I like a cold stem in a hot vape for wonderful convection style vaporizing.

Cold stem in preheated solo, two-three Hits, remove stem for a few minutes, repeat of cold stem in preheated solo and again wonderful convection vaporizing. I do this until it's toast.

I lightly load a full bowl and have been using the shorty turbo PVHES mouthpiece lately, while inside. I use the Eds stem 3 inch Wong while outside or on the go. i let the stem heat up to level 3 and I take 4 or 5 draws, then I go to level 4 for a few minutes, then I finish off on level 5. A session is usually about 10 min or so. I take the stem out when I'm done so the load doesn't continue to cook.

Later I go back and start at 4 then quickly go to 5 and finish it off, after another 10 min. The second time around may not be as flavorful as the first. The Solo is very economical, not that expensive to use, very easy on the herb. The ABV is still good for edibles.

I got two different issues with my two solos. My first one is a M1D2 and it still works, Minus correct lights. When i start up the device the 1 and the 5 lights generally work. So if i have a full battery i see just the 1 and 5 lights. The battery indication goes away and i tap the up button 4 times for my desired temp setting. I wait til the 5 light comes on to let me know its at temp. Now mind you the whole time its 'heating' im seeing the red charge light up rather than the heating light. Some times (usually after a session or 2) the lights change pattern. Now i see the 1 and 3 light up if the lights are supposed to show 1-3 lights and 1, 3, 5, 7 if it is supposed to show 4 or more lights. (this is the same weather the lights are supposed to indicate the temp desired or actual, or indicating batter level. ASIDE from the light issues the device functions fine. Still heats up quick and produces large amounts of vapor for the full session before auto shutting off.

Now the second Solo i purchased mainly for the ability to use while plugged in and because i was tired of explaining how my solo worked fine but the lights were useless to others. I got it earlier this year and its a model M1E1 it worked like a champ. Seemed to heat up quicker and have better air flow. But just a week ago it konked out on me. Mid session it shut off on me. I turned it back on set my desired temp and it started to heat up. As it reaches my desired temp it goes all the way to 7 and shuts off. This happens every time.

Any one run into either issue?

TLDR: first solo works lights don't. Second solo worked, but stopped. Now auto shuts off after starting to heat.

Seven, Did you buy your Solos from a authorized seller? You would also need your receipt. If you do the Solo has a 3 year warranty. If I'm wrong someone please tell me.

It's sounds like the second Solo needs to be returned. What I hear there are some faulty batteries in some of the newer models. The first Solo maybe under warranty too, you may want to wait to send the older one back so you have a backup.

Buy your vapes from an authorized seller, or better yet buy from a vendor that supports FC. All the folks that I hear that buy from Puffitup have had wonderful customer service. Randy's the man. You don't have to pay for shipping if you have to send your unit back.

Welcome to FC SevenSlugs ,
Sorry to hear your having issues with your Solos .
But if it's not functioning properly , I would exercise your warranty

Your problems have been mentioned before , and with those batches . And iirc most members had no problems getting a replacement for their issues .

It sounds like you have the New versions ?
Use while charging ?

I actually contacted arizer right before i posted here. The second was a 'authorized seller' on ebay. I dont have the info on the first as it was a few years ago. Arizer has allready gotten back to me so hopefully the second is going to go back for the warranty. I've always passed along that arizer was really good with customer service when people asked about my solos but never got a chance to experience it first hand.

I had heard about the battery issues but from what i saw they didn't cause them to shut off automatically. In my own Diagnosis i thought the temp sensor was going haywire. But glad to hear that its a known issue.

The first one with the light issues still works fine for me and now that i got it back from my buddy (let him borrow it after i got the new one) its going to be my day to day. Maybe after i get the 2nd one taken care of i will see about getting it fixed.

@poonman The 1st one was an old version couldnt use while charging. 2nd one was New version. being able to use while charging was a big reason for picking it up.

After 18 months of daily use my vapir2 seems done, won't stop heating and burns everything. The thing worked great.

Just for the sake of trying something new I picked up a solo to replace it, what a nice unit, no learning curve, it just flat out works!! The first few pulls on 2-3 are so flavorful it makes my nose tingle....

Happy vaping!
My friend said the same thing. Big upgrade from his NO2

Quick question, when heating up, is it best to leave oven door on or off?

Like the other members said you can heat with the stem in. Personally though unless im on the go I heat with the cap on. I noticed heating with the stem in takes quite a bit longer to heat and theoretically you could be losing the low-heat terpenes (flavor).

I heat to 3 while I load up the stem

Sorry to say I have been having issues with my solo,
after almost a year of daily use my solo will no longer display a temperature above 3. Despite this, it heats up super hot and has been combusting the bottom of the bowl. have just under a month left in my warranty so hopefully I am able to get it taken care of

Do you only have a year warranty? I thought the Solo had a 3 year warranty. Did you buy it through an authorized vendor?

You are right, I just looked on the Arizer website. A 2 year manufacturers warranty and a 1 year warranty on the battery. I couldn't find my paperwork on mine, so I needed to look. So I was in error with my above post.

What do you guys like to use for aromatherapy/ other herbs? I was burning off some alcohol after cleaning and just threw in the potpourri bowl and the included wild flowers. smelled pretty nice. I also hear adding mint or lavender to a bowl of "dry herb" makes it taste really nice.

Loving my Solo/PVHEGonG and my Zephyr Bubbler. I got the 14mm PVHEGonG and have a 14-18mm reducer I can use the solo with just about any glass I have.

Cold stem in preheated solo, two-three Hits, remove stem for a few minutes, repeat of cold stem in preheated solo and again wonderful convection vaporizing. I do this until it's toast.
I tried this earlier and had a very enjoyable session. Lots of thick hits, I'm guessing the relative lack of conduction going on had something to do with it. Very tasty!

I decided to give it a try. :)

I was very impressed. Very big clouds and the taste was great! I may use this method from now on.

I tried adding some grated lime zest. Very tasty, and more mellow than I expected.

I hear that lime oil has some psychoactive effect. Like it counteracts some of the negative effects of THC. Not sure if that's true, but I was vaping Harlequin at the time anyway. Maybe I felt more relaxed, but hard to say.

Yes, mint is tasty with dry herb. It adds a cooling effect. I can hit harder without feeling like coughing. I guess they added menthol to cigarettes for the same reason.

Clove cigarettes are very popular in Asia, so I'd bet a little bit of clove would be a good addition. It has a numbing effect, so you could probably hit harder with clove mixed in as well.

Does anyone know if the o-rings provided by Planet Vape are working on the new Solos?

Two friends just purchased the new Solo and I sent them an o-ring each, but they are having issues installing them.

One of them can't get the top of the Solo back on, while the other one got the top back on, but the o-ring doesn't seem to be doing it's job- his stems/GonG are still very loose.

Yes, they fit/work the same. At least mine does. Same as before, you can't just bung one in willy nilly and expect good results. They must be fitted. My new one has a thick cap, so like all prior units with thick tops you cannot screw the cap on tight without causing problems with stem fit and breaking the tabs on the bottom. I think it's a safe assumption theirs are the same?
