I am not sure how old my second hand Aromed 4.0 is, but it still works like the first day i received it!

Since it comes with it's own small bubbler you will need adapters to get it to mate with your bubblers.
I use some high temp two part silicone material to make adapters.

I still break mine out sometimes to give it a rip but the Herbalizer, EVO and Nano rule the roost!
Flavor on the Aromed is amazing though!

EDIT: Just broke it out again to test something out.
It works best with the supplied small bubbler.
I tried my larger bubbler with it but it was not nearly as good!
And yes it still works like the bomb!

I have read most of the replies about the Aromed that I could find on the internet and on this site. I have seen a lot of unneeded hate. People tend to hate it for silly reasons. I have heard of people not liking the way it looks which I can understand but to say it doesn't work well is just wrong.

Now, I just bought this vape and it arrived last friday so I have had it for over a week now.

Onto the review.

The Aromed vaporizer fails at everything aside from impressing me since I received it! The flavor of the vapor is sublime but perhaps more crucial is the fact that my vape sessions have extended due to the clean vapor it produces. I bought the Extreme-Q from TorontoVaporizer a while back and found that after using it for a full session caused much too much irritation in my throat.

In order to reduce this I hooked the Extreme-Q up to a water-apparatus but it really did not help much with the dryness to my surprise. I have come to the conclusion that it is because the Extreme-Q(and most vapes) have a small fan blowing air towards you whereas the Aromed only uses your own lungs for power.

The Aromed exceeds expectations. The learning curve is quite fine in my opinion and I'm only discovering more tricks with it!

For the price, the value is exceptional with a two year warranty but I am not worried about this vaporizer ever breaking to be honest, especially since there isn't a fan (moving part)

The only other thing worth mentioning is that the glass pieces need to be utilized with care. This unit is the best vaporizer I have ever used (MFLB,Deluxe Daddy, Extreme-Q, NO2, Aromed, maybe a few others)

I can not see any way of improving it to be entirely honest.

I just experimented with 166 celsius and it worked good.

Usually I use it anywhere from 188-199 celsius

I start out at 190 and work my way up to the top temp.
Full spectrum, great extraction.
A few stirs here and there.

I second this review I have had aromed for about 7 years... Works great just use on carpet or vinyl so if you drop glass pieces they wont break........

Water tank keeps most irritants from reaching your throat.....

Now that I have owned the Aromed for a month I can say assuredly that it is something that just gets better and better with use.. My clouds are now in my control. Big-Heavy-Dense? SURE! Medium-Medium-Dense? You got it! Light-Density? Yup!

Hallo good people of the FC board. I write here because i purchased a 2nd hand AroMed, and I am in serious doubt about the state of the unit. The seller say it is almost unused, and it seems true, apart from one small thing. I can not get the herbholder to click with the heating element. I have been looking at the heating element, and it seems to me that there should be some kind of edge or ring that would hold the herbholder when placed correctly. I have not succeeded in finding a picture that shows the white plastic part of the heating element up close from the "bottom" eg. looking directly towards the light. Can anyone upload such a picture? I tried to make one myself here:

The heating element does not "click" into place.
You have to use the flexible neck to correctly mate the heating element and the bowl together.

Go back to page 17 and look at the eighth post for a picture of how to do it.

Yes, as lazylathe has said. Anyways I have found it is more of a knock than a click and if you can not push it down more and it's snug then it is on correctly. PS DO NOT TOUCH THAT LITTLE THING NEAR THE LIGHT. It is the sensor for temperature and if you touch it you might have to send it back to R&E to get them to adjust your temp settings

After combusting for far too long, I just switched to vapes... specifically the Aromed, Plenty, and Pax. While my Pax and Plenty are great for their respective purposes, I'm absolutely mesmerized by the potential inherent in my Aromed. I have so many different ideas of how to possibly use it (e.g. - Could I use extracts in the water to impart various flavors to the vapor?), and I wanted to see what others have come up with.

What's most interesting and creative twist you've come up with in using your Aromed?

Some things I've found through online research and my short experimentation with the Aromed:

1) Use a q-tip to place a little bit of olive oil on the ground glass connection to prevent "locking." I've also heard of others using wax;

2) Experiment with temperatures to determine what's right for you. I used this guide and this conversion chart to better understand and play with accessing different compounds at various temperatures levels/ranges. I currently prefer to either cycle my meds at 330F, 360F, 386F or go straight to 386F to access multiple compounds simultaneously. I don't go beyond 386F because that's approaching benzene release territory (really dry bud starts to combust at 200C/392F, too), and a main reason I vape is to avoid inhaling carcinogens. Besides, this leaves a nice light-brown AVB to make either baked goods or canna capsules (details on AVB extraction are an entirely different thread), which is almost like using the same bud twice! This is "green" on so many levels.

3) Clean the glass with a super-high proof alcohol (think Everclear) because it's healthier (not to mention a bit intense) to vape the residue from consumable alcohol rather than that from industrial grade rubbing alcohol. (I don't recommend this for those with alcohol consumption/processing problems... use the isopropyl and rinse with water very well). I've read that some people use other types of alcohol such as brandy because they really enjoy vaping the residue afterwards.

4) Put the bubbler with water into the freezer for a while before using and check out how much smoother the vapor is and the "sharpness" in taste (I'm not sure how else to describe it).

5) Unlike smoking, dry herb is actually better for vaping. If your herb isn't dry enough to vape properly, do a "run" at a much lower temp to quickly cure for vaping at normal temps. This is one of the things that's so dope about the Aromed: the ability to fine tune and maintain precise temperatures is phenomenal.

6) Be super careful when changing the bulb. Simply putting your fingers on the bulb itself or the sensor will alter functionality and skew the temperatures. Use a napkin to handle the bulb and just don't touch the sensor at all.

7) Using the Aromed is unlike any other vaporizer out there. It took me a few sessions to really get the hang of it. I couldn't get the bulb housing and herb bowl to "click" at first because I was too scared of breaking the glass. While it looks fairly thin, the glass is all super strong borosilicate (sp?) so I got over my nervousness. While I thought I understood the concept of titrating at different temperatures, the truth is that it took me several runs using all sorts of temperature combos before I truly got it. My point is this: give yourself time... it's so completely worth it.

That's all I have for now, but I'll be posting from time to time when I've come upon something interesting. There's just so little out there about using the Aromed, I'm really hoping some users here can post their own tricks/hints/suggestions.

Does anyone know just how difficult/easy it really is to mess up the temperature on the Aromed? Will slightly touching the bulb really matter?

also how efficient would you rate the aromed. Compared to a Solo, Volcano, Herbie, etc..

How is it clicking exactly? this is the main thing I was doubting at first. Also, is it just me, or does it seem that the heat does not really reach the edge of the herbchamber, leaving allot of unused herb there, or introducing the stirring as an absolute necessity??
I like allot of things with the AroMed, like the idea of primary glass, the light, the waterfilter and more, but i dislike the feeling that my herb could be better used and that the vapor seems very VERY thin. I used an Iolite before and must say that the vapor was much more plenty with that, then what i have gotten after a week of AroMed trials. I have a feeling that i must be doing something wrong???

At first I was scared to push too hard for fear of breaking the glass, but I got the hang of it eventually. This design seems frustrating initially, but they did this because this design stands the test of time. I assure you that there will be no unused herb if you connect it properly. Just remember that this is incredibly strong glass and this design has been tried and true for over a decade. Once you "click" it in once or twice, you'll realize how easy it is (kinda like riding a bike).

As for "thin" vapor, remember that you're not smoking. People who go after "thick" vapor are trying to re-create a bong experience, which is like getting in a Bentley and being unhappy because there's no loud roar to the engine like a Mustang. If a vaporizer is giving you "vapor" like a bong, then it's not functioning in the truest sense of a vaporizer.

That being said, I'm almost positive that your issue is not getting the proper seal. When I couldn't get a good seal the first couple of times I used it, my herb wasn't being vaped either. Get that seal right, and I promise you'll be quite happy.

Touching the bulb will impact how it functions. I won't go into technical detail, but essentially it will burn differently than it's designed to do and therefore you won't really know what temp you're vaping at. If you touched the bulb with your hand, I suggest you toss it and just use a new one. It sucks to burn another $10-15, but it sucks even more to vape your much more expensive herb the wrong way.

The aromed is the most efficient vaporizer with the possible exception of the Herbalizer, which I admit I don't know much about other than it is advanced and also uses a halogen bulb as a heat source. The aromed's bulb is above the herb (so the heat rises away from the herb instead of rising toward it and vaping it regardless of whether you're pulling or not) and does not use a fan (which pushes the hot air over the herb thus vaporizing it whether you pull or not), so it never vapes your herb without you pulling the hot air from above the herb downward simply by inhaling. The Aromed's sensor reads the temperature 50 times/second and adjusts the bulb's temperature each time to maintain your set temp throughout your draw. Whip vapes without this feature can have temp swings of 50F or more during draws. Studies done in Europe, where the Aromed is covered as medical equipment by 6 health insurance companies because of its scientifically-proven efficacy, showed the Aromed to have a 90% utilization efficiency. That's good enough for me.

I hope I don't sound like a salesman or anything. I'm just a very empirically-oriented person who appreciates function over form... and the Aromed excels at just that.

IceCold, which kind of bulbs can I buy? Do i need to order them from the company?

its the same with all bulbs Tbone Toker,i use 50w 12V osram bulbs, just make sure its uv free.its in every electro shop mate,

Aromed tip: I just figured out why some people are having such a hard time connecting the herb chamber to the light casing. Make sure the "screw cap," which goes over the bulb, is screwed in all the way. Mine had come unscrewed by a few turns and that made "clicking" the chamber and casing really difficult. Once I screwed it back in, no problems anymore.

And I spoke with someone at Research & Experience (Aromed maker) regarding drinking the water from the bubbler after vaping, and it's a real thing y'all.

I'm down with trying it, but I'm having a problem keeping tiny particles from getting between the screen and the glass and into the bubbler. Anyone else have the same problem? I want to use vodka in the bubbler because it has a much lower freezing point than water and allows me to get incredibly smooth pulls, but it would be great to then drink vodka infused with essential oils and active compounds... but I can't figure out a way to not get bits of herb into the bubbler.

Suggestions?

Strain through a coffee filter or just drink it down herb particles and all. Many people just eat their AVB dry after a session so a little plant matter shouldn't hurt you at all.

It's not about hurting me (I've eaten worse than that), but it's more about the flavor and consistency. I don't want to strain through a coffee filter because that will alter the taste. Maybe cheese cloth would work.

Cheese cloth is a first class way to go, you can find the unbleached 'paper' filters no taste. I can't taste anything from the white, cheap find 'em anywhere filter.

cheese cloth or those canvas?/cloth coffee/tea strainers would be my first choice.

Does anybody know the specs on the silicone tubing for the AroMed 4.0? It's about time to replace mine, but it's stupid to keep buying the individual packs. I want to buy 10' but I don't know which size tubing to get.

just buy it off PlanetVape I am pretty sure it is the correct size.. Besides a little smaller tubing is actually quite nice!

I know where to get the official single-length tubing, but I'm looking to get a long roll platinum grade medical silicone tubing and cutting my own lengths each time. Paying $20 for a 2-ft section of silicone tubing is insane. My problem is that I don't know the size of the openings.
