Arizer Solo

The cracks have been occurring on the bottom of the unit by the screws. A crack will appear and since it's so close to the edge the crack will eventually chip off. The newer model that I sent back had cracks and chipping but it didn't interfear the the functionality of the vaporizer. It was a problem, one crack I noticed right after I received my unit, then another crack started. I think it would be a hassle to try to fix it yourself, I personally wouldn't want to mess with it. I know all you McGyvors love to tinker with things like that.

Eventually it can be a major problem if all 4 screws were to do that. The newer model replacement has no cracks, I keep checking.

does anyone know where i can get a stealth adapter for the solo? i'm wanting to try slipping a 3" piece of silicon on there and using that as a mouthpiece, remniscent of the UD vape. i just ordered a solo but i feel like the glass mouthpieces ruin the stealth and portability factors. i'm trying to decide between a bog oak shorty tnt stem and a PVHES stealth adapter, but the adapters are always out of stock :(

When posting my above reply I was thinking of you! I really feel like it was a rare flaw. I mean cracks unfortunately seem common, but actually chipping off seems rare (going by this thread and the four other solo users I personally know)

I would definitely go with a PVHE GonG or ed's tnt WonG vs a stealth adapter, will be more useful if you ever decide to try water pipes out. You would just need a female 14mm or 18mm end to connect your tubing

There should be some pictures in this thread, OF posted a solution (using different screws at the bottom then covering it with felt like material). Its an annoying problem and personally I think arizer should change the plastic. But it has 0 effect on function. From what I have heard most just develop a small crack near the screws and thats it; what happened to mine.

In few rare cases it gets worse

EDIT: @MGG there are some solo's posted in the classifieds right now with pictures of the area that we are talking about
O'ring OLD SOLO still works!

All these stories of cracks are making me anxious, can someone put up a picture of the cracks on their unit so I know what to look out for? thanks guys.

My Solo is always kept in case when not in use and was never dropped.
The cracks appeared and chipped off before I started using the "O" ring.
The unit works perfectly otherwise.
I remember seeing a member replace the factory countersunk screws with the same size machine screws and washers before the cracking started. Seemed to be a good solution to the problem.
Wish I had done that!!!

These little bubbler ash collector sets plow through these flowers.

I keep using the SOLO since I don't need a cord and their so easy to operate!

Hope your enjoying your SOLO as well!

Also I know this has probably been asked before but what exactly is the difference between the straight stem and the bent stem? Thanks.

I see one Solo for sale in the classified section of FC. I don't see very many older model Solos for sale. The older model just keeps going and people are happy with them so you don't see very many for sale. I hope we will be able to say that with the newer models in a couple of years.

As to the Q Man bringing up dankocity as a factor, I think that's a big mistake. I mean just how many of us have our own Dankyometer? And how many of them are properly calibrated? Speculation......

I never saw an answer and am really curious how many people own more than one Solo. :)
After a week of usage, I knew I needed a second. I wanted to completely fill and empty my batteries everytime and always have a solo ready to go. + its a backup in case of problems. At 1 point, I needed both my solos if I ever had to go out for the day because my batteries were giving too few sessions.

But I think a backup vape is essential regardless.

About 30 degrees. The bent one is nearly 2 inches 'wide', the straight one a bit over 1/2 inch.

The bent one eventually 'spins around' the straight obviously doesn't.

Guilty, but that's no secret. I had two (one as backup/loaner) but ended up buying another new version one from PIU to play with. Two makes sense for many IMO, 3 is overkill?

@ataxian has 3. But he's ...... well......... He's Ataxian!

Excellent point. Nobody wants to be like Ataxian, and be pointed at and referred to in hushed tones by concerned mothers in public places and all. That 'irresistible to women of all ages' thing sounds interesting though, don't you think?

What would give the biggest bang for buck using the same amount of product out of the solo, ascent and pinnacle pro?

IMO Solo (although my Pinnacle experience is with the plane version). VM and stem vapes probably beat that but take more actions to do so? I think the taste is better, too, but that's mighty subjective. I returned Nigel's Ascent and never bought one of my own, never wanted to 'upgrade' my Pinnacle, but bought a second Solo without hesitation.

Thanks for the replies guys. :)

Yeah, I saw that and seriously considered getting it.

hey soloists, what's the best/easiest way to clean a wooden stem such as an ed's granadillo?

i've given mine about 3 weeks of heavy use since getting it and i'm starting to taste the difference!

esoh, Why don't you ask on Eds TnT thread on FC? He is more than happy to answer any questions and comments about his wood pieces. At this point I use a pipe cleaner on mine. I doubt if it would be OK to use ISO, I would imagine that would be too harsh. You could also PM Ed or phone him, his number is on his website.

I'm sure I heard somewhere about it, but I can't remember. I will be interested as to what you find out.

Edit: Thats good to know ISO is OK.

I asked Ed about cleaning my Solo stem, and he sent me this:

Cleaning Ed's Solo stems:

Cleaning Solo stems - First off as far as cleaning you would never ever
submerge the stem in any liquid at all! To clean the inside of the stem I
would get a cotton swab, soak it ISO alcohol and squeeze out the excess,
then swab out the inside of the stem from the mouthpiece end. You will have
a clip installed just over the screen in the bushing. You will need something
narrow and pointed to remove it.

There is a tiny hole in either end of the
clip that you can poke some sort of tool into and lift up the clip. Once the
clip has been removed you can use the same tool to lift out the screen.
The actual tool for removing this clip is called an internal retaining clip
pliers. These can be purchased relatively cheap from amazon or ebay. I do not
use one.

I use a round wooden dowel just the size of the ID of the bushing to
push the screen in and then seat the clip. I know its kinda crude but I use
the narrow pointed end of my metal compass I have for making circles with a
pencil like in school, I stick the pointed end of it into the hole at the end
of the clip and pry it out. I have wanted to find some sort of metal poker or
tool to offer.

The stem for removing the clip and 1/2" screen(these can be purchased
anywhere), I just havent seen anything that fit the bill. Once the inside has
been swabbed out and the screen replaced I would let it sit and dry completely.
Once its dry you should be good to go. I have had customers that vape the
cotton off the swab, they let it dry all the way and put it in the bowl of
the stem, it is full of vape honey.

Glass Clean weekly for the pure taste.
I heat wax and drip it down the wood passage to make it taste acceptable!
The more resin build up the better!
Why remove all that hard work?
