Is my new Extreme Q fake?

Hi All,

Received my Extreme Q today and I'm suspicious that it is fake. I'm finding it hard to see anything online that is directly a guide to help spotting fake EQs.

Here are several pictures of it that maybe could be compared against known legitimate EQs.

Also, are there any really detailed specifications in the EQs design that might not be copied correctly and will give a counterfeit away? For example the unit I have ways around 1 pound on its own and the whip has printed writing running down the length of it that includes "KURI TEC KLEARON K010 BY KURIYAMA".

Many thanks in advance,

It's quite funny, after calling them. The guy on the phone was so "insulted" by the claim that he was willing to put his weeks pay down that it was legit. He also told me that he was going to get the owner to call me and talk to me about it. Haven't heard back yet!

Sent a contact email to Arizer asking about it. Doubt there's anything they can say/do either.

'Rebranded' doesn't mean Fake, Don't know why a pretty much unknown company would think their name on a product is better then an established manufacturers brand but for some reason now a days it seems they do. IMHO it's real, only difference may be who covers the warranty claims with rebranding letting a North American company free from dealing with returns overseas, Namaste sells a few like the vivape and the vapir rise that wouldn't be faked because they are not very big sellers and are not easy to duplicate.

I think your safe with the EQ.

That's my :2c: anywhoo.

Well, the LSV doesn't seem rebranded to me. It doesn't look exactly like the LSV, also the LED and cable managment is different. At least to the version of the LSV I know. Calling it a fake was a bad call, no question about that. Still, seems like a knock off.

EQ seems legit, but I guess the best option is to do what you did and ask Arizer directly.

Team NO SLEEP!
Did you purchase with a credit card?
Have you used it yet?
Can it be returned?

If you are not comfortable, return it and buy from a reputable dealer.
Or call your card company/paypal/whatever you used, and tell them it is not the product you paid for.

Mine looks identical. And I mean.. exactly the same down to the last sticker. It performs like a beast though so I wasn't suspicios. It came in an unmarked brown box and multitude of bubble wrap, and there was no 'ARIZER EXTREME Q' 'box', but I did get this shitty little booklet which made me a little bit suspicious of it's quality and legitimacy, but after using it I can't complain.
The booklet was cheaply made, but in all honesty I didn't expect a AAA+ grade booklet that you'd receive if you purchased a $2000 iMac or a Playstation 4 or something.

So yeah, if yours is a fake then so is mine. We have identical units and I got mine about 2/3 weeks ago from a very reputable retailer - http://www.dreamherbs.com.au/

Damn you, party liquor
My EQ from two years ago came with that same manual and in a plain brown box but with cut outs of foam, not bubble wrap, but those instructions are legit.

I was in possession of a counterfeit/knockoff/rebranded EQ for a while. I bought from a local brick-and-mortar and the owner even slyly mentioned that it was "not made by Arizer" but was nevertheless and Extreme Q.

You can find the knockoffs listed under a couple different names, but they seem to be manufactured by a Chinese company called Fuzion Vaporizers

Here are a few examples..

Fuzion AVR 320
And Again
VP320

& here's a shot of mine.

You can see it doesn't have the glossy black finish and looks much more metallic - yours looks identical to the genuine thing Arizer sent me in exchange for $100 and the knockoff, which didn't have any marks, stamping, or stickers on the bottom, and was constantly emitting a faint low-pitched buzzing/humming whenever the unit was turned off but still plugged in - the only way to completely silence it was to disconnect it, and sparks would always shoot out of the back when I plugged it back in.

In short your EQ is almost certainly the real thing.

Just heard back from Arizer.

In order for them to confirm the authenticity of the product I purchased they asked for:
  • The serial number from the base
  • A picture of the unit
  • Receipt of purchase
They confirmed it to be a genuine product.

It seems of such a high quality that I felt this might be the case regardless of where I purchased it from.
