Thank you...

Dr. Vapes et al - how much time are you guys finding best to soak the silicon mouthpiece in both the ISO and coconut milk in order to remove the smell?

Any input is appreciated - got in on the charger now!

The answer is: longer than you think. I did it briefly and the smell is still there and quite gross on top of that. Also there still is a faint smell coming from the device after 5+ empty burn-offs... People over there might not be very sensitive but my girlfriend is, I really hope it will go away.

It gets better! I had the same issue, for a while, did many many burn offs and I think I got it now. Also boiled the mouthpiece for a few hours and that wasn't enough, then tried using dishsoap and still not enough. Had to soak in ISO for a couple hours and rinse with dish soap again and use a couple times before its neutral. Even then, flavor isn't great with this vape, despite the 390-iah temp, even the first hits are just ok and nowhere near the deliciousness like you get when you use the Indica starting off at purple

I hope the manufacturer is reading this thread and making notes for the next version. Hopefully it will include a better mouthpiece, less plastics to stink, and a sealed vapor path. Although the intake is short through the holes in the body the air has to pass through some wires attached to the underside of the oven (covered with some flexible synthetic material, likely held with solder or glue) and the battery/electronics compartment is not completely sealed from the section holding the oven where the outside air comes in. It's hard to know what the stinks are coming from and what is being breathed in as a result. More heating = more offgassing. Hello manufacturer?

What do women sex toy forums and the FC Vapormax V thread have in common?

Its appears its the shared desire to remove the smell of silicon from their new purchases! ;)

Anyway - after no luck with the ISO/coconut milk soaking overnight (the mouthpiece still had a strong smell) , I found a remedy online that worked wonders. First soak the mouthpiece for a few minutes in white vinegar (apparently a natural odor neutralizer), then wipe it down inside and out (Q-tip helps here) with vinegar. Get a small dish and mix in 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 3 tablespoons hot water until relatively dissolved. Soak the mouthpiece in this solution (stirring once in a while) for at least 3 hours.

Now for the oven. Take a Q-tip damp with vinegar, wipe down the heating chamber with unit upside down so as not to get any in the vapes internals. Let stand upside down for a few minutes. Wipe down again as described above with some of the remaining baking soda solution. Let stand again for a few minutes. Wipe chamber as described above once again with a Q-tip dampened with clean water. Let dry. Do a burn-off and your done!

Voila! No smell, neutral, nada, none, done - like a breath of fresh air!

Hi everyone! I'm just in the process of getting my hands on one of these Flowermates, after being fed up with the Pinnacle Pro's pitiful battery life.

Has anyone had any success in pairing the Flowermate with the Pinnacle's water tool? If you were to cut off the top of the mouthpiece would it fit? Or maybe with a rubber O-ring around the base of the mouthpiece? Is there even any point in using a water tool since this only vapes at a relatively low temp?

Also, anyone tried vaping some hash maybe in a bit of cotton to stop it gunking up the inside?

I haven't tried any of this, but it's been stated by others that the mp is too tall to fit the Pinnacle WT, your idea of cutting it down may work, or sealing it off some other creative way, I'd try that if I had a spare MP.

I used a lot of kief in my PnP bullets, but I'm only putting ground flowers in the FMVV oven. I don't want to risk gunking it up, the PnP bullet cartridge system makes this much less risky. I will say I'm very surprised on how easy it is to keep the oven clean using just flowers, it extracts really well, so only dry non-sticky ABV is left and you can just dump and blow it out. There is also no stickiness on the unit around the oven, I can't feel inside it so I don't know about that, but there's little to no discoloration in the oven after several uses.

I'm interested to hear the results of any brave soles that try running any concentrates through this thing.

If you load it well you can pull some decent clouds from it. I prefer putting an extra slip of silicone over the mouthpiece. I feel it would be nice with a PN water tool, my video doesn't show too great of vapor from the jhook bubbler but a water tool would be nice as the hits can get very harsh from heat.

It doesn't vape well when upside down.

Got my second unit yesterday. From David @Vnice (same place as Flower...I expect they are all equally helpful).
This one is red (original from the "cheap" days is silver). Really like the color.

I've only done some "testing" but my first impression is that seems to be running a bit hotter than the earlier model. I actually like it better. Have no way of verifying this and further "testing" may prove it an illusion. Its probably something like a 5º boost, but its closer to the temp I like.

FWIW-A quick shot in the Ultrasonic with some Simple Green and I've had no issue with the mouthpiece...either of them.

I was also thinking mine might be set to a slightly higher temp, just based on my AVB alone. Its definitely still a little below Indicas purple 394 though I think.

I found that the clear tube mouthpeice from a MFLB fits well into the silicone mouthpiece of the Flowermate. This seems to help decrease the draw resistance by keeping it from being pinched in your mouth and slightly helps to cool down the vapor. You can also now easily attach some silicone tubing onto the MFLB mouthpiece to make it as long as you like or onto another device.

OK - got the unit charged, did a number of burn-offs and deodorized the unit.

Quick question for all of you FM owners - are these supposed to be a bitch to draw on or is there something wrong with mine? Its like sucking a golf ball thru a garden hose! Is this normal with the 'as-is' set up right out of the box? Is there any way to ease the draw resistance?

Pull off the mouthtip and you'll find a "filter" stuck in the bottom of it. Pry that out, put the mouthpiece back on and you'll find it to be much better.

Thanks...

Yeah, I shit-canned that little plug immediately but its still a difficult draw. Any other suggestions? Maybe this is "normal' as I am used to balloons but I didn't expect it to be this much resistance...

Some have replaced the mouthpiece with a silicone tube. There was also something about moving the screen up, but I can't remember exactly what they were doing. I suppose if you were careful you could enlarge the mouthpiece with a drill.

But I just use a slow steady draw. Remember its a small bowl and as you are drawing through it you are cooling it down. Give it a couple of seconds (5 or so) between pulls to recover. And if you are chasing clouds forget it. Doens't generate the heat I don't believe.

Currently testing this unit in Amsterdam. I wasn't expecting much, but I'm actually quite impressed. Especially at the price point, which I hear is going to be around 70-80 euros locally.

Things I like:

- Simple, minimal design. No bells and whistles but it just does its job, without getting in the way.

- We've been getting surprisingly good clouds from it. Vapor production is on par with the competition IMO (Ascent, Solo, MFLB etc)

- Fast heatup time

- It vaporizers the weed VERY evenly and completely. There are no green bits left in the weed afterwards, its a uniform chocolate brown. No need to stir the weed.

- Large bowl size, I'm guessing .3 of a gram capacity. I have found that packing the weed down into the bowl does restrict the draw slightly, but this vaporizer can handle it. Even when the bowl is tightly packed to full capacity, it vaporizes the weed evenly and completely, which is pretty amazing. This aspect reminds me of a Herbalaire.

- Its light and small, self contained, pocket-friendly. No breakable parts. Outer shell is durable, seems like anodized aluminum.

- Impressive battery life. On the first test, my friend and I had trouble killing the battery over a 2+ hour session

- It gives 200 euro portables a run for their money, yet costs less than half

Things I don't like:

- Draw speed is a bit slow, but this issue applies to the majority of portable vapes currently on the market

- Sliding doors feel a bit too plastic

- Wish it didn't have the cannabis leaf design on it

Yet another good idea bud! ;)

Think I'll drill out that first section below the silicon mouthpiece (the disc with 5 holes) - that seems to be the bottleneck.

I really like my Flowermate, but the bottom storage door has now become very loose and sometimes pops off by itself. I've almost lost my mouthpiece twice now. The door pops back on ok, but now I'm a bit nervous about the oven door. It is still rather tight, but if it gets loose, I may lose a large aspect of portability not being able to carry it loaded up. Otherwise great, but this is a troublesome flaw to me.

I have the same issue with the top lid. It goes back on but it seems to be in a state of deterioration. Otherwise it is still going strong.

I thoroughly enjoy my unit, but got to toying with it tonight.

The silicone mouthpiece is okay, but I came from a DaVinci Ascent, and I did love the glass pathway on the ascent. When I received my ascent I received a whip for the original davinci vaporizer (not sure why). On a whim today I took the glass straw from the ascent and stretched the silicone from the davinci whip (the small section that covers the metal that screws into the ascent, not the mouthpiece), and found that it inserted nice and snug into the FM.

I took my first and ka-boom, there was that glass pathway feel that I was missing.

I also like that it extends the distance from the oven to your mouth, I think it may allow the vapor to cool down some.

I know this probably speaks to only a very small audience, but for anyone with a Davinci vape and a glass mouthpiece of similar size to the Ascent, this mod appears to be a solid one.

Davinci's website states that the silicon on their whip is medical grade. I'm assuming that means to all the silicon on the whip.

I actually tried taking out the screen and only using the five holes, but you have to pack herb down tight so it doesn't clog. It wasn't really the best solution, but the little screen they include just gets all clogged to me, I think that is the issue, but let us know how your mod works. Maybe you've found the culprit

My little metal mp screen is starting to get clogged, I am going to have to ISO soak it and scrub it a little. Can probably rig replacements out of my vape supply stash of various screens when it gets uncleanable. It is so tiny, I have dropped it many times and thankfully was able to find it in the rug cameoflage.

Has anyone tried to reclaim oil from the MP yet? My metal piece is getting gunky and the inside of the silicone too. On the PnP, I imagine this is all the stuff that makes the collar and PonG so sticky, but you can't reclaim from any PnP plastic parts. I have other glass things to soak for reclaim so I may just put this all together and collect it all.

I must have jinxed myself. Just went to pull out the FMVV to find the oven door had opened by itself and contents all spilled out into the jacket pocket. :cuss: Would be much more perturbed if I had paid more than what I did for this unit.

I may have to carry it around with the MP in it permanently to avoid this spillage problem. PITA.
