Arizer Solo

Hello all. Quick question. My solo arrived (ty Randy) I unboxed it and lugged it in. At first the lights were at 5 and workes their way up to 7 while the charge light was blinking green. its now solid green and its only been about an hour and a half. I am supposed to leave it charging 8 hrs first time now matter what the lights do?

At the risk of repeating myself in 24 hours, the short answer is yes. The explanation is a little ways back (probably where you got the 8 hour number????).

Your call, but the advice remains. First order of business is an 'overnight' charge. Cheat that if you wish, it's yours.

solid green means its done charging. so the battery is ready. you are going to want to do 2 or 3 full sessions dry... by that i mean put a stem in, turn it all the way up to 7, and let it run its session w/out anything in it. do that a 2-3 times and then its good to go.

I still say 'might'. Before it can be recommended it needs to be researched I think. That would include a careful search for heat buildup. If advice given out here leads to guys pulling weak batteries and running in a mode the maker never intended and that leads to some failure rendering the Solo that at most needed a battery before hand dead that will be a true disservice. It's got potential, but IMO not an option as yet.

One of those 'first, do no harm' things. Bum me right out if someone followed my advice and came to grief. I'm sure you're the same.

FWIW I wonder if the flashing lights is instability in the supply. Probably not ripple, but I guess that's possible. There's nothing to charge, so it's probably not the same instability I'm looking at. I'm wondering if it's a function of the exact voltage (like what I'm seeing seems to be)?

What does yours do if used with the PA and no battery?

solid green means its done charging. so the battery is ready.

I'm sorry, I strongly disagree. While that's OK advice (actually I favor stopping before it goes solid for maximum battery life) generally, the question was specifically about the initial out of the box treatment.

Unless you know why it should be otherwise, my advice stands.

What does yours do if used with the PA and no battery?

It depends on exactly what voltage as I recall. If you're careful you can get it to do PA mode (no battery mains only) down to lower voltages than the old style allowed? And it doesn't go nuts above 9.0 like before.

Somewhat the same, only different?

Hi guys. I discovered this thread a couple of months ago and have spent that time lurking through the 1000+ pages trying to catch up :) . And first I gotta say a massive thank u to the guys in the know who pass on the knowledge with no reward. Y'all deserve medals (OF deserves 3) for what ive learned here. Thank you.
Anyway I bought my first solo M107 about 18 months ago (vaped like a boss for 1 1/2 yr) and my second 3 months ago for the new features :/
I had problems with a couple of the new units but luckily (and heres the reason for my post) I bought from Vapefiend. 1of the few authorised dealers here in the uk. listening to u guys talk about randy @PuffItUp and his amazing customer service I thought our george @VapeFiend deserved representing. When I bought my M1A it developed heating problems within a few days. Within 1week I had phoned George @VapeFiend, sent back my old unit and recieved a new M1C. What sevice! However it didnt take long till the M1C developed problems. I phoned george and again within 7days I had a brand new M1T in my hand! What more could I ask for?
Its hard to find a trusted arizer dealer in the uk and with shipping prices ordering from the U.S can become costly if something goes wrong with the unit.
I just wanted to share the knowledge with all the uk readers and highly highly recommend vapefiend.uk. The guy deals with all warranty claims which means no getting your unit sent to canada to get it fixed! Vapefiend is even great for the accessories (he has eds stems and gongs in his uk catalogue! What a champ!)

Anway thanks again guys for all your help and ideas. Hopefully this thread will go for another 1000 pages!

What do folks do for stems-on-the-go? I have corks handy, but they are bulky. I'm thinking maybe using balloons as stemly condoms. Spilling weed is as bad as spilling seed.

I use Saran Wrap for my cold Pre-loaded stems .
They're cheap and can even be re-used several times .
I find it easy to switch stems and keep the herbs in tight .
If you have one of those vapecases they gift you , I can fit 4 straight pre-loaded stems ready for action in them .

I had minor spillage , when using the mflb caps .
And you can also buy them at a Hardware store under ' screw caps ' .

Just unboxed my brand new Arizer Solo!!!

And it hit the charging station, time to wait a few hours -_-

When I do the burn-off dry runs, should I have a stem in or no?

no stem is needed , but it's a good time to test the fitting .
Some stems are a bit tight in the beginning , it'll loosen up over time .

Edit ;
@smokey mcpotpot
There's a theory that using while charging maybe the cause of faulty batteries in the newer versions , thanx for the data .
Have a good night .

First, thanks for the kind words.

Secondly, very cool you've got your very own 'Randy' (owner of PIU) 'over there'. Such resources are worth nurturing IMO. I like throwing my money their way, knowing they'll be there should I need them. IMO such service/support is worth some extra coin. While I have no problem with guys who haunt the net looking for the lowest price expecting such Dealers to give up their profit to 'price match', it's not my style I guess. I see it as them giving us an honest offer designed to cover their costs and service, I can accept that or take my trade elsewhere. Again, I get it not all feel the same way. For some money is very tight. But I see the Solo as a tool for consuming something like 250 grams of herb (300 cycles, 8 sessions per cycle, two sessions per stem, .2 grams per load), $30 or so more in purchase price, or for a new battery, seems trivial on that scale to me. Peace of mind, a rare find, and reasonably priced.

Anyway, sorry to ramble, but sounds like you've got a great resource there, good luck to all.

I run it empty (cover open), but and empty stem seems OK as well? As has been pointed out, this is also a good time to deal with stem fit. Sometimes it has to be hot to let the stem in the first time.
Officially a Solo owner as of today!

Does anyone know if I need to do anything like burn off or clean the stems before use? Any precautions I should know of before I get to work?

Congrats.

Yes, read back a bit we've discussed charging for 8 hours (ignore the charge light going solid, watch the clock.....) the first thing.

If you want to clean the stems (probably a good idea, you're going to put one end in your mouth.....), this is the time to do that too. Some guys love ISO for stuff like this (probably has to do with 'playing doctor' when young.....), I use dish soap and hot water. It's just glassware, there's no nasty resin that's hard to remove yet.

Some/most guys are big on burn offs. IMO it's not so important on Solo, but have at it, can't hurt.

Then, enjoy your Solo. That's the part that takes the longest.

How to vape pure keif in solo? Without adding bud

I would not without cotton or something under it. It's sure to stain the cup.

If 8 continuous hours isn't possible without having to stop it then plug it in again somewhere else, is 6 hours good enough? That's the most I can do unless I plug it out after 6, then re-plug it in for 2 more when I go to my friends place later tonight.

So far it's been charging for 2.5 hours out the box (green light stopped flashing a while ago)

Sure. The idea is 8 hours of charging before any discharging. It can be all at one time, or in pieces, same effect.

There's probably not much difference between 6 and 8 hours of course, but I'm not going there. You know people, 6 will become the new rule for everyone, and guys will ask 'why not four?'.

I know the wait is tough, but it's a one time only thing and you can forever enjoy a clear conscience afterwards.

Good luck with it.

take it off.. you're ready to go if the green light has stopped flashing...

On what do you base that advice? Do you know the logic behind the idea of a full forming charge? Why don't you agree with it then?

Thank you! Yes the wait is very difficult haha.

Is there any recommended temps to stay on? I assume the lower temps result in a more sativa high compared to higher temps resulting in a indica type high?

Yer welcome fer sure Bro! Hang in there, this too shall pass......

It's gobs easier if you've got another vape to keep you company, serious kudos to you not breaking down and rolling 'one last number'.

If you survive, it'll make you stronger........

My personal favorite is step 4 for both speices. I started out with 2 and 3 (Sativa and Indica) but ended up with 4 as a compromise? Hey 'try 'em all'? I found it got kinda harsh 5 and up, but with a WT that net is down. Then the call is for vapor, and plenty of it at times. Step 7 and buckle up.

I generally grind kinda fine, about .20 grams to the stem, and usually go two sessions on each load.

Fun machine, does a lot well.

You should be thinking bubbler you know. Yer gonna want one.......

I have another question for you good folks. Following my initial 8 hour charge, every time after that to what level should I charge it to (I'm assuming full, steady green light) and what's the lowest level I should ever let it get to before I charge again?

So for someone that mostly used the solo at home with the PA, but now has one of the new solos instead….how should they change their usage habits ?

I'm assuming I don't want to use it with the PA when it's at charge level 7, because it will be charging when it's already fully charged (or close to it).

So just run it off batteries at least until it gets a little drained ? Or drain it down (not fully, to charge level 1 ?) and then just use it with the PA after that until it's fully charged again ? (not fully..charge level 7 before the light stops blinking)

I believe OF said to drain it down to power level 1 (but don't completely drain it till it's dead)

And charge it up to 7 (but don't fully charge it…pull it before the green light stops blinking)
