Discontinued Indica Vaporizer

In search of the best terps and smoothest vapor
Hi I've been lurking these forums for a while trying to decide which vape to get as my first one and I've decided the Indica is everything I want in a vaporizer. I'm completely set except for the fact that I don't want "Indica LLC" to show up on my bank statement if I buy it from the official store. Anything I can do about that? Great product by the way, can't wait to use it!
The only 2 places to get one at this point is direct from Indica or vapornation.com. I can't speak for Indica as I don't know, but Vapornation is very discreet in shipping and billing. They explain on their site how the billing and shipping labels will appear with no vape related words. I ordered mine from Vapornation this week.

You can buy it through vapor nation I think it shows up with something normal on bank statements. I believe it's MDR sales.
It goes away, mine smelled awful for about a week or two, that new electronic smell, it needs seasoning, now get to work!!

Dont worry, flavor is exceptional once seasoned...

Note to Mike, put one of those little carbon odor eaters in box with Indica next batch?
Man I've owned a davinci and an Ascent I know all about it, but it was actually not bad smelling in the packaging. I took a dry hit when I pulled it out and was like this should go away after a couple dry runs. It only got worse I spent the entire battery on red dry runs and it smells like melting plastic. So much so that I don't want to use it because I feel like I'll be inhaling melting plastic laced meds. Seeing the off gassing come out the oven wasn't a good sign either. I sold my regular davinci because I was tired of that rubbery taste and I feel like I supplemented it with a plastic taste. I'm going to ISO parts of it and run it and hope that clears it up.

I got mine and so far I'm liking it pretty damn good.. like all vapes it's taking a little bit to get use to a few things on. Far as packing the chamber, what have you guys notice seems to work best? A good tight pack like you do with a Pax, or do you find packing a little loose like it's recently been stirred. And what temperature setting do you guys find using the most!!

@ Mr. Indica (President) .. Have you guys had any thought of making some sleeves/skins for the Indica? I they would go over well, it would provide a little bit of stealthiness along with protecting some of the shine and not let it get scratched up as bad!!

You don't notice a bad plastic taste or smell on yours? I've done everything and it's still there. This is more than likely going to be an exchange. So much for that fast shipping now I have to go through an exchange process. I was looking forward to using the indica all week until it came in, too. Thankfully I have a well functioning ascent.

Uhh nah not really.... first draw or two I noticed a faint metallic taste but it seems to have went away now. I talked to a rep named Daniel on the live chat and he was very helpful with everything. Somehow we got the address spelled a little wrong and he told me if he happen to come back he would 2 day it back to me for free! So they may be willing to work with you, that's strange about the taste.. maybe you can log onto the help chat at vapor-nation and talk to a rep and just get a little feedback and see if other people have had the same complaint!

I have had 3 Indicas
All have a certain taste I associate with the Indica, just as every other brand vape
seems to have it's own essence.

You said you spent an entire battery on dry runs on a vape.
In doing so you could be causing the issue that you are noticing.
You may not have bad luck with electronics... you might just have a very sensitive palate

Please take no offense, as none is meant here.
It is best to focus on medicating, and not allow mind to be preoccupied with the task of finding a bad flavor, or locating an unfamiliar smell.

If one searches hard enough they will soon find little flaws, or dissatisfactions.
If one searches continually enough they will always be dissatisfied or nervous.
Typically I would agree with that logic, but the whole point to vaporizing is medicating in a healthier fashion. If all of my meds taste like melting plastic and I get nothing but strong plastic smells that do not dissipate, I can't associate that with doing the healthier thing. The ascent came with a horrid smell, after a set of dry runs that smell went away like I expected with the indica. It intensified with the indica, so proceeding forward isn't going to help it, but just cover it up. Especially the fact that I held a flashlight to the chamber and could see some form of fume or vapor coming out. I don't want to inhale that, I'm sure everyone in this forum would agree with me.

DopeFight . for me personally , I like to loosely fill my oven and pack it down with the spacer . I usually get 3 full sessions with it packed this way , with nice evenly toasted herb at the end .. I think skins are a pretty good idea also !!

@ Tony Hemp , that sucks about the plastic smell . Mine had a slight smell at first (but it didn't smell like burning plastic) , but I swabbed with iso ( oven and air path ) and did a burn off on red . Then repeated . And I haven't had a problem since . I hope you get an exchange , and it works out for you .

@Tony Hemp I've done a little research on the subject. I know the big concern about plastic gassing is Dioxin, which doesn't exist in the combustion -- more than 700 degress -- of *most* microwavable safe plastics. I'd be interested in learning if there are other potential dangers of heated plastic, though.

There is a doctor at UC Riverside that is testing the safety of E-Cigarettes. She basically hooks up an e-cig to a smoking machine and then observes the inhaled particles under a specialized microscope. In a few of the tests I saw, she noticed metal particles, such as tin, copper, and nickel. These e-cigarettes are usually made much cheaper than the vaporizers on this forum, so I don't know if there is a difference.

From a news article:

"These particles are so very small they go from your lungs straight into your blood stream, and carry the toxic chemicals into your blood, and then appear in various organs," said Dr. Glantz.

Supporters say e-cigarettes are only 10 to 20 percent as polluting as tobacco cigarettes. But Dr. Glantz said that's still not good. "On an absolute whole, it's still a bad thing," she said.
I'm sure I've inhaled worst getting some metal dental fillings drilled out.

EDIT: I don't think anything I stated above is unique to the Indica or if it applies. It's just an observation made about e-cigarettes, which are very similar. I am still looking forward to my Indica.

I had four different Indicas during beta testing. I also have a sensitive palate. The first one arrived in a box that hadn't been properly dried after staining, and it had a noticeable odour and taste of the stain when I got it. This dissipated quickly and there were no other off flavours or off-gassing. These are things I specifically looked for before ever using one of them. The other three were all neutral. Since yours is behaving this way then it is not typical of any of my betas, or the general product release either judging by the lack of similar complaints.

So far I think I prefer the Green & Purple Settings..... haven't tried any of the lower temperature settings just yet. Which I also haven't had any overly favorable herbs as of this week.

Far as me mentioning the skins or sleeves... I think one would also help with the unit getting a little warm in your hand. I noticed after two back to back sessions the unit got a little warm especially towards the bottom.

But again, so far I'm pretty happy with my purchase!!!

I did some reading of the medical literature for a little bit the other day (yay for work giving me free journal subscriptions!).

Basically, the literature suggested that all PG/PEG's create carcinogens, yes in lesser quantities than cigarettes, no not in medically insignificant quantities.

Basically, all of the known ejuices right now have some health risk or another (nowhere near the risk of combusting, but still not safe, and nowhere near as safe as just vaping flowers/oils).

I was digging through my notes trying to find out the specific carcinogens but can't find it lol. I'll have to check later when I've woken up more :) It was quite an interesting read, one article in particular!

I should become a beta tester because I can spot all things wrong or that could be improved haha the package smell was very faint especially when I dry hit the unit. I was excited about that because, unlike the ascent, I figured it would only take a couple dry runs. With each run it got word and worse.

I spoke to Michael about it he was very prompt in his responses and helping me out. We diagnosed the problem, I have a slightly defective unit. The o-ring that separates the oven from the vapor path right in between the vapor path hole is slightly in the vapor path and being heated. I could do a quick fix if I had a drill, but I rathered a new unit. Michael was incredibly helpful and the indica company can be very proud of their customer service.

I used to rave to friends and on FC about Davinci's customer service. So much so, that 4 of my friends made davinci or ascent purchases and half of them had terrible customer service. I can say hands down Indica beats davinci in customer service three fold.

For anyone on the fence about buying an Indica, I haven't had a chance to really test out it's vapor production, but I highly recommend the Indica vaporizer. The customer service alone let's you know that they care, so if you experience any problems, which you will with just about any electronic and vaporizer, they immediately help you. Davinci is a minimum two week process. That speaks in volumes to me.

After testing everything out with stealthiness and functionality, I would make a few suggestions. Having a black one would be great, I know that's been announced right after my purchase. But also to have the charge port on the side so the unit can stand up while it charges. I like to see it standing up it's very appealing. A removeable top would be cool to help stealth but isn't completely necessary, a place to store the vape pick would be cool, but I have one on my key ring and one in the pouch so it's not a huge deal. I'm not sure if it's doable but I think having the charge port where the oven is and the oven where the charge port is or opposite side of where the oven is now would be cool. I always found myself going to mess with the oven door on the side it isn't on, possible because if the way the lid swings open maybe there's some psychology behind it haha. Ali not a big deal, just my suggestions.

Once again huge props to @Indica Vaporizer for being so quick to help me and handle business like every other company should. By listening to their customers feedback and going above and beyond!

The more I use my Indica the more I enjoy it the most among all my vapes. I find if I really want to appreciate a strain or mix its the first one I turn to, likewise for heading out of the house. Still enjoying pretty much every temp, but I usually ride a bowl through blue, green, and purple for a session each more or less depending how full I pack it that time.

@Indica Vaporizer excited to hear black is coming and that the replaceable batteries are on track as well! I do agree that offering other cases could be a fun accessory option and help protect against any heat for back to back sessions (the velvet pouch makes a good freebie, but I'm sure people would spend more for various colors and designs), be they silicone shells, or carbon fiber wraps, or even knit pouches (which is actually what I use for mine, an orange wool crocheted pouch).

I also thought of another useful change for the vape pick, especially if it is being given a stowaway spot in the lid (as I hope it is), since this would be good for on the go. Its to have one end of the pick (or even a second pick?) be narrow and tubular like a toothpick so it could just fit the diameter of the vapor pathway, so that way you can use it to quickly clear the vapor path on the go in case it gets clogged at the bottom. It has happened to me a couple times where I didn't have a toothpick or a pipe cleaner handy and felt like there was an obstruction in the vapor path, but I had the pick in my pouch and it couldn't help me!

Looking forward to hearing what other suggestions will be becoming realities (fingers still crossed for 18/14mm waterpipe adapter mouthpieces in particular), keep up the great work!

@Shit Snacks Excellent idea about having a (3/32nd ID of chamber) poker that would double as a pic and a chamber tube cleaner! I definitely second that!

For now, do what I do. Just get longer pipe cleaners and curl one up in the lid of your Indica, it will even hold the pick secure for the time being.
There is a lot of unused space in the lid!

I also start my sessions on blue (sometimes CYAN) and finish off on purple.
I'm a taste "connoisseur" if you will.
I love the taste more than the vapor, but going blue through purple you get the best of both worlds! Taste and vapor!
I really love the lower temperatures the Indica offers over other portables.

I too go Blue->Green->Purple and save the ABV for pre-bedtime Red sessions. I pour in loose herb, pack with spacer, load more loose herb, pack with spacer and put lid on.

I did want to let you all know that my Indica crapped out on me last Monday and doesn't heat up anymore. All lights functional, except it doesn't flash when it gets up to temp because it doesn't heat up. I was pretty disappointed as this is my first vape and I've only had it for a month.

I spoke with Mike and he is sending me out a new one and I am to send mine in for diagnosis.

I told him I would love a silicone sleeve like these for VW key fobs: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00AVQSFR8?pc_redir=1402199346&robot_redir=1

And you can charge the Indica standing up, you just have to let the plug side hang over the table/counter/whatever.

Hey everybody,

So, I got my 2nd on diva today in less than a week. Big props the Michael @Indica Vaporizer for the quick response and problem solving. While I can't race enough about customer service, it just doesn't seem like I'm supposed to have an indica vape. I uses ISO on everything and I've run an entire battery of dry runs and it just has a horrible flavor. I have very sensitive smell and taste buds, so if something is off I'm going to find it.

Aside from the bad taste, I can see an exposed yellow wire running along my oven. Not something I'm happy to see. For everyone that's saying the flavor is amazing, have you guys just eventually ignored the off flavor that comes from this vaporizer, or is there really no flavor at all but your herbs? This is so disheartening this is the 2nd time in 4 days where I thought I was going to be sitting outside with my indica and again no go.

Should I just stick with my ascent and move in another direction, or try again for another indica? I need to become their QC because this kind of stuff would never pass my standards. I took pictures of the yellow wire in the oven but can't post from my phone.

Tony, Please post the picture as soon as possible. If a problem exists, it needs to be addressed quickly. Not knowing if this is a cosmetic issue it's hard to comment at this time. Thanks

@Tony Hemp, As best as I can see from your picture, this is insulatory wrapping, not a wire. It's a thin gauge around the chamber and unfortunately mildly exposed. We have a tight tolerance and as we continue to mature, the tolerances will be more forgiving to overlap these imperfections. This will not affect odor or performance.
