Cheap quality vortex recycling rigs?

I decided to start this thread since I haven't seen any dedicated thread about it.

I'm looking for a cool recycling rig that creates a vortex (cyclone of water). Looking to pair it with my Nano (and probably the Lotus). I understand the design plays a big role in how well the cyclone flow appears, and don't really want to waste my money buying a non-functional rig

Being cheap, I don't want to spend and arm and a leg (trying to stay under $150). But the only rigs I've been seeing in my price range are the mini vortex rigs from Kathy over on Dhgate. I'm interested in something a bit bigger than those shown on the site - something maybe a bit larger than the infamous D020 would be my preference

So, what are your favorite vortex rigs under $150?

I'm not an expert but I have a strong opinion
No personal experience but there are a ton of recyclers on ioffer for decent prices. If you can't find someone here with one you like maybe ask for a water test vid?

I personally don't recall seeing any recycler, $150 or less, that has a worthwhile "vortex" effect. There's one exception, though. I believe the FC price for one of CGD's recyclers is $150 for a non-worked piece, and they have a mean vortex. Great deal, I'd be all over it if I wasn't so broke.

They do look a little bit bigger than what you are looking for though. And also you probably will have to wait a little bit as he seems to be hella busy.

Thanks!

I thought I heard CGD was around this price point, there has to be other decent ones for $150 and below.

Is there any other worthwhile rigs with vortex action in this price point? I'm seeing a few mini rigs over on the cheap bubblers thread, but those are tiny! I want something a bit bigger (or huge is fine, my nano should keep up!)

I personally have not seen any recyclers that can 'vortex' at that price point, aside from the one I mentioned. I don't know that this effect necessarily raises the price of a recycler, but I do know that the higher end models and well-made pieces that vortex are usually closer to the $300+ price point, in my experience. I had an Earl Jr. with a sweet vortex, but it was only 6" and it was definitely more than $150 :p. Who knows, though, with the progression of the China glass and cheap U.S. glass maybe there is something out there or will be very soon that can satisfy the vortex craving for the 'cheap' glass market.

Dabs are vapor too!
I think that Cory glass one is the best deal. My little recycler I got from kathy (it's too small for what you want) does seem to vortex a little. Not perfect like the Cory one, but interesting to watch.

I have Kathy's cycler. It's cute, but nobody is going to use it and say 'wow what a vortex!'. Really it comes down to if you want the vortex badly, $150 is about the minimum. If you just want some recycle action, that's different. I was going to quote a few glass artists that would do a recycler for 150 or less, but everyone I know seems to be raising prices, so info a month or two old is probably out of date already.

Edit: the ioffer one looks like it has really sloppy action, considering it's not really less money than a CGD one.

It takes time and research to properly get a piece to vortex. There are a few factors involved. Size of can, size of diffusion holes, size of vortex chamber, angle of supply tube. It takes a few hours to make a recycler that functions properly. Quality of glass stock also needs to be taken into account. I'll be willing to bet you won't find a decent quality piece under $200. Coreys pieces are really nice, but I'm going to bet they go up in price, because when demand outweighs supply we all know the outcome. When you spend $60+ on a single gram of concentrate I don't understand trying to get a recycler for less than 3gs of concentrate? Save your money for a week and get a quality piece that went break first time it falls over.

Heh, I had a feeling I was on to something.... It really sounds like it's hard to find a decent vortex piece for around the $150 price mark.

I'll probably check out Corey and see what he can do for me. But I am still interested to see what anyone else has found. Probably not placing and order for a few weeks since I doubt my wife will let me buy another vape related item for another few weeks! (damn VAS and GAS - thankfully my Nano arrived before she started bitching  )

@Vdabber - thanks for that ioffer link - hadn't seen that one before. I'm going to keep that one in mind before I make a final decision

The last piece I got from Bird has a strong vortex action to it. He's been doing a lot of drops lately, but I believe he can do anything similar to what he's posted before.

It's difficult to provide recommendations without firsthand experience or function vids. I found this recycler, which seems like a good deal, but there's no way to tell if it vortexes.

Oo, that's a good find, damit Syrupy! And just after I committed to buying a new turbine bubbler from Sunshinestore. $50 is a fair price to try it out, but it looks small, especially with a 14mm female joint

In my experience, most recyclers tend to be smaller than they appear to me from the pictures. A ruler or Bic lighter next to the piece is a must for me now. lol

Yeah I only get 14 male on those little guys. But size is relative--I was just looking at a 4-inch sidecar with a 2-inch can. Here's a bigger one, probably not a good vortexer (and double the cost of other one)

Bump! We need more cheap recyclers, are there any that people are curious about but haven't tried? I would be down to be a guinea pig and buy/test one out :)

Here's a quick picture. I can get a video later but it's not quite on the agenda until later this weekend. :)

I don't own an E-Nano so I can't speak from experience, but I always figured if I did have one, I'd want something big enough to hold it on its own.

I own that one and it works great with the E-Nano though it can be a tad tip-overable. I am using an 18mm gong in an 18 to 14mm female adapter, so if you have a 14mm female nano gong then the slightly shorter height might make it a bit more stable. I'd love a version that is ~300% bigger, but for the price you can't lose.

:o Holy CRAP that's HALF as small as I thought it would be!!!

Does it vortex?

Thanks @weenstoned, I'm actually looking for a nice piece to pair with my 14mm Female Nano stem I bought from @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd - my nano should pair nicely with that piece - although it is WAY smaller than I expected
