@sdrsh is it possible that you haven't screwed on the glass dome tight?
if your avb is brown (as it should) this must be vapor from your herbs, so it can't be what lemon curry? says, too.
the question is where does it go, when you can't suck it in.
maybe something is stuck in the airpath?! can you please blow in slightly (the little holes next to the lamp) and see if it comes through the whip.

don't worry I'm sure we'll get it to work

thanks for your support!

@Lemon Curry?
Maybe this could be the reason for the bad taste I reported, although that's mostly due to the new silicone tubing which has to be "worked-in" first I assume.

I am positive regarding the heating of the herb and subsequently the production of vapor from the herb.

Especially when pushing the boost button, there are distinct vapor trails coming from the chamber, which has been filled with different densities to check for different results.

Also as I mentioned before the AVB was definitely spent!

@mrweed

hmmm this makes me scratch my head but I am pretty sure that I screwed it on at least a little. Can't imagine that I just put it on the top but you never know..

I guess I'd be rewarded a Medal of Stupidity if that was the case but I'd be happy with the vapor at least haha:science:

will report on this later

I also checked the vapor-path by unscrewing the steel plate in the center. looks clean and open.

The way Ville told me to check the air path works as well: blowing through the tube results in air coming out of the opening in the center. I couldn't achieve to blow the other way, through the opening into the whip because I just couldn't focus my air stream through it..

While writing this a guilty grin keeps pulling on the sides of my face because of the potential that I didn't screw on the top glass...

Or maybe I am just expecting a really different kind of vapor, perhaps warmer and denser?

I like the PAX on red: tasty, milky vapor on the inhale and great clouds on the exhale, at least for about 6-7 hits.

Is this the kind of result I should aim for or is this convection-based unit suited for a different sensation?

will be back with results of the next session

I'll join the Venusians! Can't wait!

My Pax (a fake crappy one!) is dead today so I have a good reason to spent money!

Do you think customs glass tops could be a nice idea? different forms and size, smaller for water filtration and bigger for dry use....mixed colors...

ps: Hi Grange Goreman, you inspired me, where are you?

hello again,

still trying to make this thing taste like a vaporizer and produce vapor on exhalation.

after letting it heat up for 2min 20sec at about 50-70% of the turning know I pushed the boost for a couple of seconds and the glass bowl filled with vapor. the glass dome was screwed on tightly and the herb chamber sitting on the heating element (which wiggles a little bit - normal?)

There's a cognitive dissonance building up in my head :
I'm either not appreciating the qualities this vape has got to offer or it just isn't working, but I can't find anything wrong with it!

It produces some sort of barely visible clouds, not at all what I am used to from the pax. I think not even on green. ( and I have tried to basically "burn" the herb on max-level but still not satisfied )
it's a really low density kind of cold vapor, not what I am after.

It doesn't taste at all like what I am used to. But if I open the dome and smell the herb chamber it smells the same as if I open the pax's herb chamber mid-session. I am pretty sure the vaporization process is working properly but can't be too sure I guess.

Is there something written in the user manual that I could have missed since it was missing from my package?
(Villekille2 already got in touch with me after reading my posts on here and will provide me with a copy of it as soon as he gets back into office - really looking out for his customers and eager to fix any complaints:clap:)

I'm so sorry to hear, that you still have these problems.
now, I start to think that there might be a problem with the lamp (or with the scale)! "barely visible vapor" is definitely not what I have and the Pax is the last thing, I would have compared my Venus to, since I don't like it taste-wise.

I don't think you will find anything in the manual that will solve this problem btw.
Ville has no idea, what might be the problem?
At this point, I'm stumped, unfortunately.

Ville has been sending me emails with suggestions to fix the problem, for instance how to get the tube in all the way and proper instructions on how to use the unit right.
Haven't been able to achieve good results so far.

I opened up the unit and took some pictures so we might find the culprit who's stealing my vapor! (loads of it, too!)

wl6Nwls.jpg

As for the tubing connection, it is definitely working from one's mouth until the whole on the inside with the mesh cover. When I opened it, as I shown below, I put my finger on the hole and blew into the tube, which resulted in no air going anywhere.

Rdyh0gQ.jpg

I've scanned for a leak between the glass and the steel bottom, but nothing visible to my eyes.

When I blew into the tube while there was vapor inside the dome it visible pushed out around the perimeter of the dome. Maybe not tight enough?

Or could it be that something is wrong with the "fixture", or lack there of of the halogen bulb and its steel cover?

CjB0l58.jpg

I went back and looked at the images posted in this thread and couldn't make out any telling discrepancies.
The fixture, which covers the bulb, is loose and I am not sure if the rim around the middle of it should be on top of the steel bottom or below. On the other pictures of the thread the rim seems to be below, acting as a fixture to prevent the cover to fall off.

Couldn't it be that I'm basically sucking in air which comes directly form the back opening next the the charger-inlet and the vapor is just making swirls inside the dome until it condenses to the glass?

There is already visible discoloration on the inside, which is another hint for vapor actually being produced.

TERMITES?

that the bulb socket wiggles is normal. mine does that, too

Hello sdrsh

I see 2 things :

First, it looks like the metal tube with the circlip should be on top of the ss plate.

Also, I think but not 100% sure that the square screen where the vapor exit should not be sitting exactly on top of the wood, but instead it should be installed in a recess hole just the thickness of the screen.

Here is what I think is happening.

From my understanding, and if everything is normal, when you're pulling vapor, the hot air should come from the inside of the ss tube which is over the bulb, then through the herb bowl and then exit through the whip.

In your case since the ss tube with circlip is below the ss plate I think air could also be pulled from around or the the exterior of the ss tube (if the clearance around it is too large) which would dilute greatly the vapor density.
This could be easily cheched out.

Another cause which I think could reduce vapor density is the square screen. Since it is not in a recess hole and because it is sitting directly on the wood, it may lift the ss plate just a bit and allow a passage for some hot air coming from beneath to bypass the ss tube.
If this is the case, you could test it by just removing the square screen reassemble everything and try it out.

Good luck!

Is it just the pictures ? the bowl looks a lot closer to the wooden base on sdrsh's VV to me.
Only have seen pictures of this though so I really know next to nothing about it.

okay, I got mine today. I'm having the same problem with the vapor being very thin. The tube is a little long so I plan on cutting it down. I put 2 pinches in and it came out perfectly vaped but nothing on the exhale... So I am playing around still.

Edit: I added a little more herb and pressed it down some. Worked way better! Awesome vapor high atm. Still playing until I can be confident to make a review just yet.

You make me worry guys, I ordered one yesterday cause all the previous reviews told us this vape hit like a truck....I'll can see myself in a few days!

How many days can I expect to wait before to test my Venus (I'm in EU)?

I figured out the jar is not sealing, so what is happening is fresh air is being pulled from under the jar. So I need to make a gasket of sorts. T.B.C.

Edit: Put painters tape along the threads of the jar and it is hitting way better now.

I put in some Sativa dom. and I feel like I am on Ephedra and pot. whoa! Now to try some different strains and go mobile from the power, then through some different water tools.

Also now when you hit it you can see the air coming from the bowl.

I'll get a picture up in a few. :peace:

honestly, I don't know what's going on and I feel a bit guilty... these are not the reactions I would have expected to follow mine.
my venus still performs like i've described it and i love it and have total faith in it.
i think most of you guys know that I'm very picky, normally

I'm very sad to hear that meduser also needed modifications to get it to work

i hope you guys get things sorted out. I'm out of ideas, right now

edit: @sdrsh found this old video http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/venus-vaporizer.3088/page-3#post-312937 this is exactly how mine performs. can you confirm that you don't have vapor production like this?

Hi all. I am very sorry to hear about this problem. And I have been trying to understand the reason and the photos i saw here gave me an idea and it turned out that i found at least one possible reason.

There should not be need for any extra sealant between the vaporizer and glass dome. But it seems that I have failed to explain to my assembly assistants why it is very important that the small metal screen under the top plate sits correctly in a recessed hole so that the top of the vaporizeris completely smooth for the ss top panel. He confirmed to me that he has started to just place it on top of the unit and now the ss top plate just holds it down. But because of this the top plate wont be completely straight and the this small difference in its height might make air to leak either between the glass and metal panel on top or under the metal panel and both these situations would lead to reduced vapor production and the user would just inhale fresh air.

The simplest way to test if this is the reason is just to remove the small mesh screen under the ss top panel and if this fixes it then using regular scissors the mesh can be cut to correct shape to get it to its correct position and the fix screws again. The screw head is standard phillips ph1 size.

I am very sorry about this and as I cannot assemble all by myself anymore I had no idea that that such a change had happened and I also understand why my assembly assistant had thought that it doesnt matter. Because the connection between the ss top plate and the unit and silicone tube can be tested with holding a finger on top of the vapor hole and blowing to the tube, it may seem that this doesn't have any effect if the metal screen is installed just under the panel without careful fitting but the problem might then be that the glass dome doesnt seal correctly if the ss top plate is even a little bit higher from other side as metal and glass are both hard materials and need to be perfectly straight to get a good seal. And it has been working perfectly always and now is the first time i hear about this problem and also about this change in the assembly of some of our units which might explain it. At least we will now correct this and i advise those who havethis problem to try without the mesh and if this will fix the vapor production problem. And of course we offer replacements for our customers who cannot get satisfactory results because such a feeling should not be experienced with Venus Vaporizer

I try hard to understand what is causing this problem. I have always felt that the vapor production is very strong and now i am thinking if there has been any changes in our compoments to make it perform worse than it should. The above mentioned possibility of having bad seal between the glass and top panel is one option and clearly something different in our assembly process which we will now address. And if it's not this then the other change that might cause it is the connection between the heating element and herb bowl. It is now more loose than it used to be because a couple of customers complained that sometimes the sticky resins would make them stuck and difficult to remove so we started to make them more loose so that even if you never clean your parts they would not get stuck. And now if the metal screens on the heating element and herb bowl are not placed correctly they might touch each other and prevent the bowl to sit completely straight on top of the heating element. Maybe this can cause also some of the hot air to leak without passing trough the herb. Making sure that the screens dont touch each other and reshaping them if nefessary would probably fix this issue if that is the reason. When parts were of tighter fit it didnt matter because the mechanical pressure would force them to be correctly aligned even with less than perfectly shaped screens but now with more loose fit it is less forgiving. And since we have cut them just by hand it is natural that screens have some differences and this I have already addressed by getting a CNC controlled machine to cut perfect screens but it will take about 2 more weeks to get them into production. but anyway this is nothing one could not fix easily at home, just inspect and see if screens contact each other and make necessary adjustments.

Actually if the vacuum pressure inside vaporizer works as it is supposed to do, you should be able to get the herb bowl cap to fly off and herbs flying out too if you just inhale very strongly as the strong upward force the herbs would cause to the cap. One customer told me that it is because the air path has such a good flow and after installing a mouth piece to the end of silicone tube he was not anymore able to get the cap off by inhaling very strongly. So while i would not say that there is something wrong if you cannot do this but it should give a hint about the way it works. And if it is correctly warmed up and boosting and you would inhale, the vapor production really should be second to none and very solid.

Thank you @villekille2 Just some minor glitches.

So I believe my knob was on 1/2(wherever that click is) and combusted. So I am thinking that I am not hitting it fast enough. So either I should turn it down or bump it off between hits. This vap is so easy to use. Still playing around with it.

Thanks everyone for chiming in and trying to help.

I would like to state here that I am in no way frustrated with the VV or the company/manufacturer behind it.

I'd rather have someone do their thing, keep it local and stand behind it for the positive and negative feedback than some kind of hit & run company with offices in countries I don't even know (exaggeration) and nonexistent customer support.

from a recent exchange with a seller from low-end vape (paraphrased but not exaggerated):

"yes dear, black and green were out of order, so we sent you purple one. it looks great too hope you likey!1!1 want to special price for new order of black one?"

Noooooooooooo! Bad business. Would have ordered more if they were honest.

Back on topic:

Taking out the square mesh over the hole didn’t change much, maybe 10% better airflow.

I read about the sealing not being tight around the glass dome, so I put some tape around the part where it screws in (as described by meduser#420) and had about a 50% increase of vapor.

For the first time I could see the air going through the herb chamber from below and then passing down on the glass, more or less into the hole and into the tube.

The result is still far away from what I am used to from the pax, so I conclude that it is still not working properly.

At least we narrowed down the reason: Air leakage. Probably around the glass dome or around the heating element.

Another point to note: After making the sealing around the glass a littler better I blew into the tube again the see where the vapor would go. Part of it came outside the hole next to the charger inlet.

Now, at this point I don't feel comfortable with modding the unit by myself. Obviously something is off the norm. Might be from shipping, might be a rookie-mistake of the assistant manufacturer or it might be technical malfunction of some components. $hit happen$.

I'll be in touch with Ville to sort things out.

Again thanks to everyone involved.

@PPN I don't think you have anything to worry about if your unit is assembled correctly and not malfunctioning.

@Squonk regarding the circlip: I was thinking the same, that it should be on top of the ss to give it more of a sealing than if it is below, but I think that it is meant to be below the ss to prevent the cover from falling off the bulb and into the glass dome (when turned upside down for example).

@RUDE BOY The herb chamber isn't actually present in the pictures I uploaded, that's the cover of the light bulb, which is mounted by the herb chamber. They look similar.

Hi, how many mm is the silicone tubing provided with the unit?

Which way are they using for shipping?

Thanks

Okay so I have combusted now the last three times? I am not packing the bowl but I am filling it. Knob is below 50% now, probably more at 35%. Is it running hotter than usual?

I'm also willing to work this out, it is a nice looking unit. When I had it work the one time, it was a perfectly vaped bowl and I FELT my meds better than the vriptech. So let's get this thing perfected. One love.

@PPN came in the regular mail to me.

Well my unit has failed... I had to put the knob on close to 20% and boost hit it. I used it this morning and it shut off and went to the red light. Now after lunch it doesn't turn on at all! Needless to say I am bummed now. I mailed em and now waiting to hear back. :peace:

edit: Their on the case! Awesome! To be continued...
