Man it's REALLY hard to just walk into a shop and buy a bong these days. They made it illegal here in Victoria (and Queensland I think) some MAY do under the counter stuff but like I said it's hard and the range is limited. There was a huge rush of people buying bongs before the laws came in.
I am being convinced by this and other forums that the SSV or LSV is the way to go over the Plenty (uses too much, all or nothing hits, less versatlie also having trouble finding how to use a waterpipe with it) or Cloud PLUS (huge breakdown concerns, expensive) but if I can't hook up to a waterpipe (very important for me) then i may have to get 1 of these instead.
I really need an australian poster (@Frederick is hopefully gonna have a look for me) to help me out. I don't have a credit card so not sure how I would order from overseas.
It's getting frustrating - I've quit smoking and I just wanna get vaping ASAP! I could just order the Cloud PLUS but if it broke down I'd be pretty P!@#$ED!

Probably the best bet for you would be a road trip to Fyshwick. A few of the adult shops have extensive ranges of bongs and bits. The only thing is there is a lot of cheap and nasties but if you persavere you will find GOG but be prepared to pay.

I think you made a great pick that looks like a great pipe. You could always get something completely different down the road for a contrasting experience.

Let us know if it hits like this (similar perc):

I was thinking about something just now but feel like someone has to have tried this before. If you have a pipe with a male joint, could you use cloud ELB's or the arizer extream basket in the 18mm joint of the pipe and then attach it to the LSV heater?[/QUOT

I slip the small ELB into the male joint on the oil rigs.

Wow, just wow. The LSV is hands down the best vaporizer I have tried thus far and I am extremely happy with my purchase. And I have not even paired it with glassware yet. This thing is extremely effective.

One question - I am finding the 10ft cord length slightly prohibitive in my current living situation - is there any way to extend the reach of the LSV without succumbing to electrical current issues that have been reported when doing so? Any "tested and approved" extensions out there?

^ Yes me2 the LSV is a real beast also when it's plugged in four other appliances, however i have problems when i want to use my LSV out of my house .

Already tried my LSV at 3 different friends houses and it's only working at half the power. It's still working though,, i don't know maybe it could be a frequency problem..

Frankly i'm lucky it's working perfectly at home, sometimes i'm even wondering if it doesn't run too hot . The outside of the LSV can become very warm if you leave the unit on for several hours..

Well anyway IME the LSV rocks paired with a bubbler. Very good draw, no restriction and a very good extraction. I only use it with a male to male adapter for smaller loads. :science:

My black LSV from another member delivers tomorrow so I'll get to try it dry for a week or so before my dhgate bubbler arrives. Good to hear its already exceeding expectations for you karaz. I'm glad I was still able to snap one up for a great price after that massdrop didn't pan out for us. Thanks to wonderful FC classifieds!

So this is kinda interesting. I have been primarily using my LSV and my MFLB in rotation and noticed the following. Even though the LSV provides a MUCH larger hit (by a LONG shot), the high from the LSV creeps more. The high from the MFLB comes on much quicker.

With the LSV, it takes me about 10 to 15 minutes for the full affect to come on. With the MFLB, it takes less than half that time, but................when the LSV does hit at about the 12 minute mark, it hits you in the head like a truck versus being lightly slapped on the face.

I wonder why the LSV is more of a creeper than the MFLB when it seems like the opposite should be true when one considers the hit size.

Do you draw slower with the MFLB than the LSV? I was just thinking that this might cause a slight shortness of breath in comparison to the LSV. This could maybe lead to a slight increase your heart rate so that you metabolise the actives quicker.

I'm afraid I've never actually used an MFLB so I'm not the best qualified person to be making guesses about this.

My SSV is the first thing to turn on when I get home, but recently all the band rehearsals have made me very aware that the SSV isn't ideal for the studio (generally it lives in my living room). I think the LSV will have a happy home in the studio. I am very interested in rigging up one of the lamp/mic stand setups people have figured out.

So I tried out the LSV with my custom silver surfer wand and i couldn't get it to vape at all. Switched in the regular transfer wand and BLAMMO! almost died coughing. I then completed the session with the regular transfer wand and everything was fine. Can anyone explain the discrepancy between these? I know the SSV GG wand is shorter, but not THAT much shorter!

I will be trying out the WPA tonight as well!

It would seem that you may have had more liberal air flow, and had to try to control the breathing in a more uncontrolled situation.
The added flow cools things considerably.
The transfer wands thin inner diameter makes the draw respectively more under control, so you can draw more slowly... more easily/comfortably.

YES! I see this now. The lsv wand has the SSV Standard hourglass while the SSV GG does not. This is unfortunate, because otherwise I already had a cool shorty wand!

I have tried the WPA with my VRIPTECH Water tool Perk and it blew me away. Amazing. I think I would greatly enjoy a vapor tamer as well.

On the unit overall:
I felt very strongly about the LSV especially because I trust 7th floor to make quality stuff. My SSV and everything I've gotten from them has been top notch. The LSV does not disappoint.
I was surprised how many people were saying how hot the thought the unit was to hold. I was surprised how relatively cool it stays! Every piece feels durable and the taste is great.
@Dj Bass you are absolutely right about not wanting a custom knob. My hands would be too big to avoid knocking it around. ×bump×

If i had one thing to say so far, It is odd to set down. I have a glass tabletop so it doesn't matter, but elsewhere in the house maybe get a silicon oven pad or something.

Well mine came today, no bubbler yet and plans tonight, so I tried just enough to cover the screen at 9 o clock (after a while heat up at higher). A little tasty hit. Turned up to 10. A thin hit. Tried turning up to 12 even at one point and not much of anything. So added more herb. Now were getting somewhere at 11 o clock... Third small hit at 12 gets clouds, couple more of those spaced out and im done. Stirring it, herb barely browned. Will come back to later...

In short, can already see how this thing is beastly, learning to be careful with it, especially considering more herbs are needed with the standard wand (tho I will try the EQ screens in it as well, included with the LSV by fellow FCer, those will be good for my bubbler male-male connection when that arrives from sunshinestore). I'm going to take it slow for now...

Well, ended up trying it out for the night with my gf and overall quite pleasant results once we figured it out a little. Seems like a decent amount of herb is needed, but with stirring bowls do last a while (the EQ screen test didnt go well, will try another time). Tricky thing was finding the lowest heat settings that could produce clouds, as i thought i could get them at 10 or 11 at least, but ive only really gotten decent results at 12:00, and ive gone up to about 1:30 max so far with many many clouds (i think it actually was still producing vapor in between hits, since i could see some thin wisps coming from the mouthpiece like a conduction vape would, when i used it at the end of the night in bed watching tv for an hour or so). I think 10 and 11 offered some more flavor, but really only had consistently satisfying results starting at 12 (which is when the core was hot enough to glow red, does that mean mines not hot enough as others' on those settings or is it still producing good heat while still white?). Should i try other outlets? I had it in a surge protector along with my tv and dvr.

I want to try higher temps at some point but i will have to continue to ease into it just to be safe. Its actually good i dont have a bubbler yet, this way i can pace myself a little and get to know Mr LSV better...

I see that some people try to keep the material in the regular transfer wand, while some people load it directly into the LSV internal screen. I tend to get somewhat uneven ABV (although much improved thanks to some tips from @Vitolo). What is everyone's preferred method for use with the regular transfer wand? I am not that interested in hitting it upside down. ..

Even though you're not interested in using it upside down, that is my preferred method. Just answering your question. MY bud never touches the screen in the heater cover. Used in this way, I can get absolutely HUGE clouds and about 5 to 6 hits with a very small load of about .05gr.

I've had my LSV for over a year now and never combusted once used in this way with the temp dial set at around 1:30.

Have had similarly uneven cooks with the transfer wand over the weekend, but your post makes me optimistic for when my bubbler comes and i can use it upright (and through water finally ofcourse!)

Thanks! I will start trying it. It's unfortunate because it is so much more comfortable to lay back on the couch with it upright, which IMO is one of the best features of the LSV (self contained, no whip etc).

Unevenly cooked loads is something I'm used to with this vape. Stir after every hit.
Do you load your material onto the internal screen?

UPDATE: I tried packing the material into the wand by gently tamping it with the round end of the glass pick. Hit it as I would like to, with the mouthpiece below me, but tried to be conscious of it, and lift the LSV a little bit near the end. I found that the performance had improved, and only small pieces occasionally fell in, easily sucked up by the wand. Near the end of the bowl, however, lifting the LSV the whole time to at least head level was necessary to prevent the bowl dumping in. Overall, not too shabby! Thanks @Vitolo, @lwien @stickstones

I've never loaded directly Into the LSV, only into the transfer wand or WPA.

If I do use the transfer wand, I give it a quick puff while inverted to make the bud stick together a bit, then just hold the LSV however I feel like.
Then just make sure it's inverted when removing the transfer wand.

I personally wouldn't load directly into the LSV because:
  • Possibility if crumbs falling through and combusting on the element - not major but if have to clean the heater cover more regularly than my current schedule of never.
  • Possibility of gunking up the HC screen. I've out tried replacing that screen once, and it was a PITA, so I've never tried again.
  • Possibility of bud getting stuck between the glass joints, and either preventing a proper seal, or causing things to stick together and seal up.
