Did you show him a picture of your persei/battery box after that? :o
He know's I'm a W9 TECH user of their wares. I think he was taking a jab at me!

I think my SHATTER is awesome.
He thinks his BLONDE HONEYCOMB is better.
It may be some kind of ALPHA Male thing?
He shows me the pics on his IPHONE so I show him my PERSEI pics!

Maybe it's jealousies?

PTFE coated tools should be here today. Review to come... now I need to get some concentrate, lol.

Edit - tools came, they look good. Waiting on meds now. Delivery FTW.

Disclaimer: I had to test these. In doing so, I obviously had to do the dabs I played with. I am currently writing this from the dark side of the Moon. OT: Contrary to popular belief, there is nothing interesting over here.

But I digress...

Yeaaaah buddy! This kit is win! Behold my Teflon coated paradise (work mat included, however scissors not so much... those also suck balls are are getting the heave-ho once I find a good non-stick option):

k1yz.jpg

The fit and finish (wait... can these have a "fit" if they are single pieces of metal?) of these tools are heads above the $9 "Amazon.com special" wax carving tools I was using previously. The edges actually have an edge (instead of being a 1-2 mm thick, flat, blunt "edge") and the points are actually pointy! ALso note that the tools, minus the tweezers, have octagonal shaped bodies. No rolling around anymore!

Amazing, right? I know... BFD. But wait, there's more!

The Teflon coating on these tools is pretty badass. It makes these units slick, both literally and figuratively. In order to test this, though, I ordered up some of the stickiest stuff I could think of. That, being Clear Concentrates... clear concentrate. This can be seen in the above picture.

...and here it is on the end of my tool (heh). Looks like molten glass :) :

Wiped cleanly off onto the bud for a nice GDP sammich (note awesome new tweezers are also Teflon coated!)

8fju.jpg

And the tool?

Only a barely visible (in direct sunlight) coating of residue remains!

Now if only that special case I ordered to house these gems in would get here. ;)

Mah case came! You have no idea how long it took me to find this thing. I literally spent days looking online for just the right case for my new tools, and that wasnt already prefilled with one thing or another. Anyway, it turns out the search was worth the wait!

My OCD approves very much.

ikkt.jpg

Mmmmm... red felt!

b1ta.jpg

And thank god the quality is top notch! The stitching and materials are very robust and this should last me forever. That was one thing I was concerned about when looking at such cases. Most seemed to be 99 cent Chinese throw away cases. While this was made in China (cut the tag off), it is for sure done with a purpose other than mass production/profit in mind.

Now all I need is a titanium dabber for the 6th slot and I think I'm done... or maybe some Teflon coated scissors?

Sigh...

edit: Speaking of OCD... Rolled those tweezers over 90*. Makes more sense that way.

i need to get some tools for cutting into hard shatter and soft waxes. I saw these for 8 bucks: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000SVRSRY/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_at_ws_us?ie=UTF8

I am concerned about buying something cheap that may leave harmful chemicals or residue behind from the cheapness. Is there anything to consider when buying these types of tools? I noticed some tools are like $20-$50 here: http://chiefcottonmouth.com/collections/all/CONCENTRATE-ESSENTIALS+DABBERS+TITANIUM

I think the more expensive ones are for heating up right? like for actual dabbing? I am only using these tools to cut and transfer the wax or shatter to my pens atomizer. Sometimes I hold a lighter to melt the concentrate off the tip but I never hold the tool in a flame...

what do you use?

Also I use the silicon containers and trays, hoping it can cut the shatter without damaging the silicon surface.

The first ones you linked are fine. I buy them up the block for like a quarter a piece. I mean they are made of metal so If your worried about anything on them just burn the end with your torch just to make sure.

thanks! i guess i will order the 8 dollar set, saves me money...i am pretty sure i paid 7.95 for just one of the same quality pieces from my head shop, getting all 12 will be way better.

is the reason other tools that look exactly the same cost $30.00-$50.00? my head shop also sell the same single tools for liek $50 bucks...they say they are for torching tho, is that a different wuality of metal? I think they were grade 2 titanium or something...

Here is the tool I use. Gotta be the same one from that first set lol

SQSHtTF.jpg

do you torch yours? or do you just use it as a middle man tool?

I need something that can cut in those same containers without cutting into the silicon...i dont want silicon flakes in my hits...

edit: I just found a comment saying that the set came with a warning label that said it contains lead and not to use orally. Did anybody's have this on the label?

I torch the fuck out of that thing l the time. All the way to red hot and I use it to scape inside my silicon container haven't had any bits yet. Just make sure it's not hot as fuck when you are scraping it from the inside of your container. I always cool it down a lot afterwards.

But your dabbing with it aren't you? I'm just trying to load my pen, i use shatter mostly and it is usually so hard that i need a sharper tool to cut it but a double end to place it on the coil...

I do have a awesome water piece that i thought about buying a domeless nail set up for but the thought of blowing a torch with my dog and cat around scares me...

The reason those other ones go for more is cause they are being sold for weed so therefore they can charge double for some reason. And mine didn't come with any kind of label like that. Just says made of stainless steel.
Also don't have a nail set up yet. But when I do I fully intend on using these tools for dabbing.

I was worried about buying cheap tools, like that first set where I found a few claims that they aren't stainless, and they might have lead in them...assuming I buy a cheap piece, and it has something bad in it like lead, will using it to cut sticky waxes transfer some of those harmful particles into my wax? You don't actually know whats coming in a cheap set like that.

@Caligula how are you liking your Teflon ones?

I found that the teflon wears off easily. Not too happy about that, even though it's limited to the very edges of the most used tools.

As for the cheap Amazon specials... all are made in Pakistan or India from what I've seen. No idea as to the type of QC those places have but if the finish on the tools is any indication, is non existing or very lacking. If you're concerned about metal purity, I'd spend more on stuff that's made in a 1st world country... or China at the very least.

Borosilicate dabber and those teflon tools. Honestly I never heat the teflon tools past room temp, so it's a non issue. You need to be much more picky with stuff you dab with. In that case I'd stick with American made titanium or glass.

do you think the teflon ended up in your material when it wore off? thats what im trying to avoid...

Had to go somewhere! Given how much teflon is used on our cooking shit I'm not too worried though.

Also it seems to have worn off when used for scraping hard objects like metal screens and what not... Not when I was simply handling concentrates. It doesn't come off THAT easily, heh. Still can't continue to recommend these tools though. The coating shouldn't come of at all.

Perhaps you just just invest in a quality double sided titanium dab tool? It's not like it'll wear out or break so it's a one time purchase unless you lose it.

I have one of these. I wanted it cause it has a hole in the end, you can put a piece of shatter or wax on the hole and it will drip through. Either that, or i'll use it like a cookie cutter and cut out little circles which will just stick in there.

They have one with a fork on the other end too, almost wish I got that one:

The fork seems like it would be similarly useful.

ordered one of these cup style dabbers off ebay today. pretty excited to try it, i feel like that design will be really nice, especially for being able to do a half hit and still have it saved.

I got a skillet tools stainless steel dab tool...is it safe to use stainless steel to dab with? What I mean is touching the stainless steel tool with wax to a quartz nail that is red hot. Does the steel give off any harmful stuff?

Yes Stainless Steel is perfectly safe. You should however be waiting until your Ti or Quartz nail has cooled off, so that it is not glowing red anymore.. You are scorching your goods with your current form.

i wait a few seconds for it to cool...back to the question:

Do stainless steel tools give off harmful gases or fumes when used as a dab tool? I thought skillet tools made grade 2 titanium but i found out it is stainless.

I suppose the tool itself is getting hot even if it isn't touching the quartz nail. Regardless if it is red hot or hot, is it giving of harmful substances?
