I'm not an expert but I have a strong opinion
I love sours. My buddy J from Trinity Brewing in Co makes some of the best. This is his Electrik Cukumbahh.

Trinity does some awesome stuff. Avery (out of boulder) does some amazing barrel aged sours as well but they are pretty much only available in the tasting room. For my money though its gotta be Crooked Stave FTW. Every beer they offer has impressed the hell out of me.

I've had three beers of note lately:

Southern Tier Brewing Company Gemini. This is a strong ale but had a lager smell to me. The combination of hops makes for a complex hop taste. I get citrus AND floral notes. http://www.stbcbeer.com/gemini/

Founder's Brewing Devil Dancer. They call it a triple IPA. It smells like a kicked up Two Hearted to me. It is much drier than I expected, given that it must have a massive malt bill. http://foundersbrewing.com/our-beer/devil-dancer/

The Bruery's White Oak. They call it a wheat wine. You smell the oak and the alcohol right away. There is a cider hint to the taste but most prominent is the oak and the alcohol. Unlike some oaked beverages, they keep the oak under control. It is smooth and not overly "buttery." http://www.thebruery.com/beers/specialcollection.html

Be warned, these bad boys are all quite pricey.

Three lovely ladies from Chi-town I recently met.

Halia - Brewed with the Saison and farmhouse ales of Belgium in mind, we added fresh Georgia peaches and Brettanomyces claussenii to a fresh white wine barrel and aged the Saison base for 9 months.

Madame Rose - Brown Ale aged in French oak Cabernet Sauvignon barrels with the addition of Michigan cherries and heavily inoculated with Brettanomyces.

Lolita -Belgian-style ale aged in French oak Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. Each barrel receives 50+ pounds of fresh raspberries. Spontaneous secondary fermentation in the barrels. Aged 8 months or more.

Big fan of craft beers even though my student budget has me drinking common beers like Coors or Heineken (of whatever else cheap).
Blue Moon is quite a novelty for us over here at the moment, I must admit I do enjoy it!

Few of the selection the gf and I enjoyed at Kilkenny Castle park before going to Cat Laughs, a rather big comedy festival which brings over tons of American comics. Seen Dom Irrera and Neal Brennan to name just a couple!

The Sierra Nevada Torpeda as always was amazing! Actually you could say they're ranked from left to right. The Bavaria's main function was to provide a great happy drunk buzz for the occasion. At 7.9% (and confusingly named 8.6), I discovered after every can I'd get a surge of happy energy, as if I'd been raised exactly 1 level on the drunk scale. Wouldn't rate highly in taste or much other qualities though.

Love Mikkeller. I was told by a crafty brewer that Mikkeller was a gypsy travelling from brewery to brewery making special beers. A quick search showed that's just their ethos. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikkeller)

This particular one is a combination he did with the company BrewDog (Hardcore IPA vs I Beat You). A lot of their creations are one off and very difficult to find again. Through rigorous off-license searching I've found a delightful number of these. Imperial IPA with the nicest hint of pineapple (or any fruit) I've had in an IPA. Was trying to figure out what the sweet note was, then I burped and it was like I had just eaten an actual pineapple. I miss those pineapple burps!

Haven't had this since last summer. Beer Geek - An Oatmeal stout brewed with coffee. The cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast.

A bit sweet up front for an IPA. Feels more like a barleywine to me - good none the less.

Interesting. It does start a bit sweet but it finishes drier than many double and triple IPA's I've had. With the malt required, you should find sweetness somewhere.

A few Nordeasts after a 12 hr shift. Another 12 on Friday that's pure overtime. Get that money.

My buddy that I brew with has family up north and we get regular shipments of nordeast and grain belt. LOVE THEM!

Heading out this weekend to a new, massive brewfest here in town. Will report back with some favs.
