what are the specs of the charger ?
9 volts DC, 1 Amp

I wish the connector on the Vapormax was MicroUSB.

When you get the unit, take out the mouthpiece and do a burnoff on the unit while you clean the mouthpiece. (Always do a burnoff on any new vape) then throw it on the charger as you take care of the mouthpiece.
Take the silicone mouthpiece out of the metal piece.
It pulls right out. Take the ceramic screen out of the mouthpiece and throw it away (just adds restriction) soak the mouthpiece in ISO, then in coconut milk (works best IMO) or dawn. clean thoroughly, put mouthpiece back on metal piece. You're good to go with no silicone taste.

Soaking the mouth piece in ISO alcohol and than cleaning it with Dawn soap worked great. I had my first session last night and was very pleased with the results.

After the unit heated up, I took 4 draws with a small pause between each one.

btw - It took less than an hour for the new device to fully charge (LED changed from red to green).

I don't really have any ISO alcohol or Dawn Soap at home, would soaking it in hot water do the trick? and will regular milk work or just coconut milk?

The reason Dr. Vape recommended ISO, followed by coconut milk is the ISO helps to express the oils from the silicon (as a solvent). The coconut milk which is high in fats/lipids acts as great natural emulsifier by breaking down and removing those expressed silicon oils (without introducing smells or chemicals of its own).

The good Doctor can correct me if I'm wrong... ;)

So got it did come today, but in gold instead of green like I ordered (ofcourse, the ugliest color is the one that gets mistakenly given, seriously would've taken any other color). But I charged it up and boiled the mouthpiece in water for a good while (don't have ISO). Doing some burn off runs and there is a faint silicone plasticly fumey whatever smell, similar to the Solo when you run its initial burn off, but it still has it after 4 or 5 sessions now. Normal?

Edit: loaded a bowl a little later after using some soap on the mouthpiece and rinsing it. Not terrible tasting, but maybe it will improve? I may still be a little concerned health wise, guess we'll just have to keep hoping for a materials list...

Any way it hit well, it was a medium load and I hit it hard and quick, very dark AVB though, everyone else seemed to be getting light brown though due to the low temp? Could mine be set higher or something? I'll have to try a few more before I pass this along.

Edit: yeah tried tasting it too now with the mouthpiece and nothing loaded, but it tastes terrible. Used a little dishsoap on the mouthpiece and rinsed with hot water. Still bad, and i think its not just the mouthpiece tho, but the unit so feeling a little worried?
Hey bud -

To me, it sounds like your mouth piece is fresh - meaning it was recently just molded. On its own, with no help from a solvent, it will express silicon oils like crazy at first and since it was likely sealed up not too long after that, the rest of the unit will have some residual smell to it. I would definately get some ISO, followed by a good long soak in some coconut milk (go grab a can at the store, its cheap). Then wash it in soap and water. In the meantime, continue with some more burn-offs until any residual smell is gone - maybe wipe down some of the pathway with a Q-tip? Let us know - still waiting on mine to arrive!

Good luck!

I thought Vapes.com was looney at $119. check em now - its a hoot!

Yeah I guess I really do need the ISO right? I just bought an LSV from another member so I need to clean out my old bong for when that arrives anyhow. I'll keep running burn offs as well. The taste was getting to me after a couple more fuller packed bowls, the clouds were impressive but it was just getting gross

Disagree. The VM is better than some $250 vapes I've purchased. I think we may have lost a bit of perspective here.
Don't get me wrong Adobewan. I like the Flowermate a lot. But I like it for what it is. At $150 if you compared it with a Solo I think it is way out of its league. The lack of different temps is a major drawback imo. Perhaps calling it a piece of shit is too strong though. I feel it is quite similar to one well known $250 vape (Pax). I think Pax is better on the highest setting but I do prefer the Vapormax in terms of usability. Also the fact that it is cheap allows me to treat it appropriately. I throw it in my bag. I don't care a lot if it gets scratched. Best of all is the cleaning. All you need to do is give the chamber and mouthpiece an occasional clean and you are good to go. Honestly though I feel this product outperforms a lot of better known products as well. However, I tend to believe they are overpriced rather than this one being underpriced. Anyway just my opinion for what its worth.

So I've just taken the first step away from combustion and bought one of the FlowerMate Vapormax's as my first vaporizer! Figured it'd be a nice way to test the waters with vaping before spending a little more money on something like a solo.

First of all, a big thanks to Vape-Dr, Gwelio, Vape-Air and everyone else who reviewed it/commented on helping me make my mind up.

Also, thanks for the contact, ordered of Flower (at Vnice) for $75 shipped to the UK.

I just have a a couple of questions that I could do with answering though if possible!

Is there anyway I could I attach the unit to my bong? (14.5m hole). I'm guessing I'd need some sort of whip/adapter?

How do I turn the unit off mid-session? (i.e. before the 10 minute time out), thinking of conserving the herb.

Best drawing techniques? Are long, slow draws the best?

Has anybody found out if you can use class stems for the unit at all yet?

Can't wait till it arrives!

Welcome to the Jungle @AP-Vape . Hope your wallet is ready!

You can insert the mouthpiece directly into a 14mm joint but you have to have enough clearance below (or above) the joint to except the extra length of the mouthpiece because it doesn't seal until the base. (can't use it on a pinnacle hydro-tube for example because the mouthpiece tip hits the glass above the joint before seating properly. See video in this post for tip insertion demonstration (skip to 35 seconds)) As soon as I find a place to buy extra mouthpieces I am going to cut one down to make it a lot easier.

Turning off unit mid session: hold button for 5 seconds to turn off heating (leaves the light on in the chamber) or press button 5 times to turn unit completely off.

Drawing: I have found that you don't have to go to slow with this one. A good steady medium speed draw works the best for me.

Glass stems: Used an 18-14mm reducer adapter that I have that wasn't "finished" properly (end of joint not cut off) with a high temp o-ring and it worked great but just not stable.

I predict that someone soon will get something off another vaporizer to work great as a glass mouthpiece, but I don't have that many vapes (Only 4!) to try stuff out with.

Anyway, good luck in your quest in fucking combustion. You better think about picking up a 2nd (or 3rd) job! :o

Oh and what ever you do don't press THIS!!!!

No you don't. This device has two 2600 mAh batteries. Charging through USB would take forever.

All my USB chargers put out 2 amps which could produce enough power to charge the batteries in a reasonable amount of time.

The wall charger that comes with the VM is 9V at 1 amp (9 watts). My USB charges are 5V at 2A (10 watts).

Being a Vape newbie, I have some questions on usage. How many medium draws can I expect off of a full loosely packed bowl? How do you know when a bowl is spent/finished?

As it is temperature controlled and you have a single setting, the bowl will be spent when there is no vapor anymore (or if you feel it's too wispy to be enjoyable) You can try to stir/repack to grab a few extra hits sometimes, but there's no warranty! :)

Has anyone tried some glass flowers/glass screens to help with heat dissipation when using smaller loads?

Folks with Ascents which has a similar design seem to really recommend them.

The bowl is so much smaller (and as a result more efficient) than the Ascents (and it's shape is better for conduction) so its not really necessary. Small loads normal, a bigger load can be packed in

150$ price tag on this unit is pretty overpriced.... No warranty and might break in a month of use.... someone's already complaining about sliding door after a week.

$50 for the Unit
$25 for DHL shipping
$3 for paypal charges
$25 custom import fees

$103 total

now if you put it to 80$ price tag

$80 for the unit
$25 for DHL
$3 for paypal
$30 custom import fees or more

$138

compare it to arizer solo which you can get for 160$ and also get $15 4 piece grinder.

Arizer Solo:

Temperature control
Warranty

Flowermate Vapor Max

Affordable

your paying 60$ for Warranty and Temperature Control..... :2c:

Please Stop jacking the price of this already.... and if your comparing it to PAX well PAX is overpriced.

GRASSHOPPER for 99$ compare it to FLOWERMATE..... that speaks for itself

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right

Curious as to where you saw the Grasshopper for sale and at $99. Wasn't aware they were in existence yet.

Advertised as 99$ its not out yet.

I'd love it if they stayed that price when preorders open and i can finally get close to getting one? But I'm expecting a $50 hike at least based on the hoped for quality. $99 was a great price and what allowed them to become a company, but it was as a gift for backers of the company. I think it's very realistic to expect a higher retail price unfortunately (wish I had known about it back in December! Was a month late to that party...)

Some online vendors will price match the $130 tag from other places (ebay I think?), and they're within the US so if anything happens you can try working it out with the vendor first before shipping it to Arizer in Canada. I know Puff It Up has been very good about replacing their faulty Solos. For $150 I'd like to have some sort of functional warranty from a place I can trust. Not much is known about the warranty procedure for this product yet so we're left in the dark. At that price point I feel that the Solo is currently a "safer" purchase.

Temperature control is fantastic, no arguing that. The "issue" with the Solo is you need to use stems, and it comes with glass stems (which will likely break). Wooden stems are more durable and much more aesthetically pleasing IMO but it's not a contained unit in the same sense that the FM is. With the Solo you pack the stem and insert, let it heat up and then use it, but in the end you have a hot stem. With the FM you just put the material into the oven and it reaches temperature and you draw on it, no need to avoid burning yourself trying to load another stem.

I'd really like to know what the materials in the FM airpath are, though... perhaps one day?

I'm curious about those that own both this and the Solo: how noticeable is the difference between getting to choose your temperature vs. a set temperature? Any differences in effects with the same strain?

I haven't gotten to do much testing, but it does feel like the temp is indeed around 390F, its hits pretty hard especially with full packed bowl being a conduction vape its getting a lot out of the material at once, particularly based on the shape/size of the bowl (kind of like a T-Vape in that way, though the T-Vape hits harder I'm sure with its 420 max temp). Compared to the Solo at 4 or 5 then, it probably hits you with a headrush a little quicker bc of its conduction, but its taste is nowhere near it. And its kinda nice to be able to sip on the Solo for a while, but it seems like the VV can get you there quicker at comparable temps (which is tricky bc its in between Solo 4 and 5 I feel like).

It is a nice simple conduction vape with a ridiculous battery life (its also pretty sizeable in person, like double the Indica's size for double the battery life). But the Indica really blows it a way with vapor quality and taste, plus its looks and variable temps. I was also surprised how warm the Vapormax gets in use, but on the plus side the excess smell seems pretty negligable so far which is pretty huge for a conduction session style vape.
