Speaking of Slyme, here's my new baby! Will have her in just under a week or so.

See my avatar also for a clearer pic of the drip shield, better photos when I receive the piece lol.

Ryu Wilson green apple and slyme fully worked custom mini rig/fan leaf dome/dabber set. Opal encrusted in the Boro on the end of the dabber and inside the drip shield as well, you can see the drip shield opal better in my avatar :D

Only clear glass on the thing is around the GonG and the base :D The can (not pictured) is fully translucent slyme boro.

Can't wait to dab with this sucker, got my HE V3 nail arriving today in anticipation!

man this thread is hard to keep up this since it moves so fast. Anywho, nice pieces guy's

I love GGirl's work and she always does a swing. I grabbed a nice rig from her last year from a fb auction. I won at such a small amount I added $200 just because I thought she deserved it. I will post a shot soon.

That method normally works out well - giving more to the artist on an auction than you could or did win at. My last one didn't. A $700 payment for a piece that in the end shouldn't be sold at all. Major defects in the design and the workmanship, especially the bottom. I showed it to two different local artists and both said the same thing and said they were very sorry for me No way to resolve with the artist really. He told me I has ruining his life since he didn't have the cash to return... Oh well. Very afraid to do a paypal dispute because its functional glass and paypal's TOS would nail the artist and lock his account up. Just hate to do that to any of us since I disagree with their TOS. Live and learn I guess.

That Slugworth Raygun is the cat's meow for sure. love it!

:o Is this a prominent glassblower that we should be watching out for?

Shame about the dud man! :(
nah, beginner I think. Hopefully a learning experience for both of us. I really believe there was no intent on scamming or pulling a fast one. Maybe expecting too much or still learning the big picture :) Not going to change my life either way so mot pushing too far. A paypal dispute will have more damage than just this situation so that's a bad choice. I figure just ship it back to him and allow him to decide what to do from there. That at least gives him another avenue to recoup some cash. My karma says since I see no intent just live with it. shit happens. Part of the situation was my judgment and decision too.

I did learn something which will change my methodology. Pictures, even a video isn't really enough to tell true quality. Some trust is put into the artist(s). The very reason more known and successful artists receive higher values, higher trust = more demand, less supply. A Mothership may cost you and is just scientific, but if there is one thing you find incorrect with it, well first you will not, but if you did they will make it right. I trust that. That line has been moved much closer to my cornerstone artists now based on this situation. What I mean by that is I need to have a much higher level of trust not to have complete data/information in front of me - like I have the piece in my hands and can physically try it. So in the end internet buys are the most effected. Purchases from local sources where I can hold the piece or a custom from a noted artist with a measureable tract record are the least effected. What this really harms the most is new upcoming artists who do not have much history. For me their market just got significantly reduced to local. That is significant to their ability to fund themselves and grow.

The old story, a few effect the many. That said this market, the functional glass market, is going through a boom right now and its still growing. Its much better than just a few years ago on both sides :) Innovation is strong as is volume and interest. However, craftsmanship is important and there needs to be some merit or standard to determine upcomer's other than the general art contest in a show i.e. DFO to build a reparation. That limits growth, but maybe that's required for the integrity of the medium. I can only guess like each of us. Time will tell. I do know my methodology is changing so my locals have a major advantage now. Solution... traveling shoes!

I must admit that I am not a huge Toro fan, but that is a beautiful piece @PhotoRider!
You and I share the same view here on Toro. It my only one. This one is real nice and I probably could sell it and buy a Torus new for it, if one was around that is. They will be soon I hear. Anywho figure you got to have one, so this one will be it. Big for Toro of this type too. Here are a couple closer shots, just a crop of the shot, plus another. Nice having a 22MP camera with real glass for a lens :)

The piece from Scotty of Liquid Glass Arts deserves a bit more especially since the lead was from you. Goes to show you when asking for a custom do two things. Add 50% to the artists first bid (that value will their typical custom since they get beat up every time) and allow them to do their art, your choice was to pick them as the artist. Allow them to do what they do best and they know that much more than you. This baby was much better than my image in my head :)

We're here to fuck shit up.
Yeah, I do dig that Toro. The colors, reversals on the internals, the shield, and faceted marbles with inset opals. Just really beautiful.

That Reef Rig from Scotty is jaw dropping. I bet you could stare at all the detail and beautiful colors for quite awhile. I must admit that Scotty's work really does it for me. He just seems to have a real artistic sense and a true love for what he does.

no need to be sorry, its a tool and must be used.

Nice j hook too.

@Deadshort480 couldn't agree more on Scotties work. I owe you for that one. Everytime I look at it I see something more. Its my definition of what a true custom should be and now IIts what I measure others against now. I love sealife and reef rigs. In fact my first glass piece for non functional was a sculpture of a scuba diver in a reef. Still love it and this fits perfectly
