I thought that the ssv tubing got a bit too hot when connected directly to the bowl.
It's a great fit, but a filtered extension also works great here and cools things off a bit

Hello Everyone,

I was one of the Pre-Order buyers and got mine shipped out on 12-23-13 and then got it very shortly afterwards. I have now had this amazing / outstanding / great device for awhile and thought I would put in my .02. Not much though to be honest hasn't been covered. If you read all the pages of this thread you've got everything you would ever want to know or need. Along with that I don't know the easter egg and would love to have someone PM me what it is, or maybe I do know and just don't think of it as an easter egg. I don't know but either way a PM would be appreciated.

Aroma Therapy Review - None, never have used it nor do I see myself using it.

Vapor Review and Review about the unit and everything else -

The unit is well constructed and I can see where some members are saying a latch would be nice. Completely understand that and agree. I have not had many problems with the unit to be honest. The very rare freeze and all I do is open and close it and its right back on track. This thing is incredible and has cut down my session times a ton. Its heated up and ready to go in a matter of seconds. So if you have some pre-ground material or a pre-packed bowl you're ready to go in no time whatsoever. This is a huge plus up as even just a one hitter to run with is easy and quick. Plus much more potent than from my MFLB or Extreme-Q. Those are my other two. The Extreme-Q because of this unit is now sitting in its death spot in my attic.

I only use bags to be honest. I just prefer it. I tried the whip and dot get me wrongs its great, just something I just don't prefer. The bags are of great quality and a full bag depending on factors can take anywhere from 45 to 70 sec to fill. I love it as I can see the density and know how much I'm getting. The bags have lasted me a long time and I usually am at the Intense zone.

I guess I will just list a couple of quick complaints: None are major.
1. I have to hold the bag on the adapter. Otherwise it can fall off or leak, I just now compensate this with using my cell phone in the other hand. And a way of making sure the bag doest leak when using it as I have to hold my finger over the opening.
2. I remove my bowl the same way each time, and the metal piece that goes around the Herbalizer heating unit itself has shifted, but I just use my hard side of the brush to fit back into place.
3. Sometimes it takes a while to heat down, I find it easier to just take off the bowl and put the fan on or turn it off.
4. I prefer having it on a higher surface than the small gel pads on the bottom provide. I have felt the bottom and it gets quite toasty over time.
5. The top screen can get clogged up quick. ( See attached pic, am I grinding too fine? Using a MFLB Micro Grinder.)

Thats it. Other than the above, I have nothing other bad to say about this vaporizer. Its well worth every penny and has paid for itself in bud savings. As you can tell from my posted pics, I use it quite a lot. And even ABV material has some life left to it. And everyone that companied about the revving noise, that to me doesn't concern me at all or bother me, I kinda like it. It pumps me up letting me know its time to get started.

Pros:
Everything about it is great. Its a precise machine, looks great, works great, and performs constantly. It does what its designed to do plus more. The included accessories are nice and work with the machine as a whole. This thing has changed my life and how I vaporize. Being able to set the temp and have it work each time as expected is great. Everything that I have had to clean has been simple to do and the unit is still up and running perfectly with daily use multi times a day. I use very little bud to get a lot lifted. It get a 9/10 from me. Thank you to everyone that created it.

If your on the fence, get one, you'll be happy, believe me.

I got to run about a half gram of my buddies freshly made crumble through the Herbie yesterday. I was kinda worried at first about how much of a mess it would be but it wasn't at all. This thing blows through anything you throw at it. I'm curious to know what temp others are using for their waxes/oils? I started at around 420 ( hehehe ) and ended all the way at max temp.

I have, am I suppose to be surprised with something that may have awesome guts but puts out a crappy product? I guess I care more about the quality of the vapor than how that vapor is produced. Just because you can dial it in to different temps, doesn't mean its groundbreaking. The year is 2014, why step back 5 or more years?
How many times have you used the Herbalizer to determine that it's a crappy product? I get the feeling you're just an armchair critic forming useless, unwarranted opinions. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure any serious vaporist who has tried the Herbalizer yet, hasn't thought it was a crappy product.

Almost there...
This morning i decided to clean my glass!
I only have 4 pieces at the moment so it does not take too long.

While i was cleaning my one piece, the Atomic perc recommended by @PoopMachine , i remembered a discussion we had in one of the threads. The atomic has a removable mouthpiece that has a male 18.8mm joint, so the joint on the actual glass is a female 18.8mm.
Digging through my glass i found an 18 -18 male joint, perfect for my plan!

This is what the Atomic perc looks like:
http://www.glasspipemaster.com/atomic-prec-glass-pipe.html

So using the 18/18 connector i attached my Swagger LE HT to the Atomic!!
I end up with what i like to call:
The Tower of Power!

Very smooth hits with very good flavour!
I was surprised by the amount of flavour without the slightly harsh ending.

Bags ruled my world the first two weeks, but now I've discovered the power of the whip and I'm not looking back.

There's no wait with the whip and I don't feel any heat in my throat using the whip like I do with Da Buddha, Hotbox or any other whip vape, they can be harsh, but Herbie even on max temp isn't even close to harsh. Amazing job on this front.

The base of the tube gets hot, too hot to handle if you're taking long hits at high temps.

Pulling/inhaling takes some effort without the fan, but damn, the fan plus the whip is a powerful combo! I love it, so fast at delivering medicine when I'm feeling nauseated all of a sudden. Definitely commend using the fan assist with the whip to extract the most from a bowl, it's very efficient.

Whip it up, my friends!

Tried bags once...will try again someday but not really for me. Hooked Herbie up to water but don't do it much, I prefer my other vapes through water mostly, but with Herbie I've become a whip convert. I really thought I would be using whip to water tool mostly, but it's just so convenient to throw the whip on and inhale smooth vapor.

For me, Herbie is an excellent morning vaporizer, I use it mostly at the start of the day rather than at night, just a personal preference I guess. Goes good with my a.m. cup of joe on the weekends.

The DDave Herbalizer Review

So, what's the deal? The deal... the Real Deal is Herbie!

So what can I say that hasn't been said already? Instant/Precise Temperatures, Well Thought Out, Nice Looking. Easy to use & clean.. It's all in this thread already.

Since comparisons of Vape against Vape are not looked upon favorably, I bring to the table a review of Herbie against the DDave Mod! As many are aware, I wasn't satisfied with the performance of a previously used vaporizer, so I set out to improve it. After a bit of trial and error (much more trial, much less error! hahahaha), the DDave Mod was born. The mod allowed this particular vaporizer to reach a higher heat at herb level, extract goodies from product with less effort, allowed quicker elevation when necessary but also accommodated a slow flavorful session, and was easy to clean/maintain. This mod was met with much enthusiasm, as more FCers implemented and circled back to report results.

So, why do I present this in a thread dedicated to Herbie? Because Herbie does all this! And does it SO MUCH BETTER!

Extraction: (or Mass Extraction?) Don't have time? Feeling a bit down or woozie? Or worse, nauseous? Need a quick lift. Sometimes we all do. I had to mod my last vape in order to come closer to what Herbie already has covered completely... The Art of Extraction! Just set your desired temperature, put a quantity of herbs in the bowl, and hit the whip in whatever fashion is needed. Slow and steady or like you're trying to mimic the vacuum in a Black Hole in outer-space... no matter. Herbie's awesome heater and intelligence keeps up! When extraction is complete, the vapor production just stops... the product spent... (no wispy remaining flavorless hits like is seen with other units whose temps vary during use.) Winner: Herbie!

Effects: With the DDave Mod, there was a good amount of guessing to be done. Now, with Herbie, there's no guessing. Even if you just picked up a new strain, after an initial temperature-to-effect experimentation session, just dial in your desired temp and duplicate your desired results EVERY TIME! Precision heat, kept at desired levels, makes dosing easier and expected effects so much more predictable. Need to elevate just enough to relieve that headache, a bit more to kill the nausea monster, or reach sedation level quickly to chase away the vertigo or get some much needed sleep, Herbie has what you need-when you need it! Special delivery! Winner: Herbie!

Ease of use: That was a big benefit IMO of the DDave Mod. Very easy to load, process, and unload your product. Very few parts to clean. Hit and run style! Herbie has this covered, and beat! The bowl is awesome! Quarter turn to open/close, genius! Product enclosed by double screens (sound familiar yet?) so no spillage, no fuss, no muss (and what the h3ll does that mean?)... it means you'll spend more time enjoying Herbie and less time bathing him! This bowl remains incredibly clean on its own. And keeping the screens clean is a simple as swapping their locations occasionally, so the top screen in placed in bottom of bowl and vice-verse. If you ask for easier, I may as well just vape your herbs for you! Winner: Herbie!

Safety: Anyone think of this much? In order to be ready for use at all times, the DDave Modded vaporizer needed to be on, heating at desired temperature, all the time. I know this isn't near combustion levels, but there was still a really hot unit sitting out that at minimum could burn someone unexpectedly. With Herbie's rapid heating technology, that is no longer an issue at all... not even a passing thought... Why? Because Herbie doesn't need to be running at set temperatures... he'll come up to set heat quicker than you will be ready for him to! Plus, don't discount the auto-shutoff function, should he be tipped over! Winner: Herbie!

Stealth: So, anyone rate a Desktop Vape for Stealth yet? Yeah, there's been some mention... but I'll take it a bit further. With the DDave Modded vape, the stealth factor was in the fact that it included an AromaTherapy bowl, that would kind-of hide that fact that it was an MMJ-related device. Did that work for me? No. In order for my unit to be ready for use at all times, the actual herb-processing bowl of the unit needed to be installed and heating, so AromaTherapy bowl was out, and so was the Stealth Factor! With Herbie, that all changed! Needing only a Whip and power cord to connect, I don't even need to leave him out in the open. He's safely tucked away, behind locked cabinet door. When needed, he comes out to do his work. When done, disconnect power cord, roll whip, and store... Even without the black mask, very Ninja-like! Winner: Herbie!

Sedation: I touched on this briefly, but wish to elaborate. Anyone with sudden Nausea or Vertigo attacks... or any other ailment that comes on quickly and hits like a ton of bricks, you know how valuable it is to be able to reach your desired medicated levels as quickly as possible. I created to DDave Mod so my other vaporizer could come closer to the fast medicating speed I needed in order to reach desired elevation levels before my ailment made that not possible. It came close. Closer than stock anyhow. Herbie outdoes this mod, then runs circles around it! When I feel a major episode of vertigo coming on, or worse, awaken to find I'm half way there already.... well, I have very little time before I'm on my back and not in a good way! Now, enter Herbie. Yep, this unit is an Extraction Beast! Sedation effects occur mostly at the high temp ranges with MMJ. Herbie's there in seconds. Then, with bowl loaded, rip as hard - as fast as you want... Herbie keeps up. Heat doesn't waver, doesn't falter. So much vapor gets produced, it's almost dab-like... And sedation can occur before the Nausea monster takes hold... this is really what it's all about for me!

So I hope with this review, to have provided a baseline that we are familiar with (the DDave Mod), then have shown how it was simply out performed in every way by a stock model Herbie.

Long Live FC! And Long Live Herbalizer!

Big thanks to Josh and Team for raising the bar with this incredible unit!

PS. Oh.... and the most important part.... Ultimate Winner: US! (for having the option of such an awesome device).

Does anyone know if the inner pronged part of the bag seal is Iso safe? I have been replacing the stock bags for vape world bags, and the pronged part builds up a ton of residue.

I've changed several bags using ISO to clean all the plastic parts with no issues. I replaced the orange ring every time since I have a roll of that material.

Another top tip I had to circle back and confirm, Switching Screens!

Read in previous postings that switching screens worked well to clean the top one when it was clogged. Tried this today, after I took a draw and had thick milkshake flashbacks, and I'll be dipped... after two draws the air-path opened up and we were back in business!

Of course, while disassembled gave the bowl the quick brush out and between the two operations, we're back to running like brand new! (This is as close to self-cleaning as it's gonna get!)

I've been doing this myself for quite a while now, I've find that if I do it about once a week with a quick dusting between bowls both screens never get a chance to build up.

I've only given the bowl a really good cleaning once and thats with daily use since Jan. I don't allow the reclaim to build up in the top area as I find its usable, but nasty. When I swap the screens on the weekend I just give it a quick wipe with a qtip from the inside.

edit: typo correction (Herbie's fault!!)

I think you don't understand what I said. By "crappy product", I meant the vapor. I know it works better than most vapes but to think the vapor that it puts out tastes as good as glass only vapor is ridiculous. And yes, I have used it many times. It works amazing but the bag and plastic tube is a deal breaker for me. I just don't care for that taste. Thanks for the incredibly nice words though! <- that was a lot of sarcasm if you can't tell.

lol, better than most?

which other vape out there is technically better than this one? i'm honestly curious.

obviously i'm not talking about taste. i get what you're saying but you're going about it all wrong.

if you're going to spend over $700 on a vape and your only problem with it is the taste, it shouldn't be difficult to cough up $50-200 to get a custom glass piece made up for it. that's what i plan to do.

____________

what's the best option to buy one of these units?

seems like vapornation gives you the best bang for your back since they give you 10% in "reward" points. nothing on there really interests me but i suppose i could always get some extra accessories.

i was hoping they'd be selling them for a touch cheaper at the SF cup but they're selling them at retail.

In fact this is my plan too however vaping is something that is very personal. Everyone's needs and preferences are different.

I like the evo but I like the herbie I want the herbie but I want the glass on glass so I'll buy a hydra tube. I don't like that I have to stand over the unit to use it but I'll take the trade off.

My point is there is no right or wrong way to vape. It only about the most pleasant and enjoyable user experience possible.
