I want to give a little context. It was a crowded area of people walking in a city--I was also walking. This was much easier to be discreet about, as the mouthpiece is the only real visible thing in my hand. My friend didn't even know I used it (we were walking to get coffee).

Most people aren't going to know what it is I'm exhaling because I don't/didn't exhale big clouds, and I only took one or two small hits to knock out the anxiety I was getting. And at the time, teens headed our direction overpowered any hint of the PAX I was using with their obvious recent toke (she was convinced it came from a different direction and it was really strong. I've vaped with the PAX with her in a closed room, so... I'm taking her word for it. Not scientific, but eh). That's California for you.

Back to discretion--My PAX is barely visible in my hand, and it's black. The LED is not noticeable in sunlight. It looks like a portable battery charger or some other tech, which is barely thought about in the Bay Area. The Indica is shiny, and looks like a zippo. It's beautiful and it's premium functions and portability are several reasons why I'm interested in it, but I don't think I could draw off of my Indica in a crowd without some funny looks :) But, I could probably stand in a smoker's section with nary a glance if no one was explicitly watching me.

I wonder if some kind of a thin skin cover could be made. Something that could slip on the bottom and a separate for the top. Then you could choose your own color or design. Which could help when the need for more stealth is involved. Then when back home back to shiny and awesome.

In that context I'd say you could be fine, I've used it walking past people in the suburbs often and pretty easily, tried it in the city only few times. It can't be fisted like the pax ofcourse, but it is small enough open that most any hand should be able to hide it in the palm in some way (my hands aren't even that big). Its also kind of perfect holding it that way so you can put your thumb on the mouthole in between hits and pit your hand by your side.

I can understand being able to Palm it and conceal it mostly with your hand. But what about the massive door sticking out of the side? How do you hide that? I feel like this is more for being a great portable device, but not a great portable stealth device. Stealth only if it's closed and laying around then most would just think lighter. The pax does look like some kind of external battery, but who wants to clean their vape every other day, right? And personally the taste of the pax for me was horrible. Just seemed like the same general sweet plastic kind of flavor. I want the indica for flavor and for quick vapes. My other two options would be the firefly for instant hits or the mivape because of flavor and stealth.

Everybody's different, but I have no trouble hiding the lid in my sleeve, if I'm wearing short sleeves I just flip the vape around and extend my index fingers to hold/cover the lid. Maybe its my hand but its is 100% hidden when I look at the back of my hand like that. (Is mivape real yet?)

What is the deal with the massdrop sale, sorry I have never heard or seen anything from "massdrop". Are there a reason this batch is going for little less cash?

What are the couple of items that the company is planning on changing and/or working on and improving?

Massdrop is just getting a group together so they can buy something at a wholesale price. Improvements haven't been locked in yet, but most likely is replaceable battery for starters. Read through the thread a little to see what people have been suggesting. We'll find out in a few months

Haha yea it's certainly the phantom vaporizer. I saw a video of someone using one at champ's or it was cannabis cup not sure. I also feel like the updated model of the indica could take a while so it's either spend $269 for a firefly or grab an indica on massdrop if it makes the $150 mark. I will certainly do it if it hits $150.

Thats a fantastic deal for anyone as they will even deliver to uk for a reasonable 15usd. If i wasn't desperate for a replaceable battery (my tech always seems to lose battery within a year or two) I would have jumped at it, in all fairness I am still considering it as a 2 year vape at that price.

Once the drop is over they order from the manufacturer. Then they are shipped back to Massdrop who ships them out to the individual. I've had one get to me in 2 weeks, the longest was 6 weeks. I sort of mentally plan on a month unless they let us know otherwise.

I recently sold the Solo and am looking for a new vape to buy.

I was leaning towards the Pax but this Indica vape intrigues me. I still live with my parents so lack of smell while smoking in my room is important to me. I heard the Pax smells a lot more than the Solo. How does the Indica compare to the smell of the Solo?

Both the Indica and the Solo are constant-heat designs, meaning that the heater is on until you turn it off or it times out. This means that if the load is in the device, it will heat up and emit some vapour and hence odour. With the Solo, you can lift the stem out between hits and minimize the smell. You can't do that with the Indica, but it has a lid that you can flip shut between hits, thus no vapour escapes into the room. The Pax has neither of these options.

It does smell more than the Solo since it is a pure conduction vape. However, it smells very little for a conduction vape (my ascent really reeked up a room, this does not) and you can cover the mouthhole with your finger in between hits so no vapor escapes. Even with the lid closed you can smell a tiny bit (that's how I know when the warm up is compete, I turn it on and close it/set it on the table, then when I smell it I open it up and begin inhaling). When its turned off there is really no smell, and the previous smell dissipates rather quickly. It should be a solid replacement for your Solo (but I still rotate between the two when I'm at home)

This is my first post at FC, but I've been following this Indica thread for a while. I was originally going to purchase a Pax as my first vape awhile back until I stumbled upon the Indica on r/vaporents, where I got some excellent info/advice from @Shit Snacks and decided the Indica was the one for me. I'd been biding my time and waiting until I could consume again (been on a long t-break), but then this massdrop came along and it was too good to be true. I just joined the drop and can't wait to get my hands on this baby!

I also wanted to say thanks to everyone on this thread who has been answering people's questions and who contributed during the beta testing phases, perfecting the product that I will soon be using, and also to Mike at @Indica Vaporizer who I've heard almost as many good things about as the vape itself! :clap: Buying a great product is awesome, but buying a great product from a great company is even better.

Snug as you could want.
I tested this out in ice cold conditions.
When the unit was at the top heat, and the weather was freezing outside, the beta oven doors were a bit loose from cold contracting the material, while the heat expanded the units walls.
This was not bad... it proves to me that the spacer itself is a good insulator!
The production model doors fit exquisitely, and stayed snug in very cold conditions, with unit at the top.
