/how are the custom stems from hammer? I hear the bowl is bigger and allows more air flow or something? But will I still be able to pack .07 and be fine? But they are around $30 and are solid colors.

I'd probably be better off buying a mini bong/bub that will fit the lock on stem at that price.

I got only one custom stem, #67 with honeycomb filter. The bowl size is exactly the same as the regular stems currently shipped. Don't know about the bowl size of the other kinds of custom stems.

I use it mainly on the hammer and vape pea sized nugs as a whole with it, love it. Easy to clean with ISO and no pain with preparations.

I didn't noticed any airflow differencies but have not really payed attention to it, maybe there is some.

$45 is a lot of money for a single stem, it is screen less though, I'd probably be better off with a mini bong that fits my stem from a local headshop. But the screen less...

You think it was worth it?

I also keep considering the screen less 14mm GonG option, but haven't brought myself to upgrading from the standard GonG.

I would prefer not having to maintain the screens, but I imagine my fine grinds would also result in more debris in the water than with a screen... I am VERY tempted to try a WonG from Ed.

Sure, they are quite expensive but I guess that's part of the custom experience. I like the look a lot more then a simple clear stem and they are unique. Also wanted a backup if I break the standard stems accidently and the custom stems seems to be a lot more durable.

The screenless fact is nice in terms of maintenance, but as @FlyingLow states, fine grinds do not work in them. The screens for the regular stems can easy cut by yourself with headshop screens.

I am personally not drawn to the "Custom" hammer stems, but I was drawn to Ed's.

I think Hammer has taken some liberty in calling these "Custom" pieces. IMHO, looks like simple production-line glass that one might find at a gas station for $7-10.

When I hear the word "custom", I associate that with made-to-order, or something with unique specs. I find these all look similar with minor variances in shape and color, but no unique technique or anything that would warrant the word custom in the title...

Perhaps I am harsh?

Can one order a custom stem with their desired length, or colors, or shape from The Hammer Store? Or, can one only buy the pre-made "custom" pieces?

Well @Ed's TnT stem showed up Wednesday in my mailbox while I was working a 15hr shift haha, what a great surprise to find and forget the bull shit of the day. I tried it out and was rather surprised on how the taste was just a little bit of a wood flavor which matched nicely with the bud and much cooler in temp then the thin glass. The size of the bowl on the stem seems way bigger then the standard glass, and locks on a hundred times better. I was really stuck between getting a custom glass from @The Hammer or custom wood from @Ed's TnT since both are the around the same price. I bought the hammer to be my outdoor durable vape so it only made sense for me to get a wood stem. Over all I couldn't be more happy with the product and customer service that Ed provided.

Heres a few picks of the stem which is Guatemalan Granadillo wood.

The wood stems look really nice and from the description it says it works with waterpipes, has anyone tried it? And how was it?

I kind of want one now, but I like glass for the reclaim and don't like the idea of iso to clean. Plus I could buy a cheap mini bong and use that with a lock on stem and also I have a cyclone wrap container for the lock on stem for on the go use that fits perfectly.

I doubt I could find a good airproof container to fit the wood stem so no lint gets in or no bud spills out.

That piece was bought about 4 years ago. The LHS was having a sale at the time. I believe I paid somewhere in the range of 20 to 30 dollars for it.

If I did not have this piece and went to buy a small piece for my Hammer today, I would buy a piece that had a larger base. The piece in the photo will not stand up on its own with the Hammer attached when sitting it down on a table. This is not a big enough issue for me to go and buy a new piece but if I were like you, looking for a piece, it would be something to consider IMO.

Pretty sure my igniter just quit working. Sent in the nano for repairs and this was my trusty backup/on the go piece. 1 or 2 stems after a fresh fill up and I got no more flame. Using the same fuel i was using before. I can hear the fuel but that click that caused the spark is not happening.

I guess i will try to purge the tank and refill before calling it a goner. Bad thing is I just looked at the warranty on the website and for me it was up 2 months ago.

I just got my Ed's; it is magnificent!

I got my first Eds replacement stem, beautifully worked, slightly longer than stock and far sturdier.
There is no comparison when putting it next to the stock crack pipes. Will post pics soon:D

I have not measured, but I would guess it is slightly more than 1cm longer than the crack stem.

Although mine is/was to be dedicated dry stem, Ed through me a curveball and I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to find the mouthpiece on mine is also a Wong and a perfect fit into my 14mm pieces.

Ed's stem exceeded my expectations in every way, I will try to post some pics later (before I leave town for 8 days)... not going to risk traveling international with this one, so it will have to stay at home:cry:

Hi FC :)

My Hammer was ordered at the end of april, I received it at the beginning of may in Europe : very good shipping service, thanks the Hammer.

I had to purge the air out because of boom, blue flame and smell; then The Hammer Vaporizer was ready to use ;)

It's my first log vape. I find it very efficient: good taste, big clouds, little consumation.
At the beginning it was easy to combust, now I use to draw no more than 3-4 time by session and there is no more combustion.

I like The Hammer Vaporizer because :
+ it is a tasty and powerful portable vape
+ it needs minimal amounts of material
+ it delivers quickly a good hit
+ it uses butane so it is very portable

- Sometimes I have more than 2 sessions and warm vapor can begin to irritate my throat, it is the same for all log vape I ve tried. Wood stem seems to give less warm vapor.

To avoid breaking glass stemp during camping, I use the cardboard tube given by MF with kava oil; it's just perfect : no moove at all !

I suggest a bigger gas tank for THV#2 ;)

Thanks Fc's for all these informations which have suggested me to get THV and thanks to Ed for building this amazing vape.

Have god vapes with The Hammer !

Glad you enjoy your Hammer, just 2 little things:

The Hammer is no log vape. There may be some discussion about what the actual definition for a log vape is but I can't really see the Hammer fitting that category in any way ;)

Ed doesn't build the Hammer. Ed supports woodstems for various vaporizers (Solo, Nano, etc...). The actual name of the company producing the Hammer is "Head Tools LLC."

Have fun getting hammerd!

The Hammer has log design properties, I refer to it as log like.

It has a heat port like a log hits better than a log and usage is identical to logs.

I am not here to argue definitions but using yours, pretty many vapes would become log vapes. Or log likes, whatever this means.

Can't we just call it a portable, butane powerd convection vape? That actually describes the device propperly instead of using deviations of allready vague terms that only cause confusion. ;)

I understand what you're saying and I agree it should always be referred to as what it exactly is. But it's more than just a convection vape, I don't use convection too often for one of my Hammers.

Log likes are vaporizers designed for small loads like log vaporizers, they also must have a heat port identical to logs, its not as many vaporizers as you may imagine. Its really all about the heat port and style of usage, I am imagining logs without the wood. Its not a log like if you can't mate a thin stem to it or if the heat port isn't designed for small loads, probably under half an inch. But log like is a confusing term because you must first understand log vaporizers designs.

If you want to create confusion by introducting arbitrary terms backed by personal definitions, go ahead, I just don't really see the point to it.

Personal definitions can become more commonly used definitions. I just wanted to clarify as you said "whatever that means."

My main focus for that post was that the Hammer works as a great conduction vaporizer and isn't limited to be known as just a convection vaporizer.

I would tell that hammer is a log style vape even if he has many abilities such as convection (regular use) AND conduction (paytopen style) by curshing concentrates into the heater.

The small size stems and loads, inner power concurr to make it a log vape to me. The unseen characteristics of it is to not need electric power!!
