Yeah sorry, i didn't mean to sound insensitive to your situation there. :(

Good to hear that new and quality supplies are in abundance though. Kinda ironic that you made it thru the worrying plane flight only to get done in the cali ski fields.

Naw the story is whack for sure, I didn't even see the cops, I just got there and all my shit was gone. They claimed my padlock just "popped off" my closet and when they saw all my shit they called the cops and they took it all. they said if I wanted back I could go get it from the cops. I wish I had med card already!
It's totally ironic man, here I thought I'd finally made it to the promised land then wammo I'm fucked.

I think the advice that came from my story is still pretty solid though. It would go for driving around in your car or keeping in any sort of dorm room or not chill living space as well.

Magic Flight Says:
Boxes without serial numbers are Beta units. They are not covered by the warranty.
I have mentioned this before and was disappointed VapeNow sold me this "beta" unit at full price. MF themselves made it right by sending all attachments and even finding me a little battery case for the double battery's. Then, they replaced the entire unit which works way better then the beta ever did.

Review Update:
==========

I wrote a review of my experiences a week or so ago but since then I have upgraded my batteries and feel it may be useful for new users or those thinking about purchasing a launch box to hear some further thoughts.

1. Batteries:
--------------
I batteries and charger that come with the unit do the job reasonably for essentially low cost items but in my case at least they quickly lose their strength in use. After some fairly in depth research I purchased a Maha MC-9000 charger and 4 Maha 2700 mah batteries. The charger works very well and I feel it's effectiveness in charging/recovering and not frying the batteries will probably save money in the long run. Also the Maha 2700 batteries provide a lot more 'grunt' for many additional tokes than the stock batteries give. Also removing the plastic coating of the batteries was a cinch and left no sticky coating to clean off afterwards. Also too these batteries fit the unit well unlike some other brands that may have slightly thicker or thinner dimensions that could fit not so well. So thumbs up for the Maha charger and Maha 2700 batteries.

2. Inhale slowly:
-------------------
Definitely make the inhales long and slow.

3. The Herb material needs to be dry and fine;
-----------------------------------------------------
I have generally dried my herb in the oven on a low heat for 2 or 3 minutes and then used a grinder. This can reduce it to a very fine consistency which to me has always made it more effective for use. HOWEVER, for the Launch Box if it is still a little 'fluffy' in my usage I've found it to not be so effective to vape. I tried what a previous poster suggested, which was to tip the herb out after the first 3 or 4 tokes and rub it between fingers which will reduce it to a fine powder and then tip back into the unit and re-vape. This then vapes really well and I get visible vapour on the exhale too.

Observation 1:
--------------------------------------------
When I first used the unit with the stock batteries (which incidently are weaker than the Maha 2700 that I additionally purchased) I got some combusting where after several tolkes the used herb would have the look of green and black (combusted) bits. I have read several intitial postings suggesting similar experiences and then later that the units settle down and combustion isn't a problem. I found it hard to imagine this when I read of it but that has been my experience too, but I wonder if the initial combustion is perhaps from the new units where the herb perhaps sticks to the new gauze surface more, as my feeling is that when the unit is used a few times the gauze gains a little coating and perhaps doesn't stick in the same way any longer. With the stronger Maha 2700 batteries I was expecting that I'd be combusting more, but actually I have been surprised to fine that combusting hasn't occured at all and I feel that the unit works very well at providing a great vape effect. Combining this geniune effectiveness with it's portable/stealth/silent/wind proof factor makes it a very useful functional vape.

Observation 2
----------------

The very discrete light within the unit is extremely useful as a visual clue for whether the battery is making contact, as I have found when using the Launch Box I need to press the battery in while vaping from the unit to maintain the contact, otherwise when I remove my finger/hand from the battery the light often goes out (and presumably the heating). So I find the light to be a good feature to have. While it is no problem using it like this, the previously mentioned suggestion of some sort of button to depress rather than to simply press in the battery has some attraction from a design usage sense.

So to sum up, the Maha 2700 batteries and charger work great. And inhaling slowly and finding some way to make the herb material fine and powdery will ensure a great vaping experience (I at first didnt believe the previous posted advice of rubbing the herb between fingers to powderise it after the first 3 or 4 tokes but this really works well!!)

no other company I love supporting than MF and BLissville...just great people....

oh and extremely great tip with putting lavender or something legal in the chamber..didn't think of that...would help greatly with explanation to authorities if it ever to arise

recent usage:

taco bell
sushi restaurant
bars
washroom stalls
streets
nba basketball arena (GO RAPTORS!...i made sure the vape carrier was different than the herb carrier, but knowing about the lavender would have eased my nerves)
movie theatre to watch Avatar in 3D (do this movie justice please and watch it in all its beauty in 3d)...i did this while lining up/sitting on the bench inside waiting with cameras all around and security officers walking back and forth, again I say it becomes 2nd nature....and you have to realize that most 'others' would never fathom the idea of someone vaping nevermind vaping via battery....my point being even if they did see you they'd have no idea what the heck ur doing....its just not mainstream....everytime i bring up vaping to someone new...it's a new concept to them....

basically i use this vape absolutely everywhere without fear of detection (its almost 2nd nature to me)...u'll get really good at holding it such a way to make it look like a cough..just practice in front of a mirror....

reporting back with the batteries....after using "legit" batteries, I don't think I can go back to what I was using before....these batteries (similar to stock) fit snugly and just product hot vapor every single usage

* quick tip: elastic band is great for removing the battery or plastic stems if they get stuck or hot (has happened to me on a few occasions)

Hey Blunt!! I'm sorry to hear that you lost your job over that crap. I'm glad to hear you found another and a new place to live!! Hope 2010 is a great one for you :D

I'm going to have to tell my sister this customer service story... She loves the LB I gave her and I now love my new one too.... I think the little light is a great addition. Looking forward to the power cord too!

Can you elaborate on this? I have a beta unit that I like, but never got to work as well as some of the devoted users here talk about. I've thought about getting a production unit, but didn't want to waste money. What performance differences did you notice?

It was really night and day for me stickstones. The first beta i got would never produce visible vapor, and even with a fully charged battery i was unable to truly brown the herb. Your beta may be different though. New unit works fine still, and does produce some nice vapor, easily visible in the short stem whenever i put on a battery and look at it in the light.

FUCK COMBUSTION Written Vaporizer Review Template - 5 Star system - *-*****

Vape Name - Launch Box

Manufacturer - Magic-Flight

Price - $88 - Full Kit

Warranty - Magic-Flight grants to all purchasers of the Launch Box a lifetime functional warranty for all Box units and provided accessories. We will replace defective or damaged accessories and units free of charge.

Purchased From - www.vapeworld.com or www.magic-flight.com

Build Quality & Durability - Well, its another lil wooden box,but its built VERY WELL. Carved from a single piece wood, extremely hard to break or damage this lil unit. The top glass is made of plexi-glass which is plenty tough & durable, just dont go doing any flexibility tests on it. The rest of the unit seems pretty well built. The "wiring" is strong and doesnt flex much, holding the battery securely in place, and allowing for easier on/off's. The internal screen is very thin, but also pretty durable. It can withstand a lil bit of scraping with the back side of the included brush to get out some crap stuck in the screen. The included brush seems to be very soft & fine...I switched to an electric razor brush and it works just as good if not better since its slightly stiffer.

Temperature control - This is on you...you must pay attention & remove the battery from the terminal when necessary as to not combust. This is part of the slight learning curve.

Air-Path - Not much of an air-path here.....comes thru the lil wooden box down a plastic tube right into your mouth.Short, sweet, direct,& tasty...what more can you ask for?

Delivery system - Direct Draw- 2 plastic "pegs" or stems. Tubing may be attached to them to provide a "cooler" hit of sorts. Ive yet to find the right ID tubing. If a fellow LB owner who has tubing attached can post the proper size,Id really appreciate it. :D

Size - The unit itself fits nicely in the palm of your hand. Its about 3" x 1.5" x 3/4" (eyeball measuring). When you add the battery it does get substantially wider but its still a micro vape.VERY STEALTH!

Stealth - Easily one of the most stealthy units if not THE MOST!! Fits nicely in a pocket, empty cig pack,etc,etc...Can be "palmed" and toked on if you got the right size hands too ;) Most ppl dont even know wtf it is when they look at it!

Ease Of Use - Whats hard about sliding open a plastic top, sprinkling some wacky tobaccy in the trench, sliding it closed, popping in a battery & Enjoying tasty vapor??? Thats right!!!! NOTHING!!!!

Learning curve - VERY,VERY slight. Simply a matter of getting your draw/hit speed down. If you pull too slow, the herbals sitting on the screen will begin to combust, too fast and you drop heat. All in all,Id say it took me a night and a grams worth to figure it out & its been clear flying ever since.

Taste & Flavor - EXCELLENT!!!! Some of the tastiest hits Ive EVER HAD. Ranks right up there with the VaporBox & Vaporstar!!

Exhale Density - Not a problem blowing out a huge cloud here. Its easy to build up a huge foggy hit,by simply "puffing" on the unit, allowing the chamber to quickly refill with vapors.

Efficiency - .1 in a trench & its good for around 5-10hits depending on herb quality. Either way,you will be FLYING. Great way to get ripped & save herb while youre at it.

**Writers Notes**

I would HIGHLY recommend this vape to anybody thats constantly on the go,needs super stealth, wants a hit anytime/anywhere,or is just interested in super efficiency. For $90 its definitely one the cheapest, well built,stealthy,easy-to-use,efficient & flavorful vapes on the market. The only gripe I have is the battery life, but thats easily remedied by purchasing the Energizer 15 Min quick charger which comes with 4-2300 mAH AA's & a car kit for $30. These batteries last longer & heat the unit faster making it even more cost effective & efficient!! Overall its a great buy for anybody! Budget, stealth minded,on the go,dont wanna wait for a desktop to warm up,efficiency....these are all reasons to buy & enjoy this great vape!!!

With my beta, I rarely got visible vapor, although I could feel the effects. I could never get a huge hit out of it and the herb never got truly finished (I tend to take my duff all the way to dark brown). The beta actually got me excited about vaping at a temp that is invisible, but I would finish thinking I needed to reuse the herb in another vape. I think this vape is one of the coolest I have, except I wish it worked better...maybe it is time for me to upgrade to a production unit! Thanks, Krazy.

I didn't get much visible vapor at first either with mine. I had the older one before my sister fell for it and now the newer lighted unit. I have managed to get some nice visible hits after some trial and error. I have also found that instead of reusing the herb in another vape I reuse it right in the LB. After a few hits the stuff is really dry/crunchy. I then grind the herb between my fingers and hit it a few more times.... That has provided some really nice hits.

I also now have learned how to keep it under that visible zone when stealth is important :D This is a pretty cool piece of wood and I'm still amazed at how tiny it is!!

So you have a production unit and can control whether you get visible or invisible vapor? What's your technique?

I use the lift the tongue technique described in the VG tips. It lets you feel the heat of the vapor better. Simply lift your tongue & as you draw you'll feel it get progressively warmer on the bottom of your tongue. Usually once I feel it get "hot" I take the battery off & I can produce a totally stealth hits with no visible vapor.

lo...whats your technique?? Im still trying to find the BEST WAY to hit this lil beast.

I currently am sporting the E, but I'm looking for something a little more "on the go" friendly. I would much rather have something smaller for when I'm cruzing around instead of driving with my E on my lap.
I'd love to be able to keep the E at home and have something portable and stealthy when I'm out and about. I was thinking the VG until i seen the LB. The LB sounds pretty clutch, and with the home adapter it sounds unstoppable. what do you guys think LB or VG? also, what kind of over all life can i expect out of a LB? and does the screen get gunked up, how easy to clean is it? thanks

cool, so how does it stack up against the VG? which gives bigger hits and is easier to use? just got my dad a vg and he loves it so far. he is always travelling with his piece though. and the vg is a little bigger. im wondering if the lb would be a better fit for that. i at least plan on getting a lb for myself anyway.

2 totally different vapes man. One is flame powered the other electrical. Hits depend on your technique but you can easily blow out a fogger. As far as ease of use....its a toss up. The VG is very easy to use once you get the hang of it,but you might have to suffer a few burns to get there. The LB is simple, easy to use & straight forward right outta the box.

Id have to say to do what we already discussed...buy a LB and do a full on side by side comparo. You might like one better than the other or vice versa....either way,you & your dad are in the same house. So if one is the favorite, passing it around shouldnt be too hard of a chore ;)

What say you magic flight?

I have to say though in the week I skiid with that thing at high altitude I convinced at least 3 or 4 other stoners to buy one for themselves. The thing riiips at like 10,000 ft.
Hi Bluntfaced,

For the record, the warranty definitely does not cover lost or stolen units. "Taken by cops" is cut and dry 'lost or stolen'. To make matters worse, "they" now know what to look for -- making it harder for everyone.

Yet, it is also to be acknowledged that this sort of event was eventually inevitable and expected. Still, even so, you are answerable to more than 'the Man' in this case -- FC readers will want to know what happened -- in detail. Specifically, they will want to have learned from your experience what NOT to do so that they do not also befall a similar fate!

Therefore, I will make an exception to the usual policy this one time only and actually treat it as a "warranty event". For this grace, you will be required to do three things: 1) send us a private email with your postal address and, if you have it or can get it, your Box number (important!); 2) write a post with a detailed story of what actually happened and then what you would do differently so that other FC members have a chance to benefit from your experience (better for everyone). Finally 3) please post/report something/details about using the Box at high altitude and in particularly cold/windy conditions. We get a lot of questions about that and we do not have the capacity to test units with such usage conditions. What sort of things do you do to get the best results from the Box when on the mountain? This sort of information will be of benefit to other people as well and will do something to offset the costs (both material and social) that have been incurred.

Finally, please be aware that the replacement Box will ship without batteries or accessories -- presumably the charger etc. was at home when your Box was taken.

-- Magic-flight
Now that is customer service, ladies and gentlemen!
