings so far Master Kush rules. Indiça effects but lovely focused clear subjective POV.

Dutch Treat is a good day time strain And GIRL SCOUT COOKIES another one I love.

Evening GDP or YODA.
For sleep!

BLUE DREAM for nausea!

The lower spine specific thing that Sour Diesel does I've only found in that strain, and in weaker form in related crosses.

But if you don't have those problems there are some other great energetic strains, like Red Congolese.

Blue Dream I got but found it very fluttery, you know, like a slide show in fast forward, hard to focus. Will have to give it another chance.

Trainwreck was the worst. Had to vape some high CBD stuff to get my head out of the card shuffler. A lot of Leafly profiles with a huge Euphoric bar seem to be strains with a strong THC level and not enough balancing from other cannabinoids like CBD, etc. Brain Fluttter. Some people like that.

I was looking for a place to start up a conversation about this subject. I too have been trying to keep track of what strain works for my pain. I have arthritis in my feet, ankles, hands and low back. I have a spinal stenosis of the low back and degenerative disc disease. I live in Wa state.

Recent tests of mmj obtained from dispensaries in WA state found that some strains are not what they report to be in name, chemical content or genetics.

A Seattle biotech exec and mmj patient teamed up with a local cannabis testing facility to analyze 22 samples of Harlequin, which is said to have low THC and high CBD content. They found that the samples were high in THC and had no CBD. There were other samples that varied in what they were labeled as to what the strain was.

There maybe some mislabeling and some fraudulent marketing. So this really would make it difficult to try to figure out what you were taking. I've wondered about the labeling?

Im sure there are plenty of reputable dispensaries out there. I've just started checking out the mmj dispensaries. I'm new to mmj. Or I should say buying legally at a dispensary, I've been buying from a close friend for the past 20+ years. I always get great quality here lately, years ago not always. There were times I got shitweed.

Dispensary herb is cheaper than buying on the down low, like half the price.

there's definitely some element of trust involved. I'm not 100% sure everything i've been getting from my caregiver is the listed strain, i'm hoping it always is. But, at least, none of it has been particularly different from they are described on leafly, i don't always get exactly the described taste / aroma, but everything has been recommended for stress and anxiety, and has legitimately been good for that purpose. The current grand daddy purp only has a little purple, but it does have a vaguely grape taste and is compact nuggets of varying sizes. I'm still evaluating the high, only got it yesterday.

You might even be able to find dispensaries that go through the testing places. I like the idea of the testing places, but worry it'll add cost.

Edit:
The cargiver has gotten me fairly reliable medicine, but i do still see the advantage of grabbing a particular strain from the dispensary. The caregiver hasn't regularly had the same stuff, but everything she's had has been reasonably effective anxiety medicine, much more reliably than the black market was.

THC Bomb has been working wonders on my chronic depression, insomnia, eating disorder and anxiety lately. I have been off high dosage SSRI's for a few weeks now and feeling better than ever.

I use short hits from my Persei/3.7v Hercules loaded with THC Bomb 2nd or 3rd run QWISO shatter to keep my social anxiety under control during the day (this works too well sometimes, I find this specific strain makes a particularly uninhibiting concentrate lol).

When I am feeling like things are getting a bit much depression wise, I just get a dab of the lovely lemon mirage that is the first run THC bomb QWISO shatter. Rock hard, almost clear as glass, completely changes my mood right away and lasts that way. I don't even need to dab more afterwards!

I came to vaporizing and concentrates from smoking 30 joints with tobacco a day, I had a ridiculous tolerance and I couldn't smoke enough to get any useful effects. I was riddled with terrible psych meds and in a really bad place.

Now, I use .1g of concentrates and .7g of flowers a day, down from the 6-7g of flowers a day I was having before. My wallet and my body are so much happier for it!

Finally, I find that any vaped flowers/concentrates from this strain are effective to keep me eating regularly and reasonably (to be fair, most strains are good like this). I have never been so productive as now that I have taken my medication into my own hands.

I think I am able to get by on less, when I was getting stuff that was less effective for the anxiety I'd be more inclined to keep vaping more to try and get that relief. I think with the right stuff only half a gram a day is really medically necessary most of the time. For monetary reasons i need to try and stick to just as much as i really need. I've been succeeding when i'm forced into it.

I have a link to some strain reviews in my signature, but for my nausea and anxiety, Mettrum Red #4 is one of the best strains I've tried. If I'm not mistaken, they were using the street name "White Shark" for it initially, but have since removed all traces of street equivalent monikers from their website. I understand that this makes them seem more legitimate as a provider of medication, but it irks me, because it makes it very difficult to compare my medication with that of other providers.

I came back to cannabis almost 3 years ago this August. 3 decades I stayed away!
THE DRUGS THE DOCTORS were giving me were making me worse?
I tried cannabis and I was like why don't the doctor's prescribe cannabis?
It works better with no side effect!

At first I only used concentrate then flowers. However I feel like I'm going full circle?
I haven't used my W9 Tech stuff lately.
However I will start using it again because for my sleeping problem (insomnia) shatter works the best.
I'm going with what I know and will use BHO and vacuum purge.
QWISO I will revisit at some point. Right now I need relief so I have to do what works for me.
Flowers during the day.
Before bed the SHATTER will knock me out.
In the morning my energy level is improved greatly.

I have ataxia (SCA) late on set.
The medical PROFESSIONALS never tell you that you can manage better with cannabis?

As a scientist, I am so disappointed at my colleagues in medicine for not exploring and harnessing the medical benefits of cannabis, in spite of the stupid UN conventions that get in the way of such work. Especially when the alternatives are benzodiazepenes, SSRI's and nothing in the case of the eating disorder (except for utterly unaffordable psychiatric treatment). I am trained in psychology. I teach it at uni to budding young psychologists/psychiatrists. I know how to diagnose illnesses, I am familiar with biochemistry, I am familiar with the nature of psych meds and the symptoms they are used to (generally crudely) treat.

Basically, in summation, all of this knowledge leads me to the conclusion that doctor's need to rethink the medicine they prescribe. Benzos for a mentally illl person with persistent insomnia? Are these people looking to cause addiction, withdrawals (which in this family of drugs, can cause death) and a much more serious drug problem than plenty of illegal substances? Are they looking to make the person not at all functional in the morning/afternoon when they wake up? Are they completely overlooking the fact that many of these benzos being given to psychiatric patients have listed side effects like suicidal ideation? Jesus Christ people!

SSRI's with side effects like akathisia (I had to deal with so much of this, made me look like there was something wrong with my brain and I didn't ever want to go out in public) are equally stupid. You wanna make a person who already has problems with self image have random twitches? @ataxian you would know extrapyramidal side effects and neurological side effects like this all too well no doubt. It is dreadful.

Yet apparently my doctor thinks my less than 0.7g intake of flowers and less than .1g intake of shatter is excessive to treat my symptoms. They had me on 20mg of lexapro a day plus 30-40mg of temazepam a night for sleep, seroquel if that didn't work. Go figure. I'm more functional now than I ever was on psych meds. My mood is much more stable, my anxiety at bay, my eating disorder for all practical purposes is non-existent so long as I have that constant mild case of the munchies which I successfully seek :)

By the way Ataxian my friend, if you ever find that you are having issues doing BHO/QWISO/QWET runs due to your medical condition, PM me and I'll happily help you out with a few cheap changes to your setup which will both speed up the process and make it more hands-off and automated. More time to medicate, less time making medication :D We people who produce our own meds ought to stick together! :)

Also, wow. Has anyone ever read the wikipedia article on Ataxia? Suggests that cannabis can cause cerebellar ataxia.

'This sounds interesting' I thought. I checked out the reference. http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5834a2.htm?s_cid=mm5834a2

To quote Bill Hicks: 'Wow, how fucking scientific!'.

Seriously, a single, anecdotal case of 6 teachers who have 'never used cannabis or illicit drugs' testing positive for cannabinoids they ate from a mysterious, never found 'street vendor' of brownies and reporting difficulty walking. What about those who use different strains, those who take in cannabinoids knowingly and are prepared for the effects? What about regular users of cannabis who have already been demonstrated to be little (not statistically significantly) more likely to have a car accident driving under the influence of cannabinoids? We know that cannabis is a drug that varies wildly in it's constituent chemicals and effects... How is this considered enough investigation of the topic to start saying that cannabis causes cerebellar ataxia!?

This is bad science from the CDC. How much more bad science is out there on the topic because researchers are constrained by arbitrary rules with no cogent basis in safety or sensibility?

Cannabis Causes ataxia?

I was afraid to try cannabis for my illness?
Demonized the world over?

Seriously I would not function if cannabis was not apart of my program.

Someone who takes drug's and demonizes cannabis?

Their science is false!

So glad you were able to find something that helps your illness. The meds the Dr are pushing are not always the best thing. Every pharmaceutical has a side effect. Some side effects are no big deal. Some side affects can kill you or damage a vital organ like your heart, kidneys or liver.

I would sleep walk?

Had to change my diet so I could talk?

Cannabis replaced 6 different drugs?
Without side effects!

Yes it's a real nightmare if anti inflammatory drugs and 99% of pain killers are out the more stoned I get the less I care about the pain.

hello fellow vape-a-roonies hehe.. indica strains are always listed better for pain.. i myself like the higher sativa strains..just because of the uplifting high.. i find it to get me more motivated to want to do things, instead of laying there couch locked.. more activity for me is better..i focus less on pain & more on doing things... just really hard in my opinion to not get hybrids ,,not knowing what the indica/sativa mix is.

I got some Grand Daddy Purp. It's compact nuggets of vary sizes and is vaguely grape or at least fruity in flavour. What i don't like is that contrary to a lot of what i've been getting it doesn't really give me much in the way of euphoria. But it does help calm me down, relax me, couch lock a bit. So it's reasonably good medicine, but the pineapple kush i had last was much better imo, real mood lifter and did most of the anti anxiethy stuff, just not couch lock. I wanted to try out the grand daddy for some good couchlock, but am finding i don't prefer it.

yeah, that's the problem, i only have like a half g of something else right now, need to have a whole medicine chest of various strains ideally, but the cash isn't there for it. Actually a buddy of mine, the gdp puts him out like a light. He enjoys it, but his girlfriend is getting pissed he's been passing out early.

The main possible upside is that i don't super enjoy the gdp, so it might last longer. unless i do my keep smoking looking for mood lift that isn't there routine.

Now I've got hold of some more Skywalker OG I had a good go with it last night after 2 lotus loads of Jacks cleaner. It really does have pain killing qualities and really helps sleep.

The anti inflammatory properties of SKOG is amazing and it lasts well into the next day if fact my joints feel better still.

The GDP I love however like you it makes me useless. So I find if I mix a Sativa at 20% or more I can medicate during the day.

It's all most were you need two strains and mix your medicine! (for desired effect)

One of each = INDICA and SATIVA

Make you own hybrid!

QUESTION:
Does any know anything about LOUIS 13, LA CONFIDENTIAL, HEROJUANA or BLACKBERRY KUSH?
@Quetzalcoatl you must know something about them?

Hasn't anyone tried these?
