Now that Im not on my phone, a couple of things:

  • The future of dabbing is centering around low temp dabs and carbing the nail. As such, you should be shooting to have a steady temp of 600°-700° without muxh drop once the concentrate is introduced to the heating surface.
  • As stated above, a carb-cap is fast becoming mandatory equipment for any serious dabber. It is also a must have to take full advantage of the temps mentioned above as well. Your setup needs to take that into consideration.
  • Something that would be compatible with the glass I already have. Ideally this would work with almost any type of joint/nail (10mm-18.8mm male or female), as well as any material nail (ti, quartz, ceramic).
  • Nails seem to be moving away from Ti towards quartz and ceramic. This is something to keep in mind.
  • Heat up time is also going to be a big factor for a lot of people.
  • FLAVOR ABOVE ALL
That's all I've got off the top of my head for now!

Agree with all of this. Domeless and carb cap-able is perfect, flavour and consistent delivery of 600-700f on the nail. I am not fussed at all with the kind of nail, I can see how using materials that have slightly higher thermal conductivity than quartz (ti) could be helpful in minimizing power-draw, as well as minimizing loss of heat when dab hits nail and when not being carbed.

I trust that all of this has probably already been taken into account though, Gary knows his oils :)

Well lets get down to basics.

Its going to be either 14 or 18 maybe well make adapters to get to 18 or 10.

600-700F shouldnt be an issue once we fix the part we discussed.

It will have a carb cap on it, this is still in design stages as it needs to work like the way we want it.

It should be compatible with 90% of all glass.

As far as materials we ill say that we have no issue there if you guys are willing to put up the cash for something thats going to be cleanest and tastiest hit you have ever taken.

As for heat up time.

Whats the current heat up times of nails?

Understand for the perfection we are going for I am going to say that heat up times will suffer a little. ITs all about the materials and we are using The Core which delivers about 8.4v max once we dial it in.

Testing of the unit starts 1 day early i just couldnt wait. I have a friend coming over and hes going to give a few rounds to see how it goes.

We are hoping since this is a prototype it wont break on us and give us a down time, but before we start testing i already asked the engineer to make a new refined design that we think is going to be much better.

If it works then this will be a desk top unit and do herbs as well.

Here is to a successful test run today in 35 minutes.

1 Unit to rule them all? haha we shall see.

Currently the Core is used.

We will have a temp chart available once we do a final production prototype.

Interesting. So it sounds like it completes more with the $600 digital systems rather than the analog ones that go for half that. There's something reassuring about the accuracy of digital.

Having both the core and hammer, I'd be silly to not be interested.

initial testing complete.

Some good news some bad news.

Good news we got vapor, bad news the temps on this thing dont match the temps he vapes with on other nails. Had to vape at 8.0v - 8.4v with about .3 dab.

we expected the results we got with vapor production and all, but we also got it to reach 750F big issue it wasnt where we expected the heat to be.

So now engineer has full report on what needs to be changed for the next generation and we have already started ordering the needed parts for the next prototype.

All in all for a first prototype of this kind this thing did what we wanted.

How much will this be? I didn't see you mention a targeted price and I'm kind of broke. I could probably save 150 for something like this. So I'm curious about its price.

Also, any chance that it can come with a wickless clearomizer for honey oil/refined oil/liquid. I think it'd be about putting the nail at the very bottom and figuring out how to gradually flow liquid on to the nail for vaping. I would go crazy for something like that and wouldn't mind paying a bit more.

I do apologize but i doubt its going to be around the 150 range, as the Control Unit retails for $100 alone. The materials used in this and the warranty provided with it along with the quality of the parts i dont know what the price will be until we are finished with everything but its not going to be anything near that price.

Maybe once I get a little more into vaping I'll want a very nice high tech device like this. For now I'm happy with my e-cigarette set up, at least happy enough to not want to switch at a high cost.

I'm looking at different e-cigarette tanks or clearomizers atm, that's why I was hoping this one could come with one. I'd assumed it was portable and would be able to have a screw on thread for a tank. The nail just seems perfect for a cartridge to vape oils from.

So the benefits of this will be that it can dab wax. Will it be portable?

This is a desk top unit what your looking for is a portable unit. You can find them in the portable section.

I wanna see this nail already! lol

You know you wanna catch my latest wave of VAS, Gary! :p

Of course, no pressure and Mods, please don't take this as me asking for any special treatment :)

alright guys update time.

Yesterday I had a nice meeting with two of our engineers. We decided to follow with our current design path and make the nail totally user serviceable.

This means every single part is being made to be replaceable if something happens instead of buying a whole new unit or major sections other then The Core.

A few have already tested the current set up, and one of you already chosen will get to use it for a few days once we have the second prototype finished next two weeks, We are currently working on the tooling for the second design.

Hope we can make this work as it is a design not done by anyone else.

Oh and if it works we will most likely call it

@THC SCIENTIFIC Flexo was a good call.

I think so too, since if we are able to do everything in pieces and if it works, the name Flexo fits it nice.

Guys please understand this is for pure taste and we are going for a .3 of a oil to be vaped at once, anything more then that we might have to change a part out but it wont be pure taste ( in our standards ) for something that is going to be the ultimate desktop oil vape.

Yeah I see this being more along the lines of a VB2, price wise that is. Any cheaper would just be icing on the cake. With the quality of w9 products and service I see that being fair. Especially if it does herbs now too?

I believe you were working on a desktop vape for herbs also, have the idea merged into one unit now? @THC SCIENTIFIC..

Personally all my glass is 14mm so I would love for that to be the choice you go with. But what about a dual option like all the other enails, 14/18 would suit most peoples needs although 10 mm is becoming extremely popular
