I want something pretty similar but with an 18mm joint and about 2 - 3 inches in length.

Ok guys I wanna get whipping up some solo stuff but I've gotta make a few more bucks to be able to place my glass order. So here's some fresh nano stems or you're more than welcome to pre order some solo stuff (it'll just be a bit longer wait).

I don't do j hooks yet as bending tubing is still hard for me. I'll post a pic of everything I currently have. Also you can look back through the thread and if there's something you see that strikes you I can whip it up.

Sorry to keep asking but have you gave the SSV wand a try? Is it harder than I imagine? I'm thinking you could just take any one of them nano stems and just flair it out like this:
And I did a little comparison of my VB mini vs e-nano stock vs PVHES Solo stem and there isn't much difference in tubing size. Is the stock Solo stem different size than a PVHES stem? It looks much bigger from your image.
My PVHES stem has a smaller diameter than my nano stem, until you get to the bowl part, then it is only slightly bigger.
What size is the nano? 10mm? I can't imagine needing 14mm for a Solo stem, my PVHES looks to be around 9mm.

I've dabbled a bit on the ssv wand. Working on getting that flare just right.
With the solo the o.d. Is the number that matters and that number is 14. With the nano the I.d. Is the number that matters and that number is 9.5 with an o.d. Of 12-13 on a stock non heavy stem. I've measured 300 times and I'd like to only cut once. Lol

I got ya. So are you going to use a 14mm and then stretch the bowl part to be 15? Or some of each 14 and 15 and combine the two?
I was thinking you could just stretch the 10mm non heavy stems OD by a few mms, but I have no clue how glass blowing works. Just trying to wrap my head around it.
Yeah the stretching part is hard to do consistently. It's much easier for a person of my current skill level to start with tubing that's very close to what I already need then tweak it a bit. These should be some very beefy solo stems with the design I have in mind. Factory solo stems actually have an o.d. Of like 13.85mm. So I'll actually have to shrink the 14mm tubing by just a hair. Some of these tolerances are crazy close. For instance that little lip that the nano stems stop on is less than 1mm. So it makes things that seem very easy quite difficult in reality.
I don't think it'll cover them any more than the factory ones do now. They look to me to be right under the lip of the stem already. We shall soon see. I placed my order and will be pumping some out by weeks end.
I'll keep it in mind. If it causes issue then I'll go back to the drawing board and people will get some free shit. Lol
Yeah that was already the work around I had in mind. Been wanting to buy a dremel and some diamond bits anyways! Lol

Here's my thoughts, and I am by no means a glass blower. Heck, I haven't even stayed in a Holiday Inn Express for years!
The metal heating chamber is constructed using exact dimensions. The glass pieces, on the other hand, can vary slightly and will typically have rounded-over, polished edges. With that in mind, take a look at the image below:
The black outline represents the heating chamber in the Solo. Note the air openings at the bottom. The blue outline represents the glass stem inserted into it.
Now if the glass stem has a rounded edge, wouldn't it be unlikely that the edge of the stem would cover the air holes in the heating chamber?
This is the reason I rounded over the bowl of my metal / wood stem. It's my belief that the rounded edge not only ensures the air holes don't get blocked, but they also allow more efficient air travel around the edge of the bowl so that heated air is drawn in more evenly.

if you are able, definitely notch the glass bowl in the solo stems. PV has an entire lineup of stems that sell on this point alone...when they can get them in stock. You will be making the draw more open than the stock stem I sent you.

I'll try to take a better pic that shows more of the range of colors. It is a super beautiful stem. Depending on how the light hits it will appear either a reddish, an amber, or amber with beautiful purples. I did have some trouble getting the adjust-a-bowl in but it slid in the pinched end and I just took the stem out for a test drive and the flavor is amazing. These should be called "JoDa's E-Nano Flavor Stems", they're a little smaller in circumference and length than the stock stems but they're so great. If you use a dry path, these are wonderful. Excellent fit with the nano, as well as air flow.
I'm in the market for a reasonably priced j-hook, I know @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd is still learning to blow but if he comes out with something cool, I'd buy one for sure.
