Not always a good thing. That's the reason you have a threaded cap on the sr74

I would probably prefer an SR71 style cap, but honestly, it is not a major issue to me at all either way

Damn that herc is thirsty! Loaded in .3-.4g of shatter and it all disappeared into the coil lol. Got some tasty clouds but I think it's back down to the buffer now, so will need to wait til I do my second run on these nugs tomorrow morning before I can hit the herc again! Back to my kiss carts

I have the omicron-lite and when I put a small load in to the KISS I end up with oil under the coil and the wick is all black..when the wick is black like this, does it mean that oil is in the wick? or is it just the burnt oil? I can keep hitting the cartridge when it is black like this and I still get clouds, as I hit it I get more a machine taste...Is this normal? or is when it is black like this does it mean I need to reload? How many htis do you get out of a grain of rice sized load?

how should I gauge when to stop hitting? I want to make sur eI don't burn out the coil and that I'm not inhaling harmful materials...

Looks like you need a deep clean due to overloading or impure material: use a toothpick to gently scrape any excess, old, burned oil out of the cup, soak that thing in ISO, gently use a toothpick to clean the coil, back in some fresh iso... When it's clean and white, take it out, let it dry overnight, and give it some quick button tap dry burns to get rid of anything left.

From there on out, try loading smaller amounts to prevent so much run-off. The bad taste comes from the overloaded oil being reheated continuously. If you only put as much on the coil as will vape in 1 hit, each hit will taste good.

Yeah I was just saying...anyway I don't think the top cap is really essential anyway. Except for maybe keeping the mouthpiece and screen clean. I get the same results with or without my top Cap on the sr71...

Please help with Leakage...

I have the Persei with SR-74 running 2x AWR IMR 18350. I love this combo since I get very good tasting clouds. The thing is, I can't get this thing to stop leaking to the bottom of the copper rod. I have looked through this post and have gathered things that work for me on getting good hits and less leakage. The hits parts is good for me but I just can't do anything about the leakage and it can get frustrating since wax is not the most pleasant material to handle.

This is my method:
I smashed on TI coil and semi smashed the second. My white rod was getting engulfed by the coils so I wanted to modify them to get the rod and coils even as possible. I soak the coils first by loading half the amount of wax then pulsing it while inhaling. I then load it to have the pool of wax covering the coils.

When I do a session, I hit the button without inhaling for 5 seconds. I wait 3 seconds then hit the button for 5 seconds while inhaling, let go of the button for 3 seconds while continuing to inhale, then hit the button for 5 seconds while inhaling, then let go of the button while inhaling for 10 seconds.

I let it cool for about 30 seconds more then store it on its side.

This has worked for me for a couple of days but it will still leak afterwards. And just today, I went to reload the pool and took a few hits...my copper piece on the bottom was waxed out again.

Not sure what I am doing wrong...does the way you hold it while hitting make a difference too? I usually hit it while it is at an angle.

I don't know, I really like this thing for the taste and quality of hits I can get but the leakage is a real downer for me. I truly want to be able to keep this thing clean so any tips would be much appreciated.

It will leak through the 3 bottom vent holes when it is in a liquid state from heating. You need to take several long draws after using it to cool it down and to also keep the concentrates in the screen area. Once it cools the leakage will not happen as it is too thick to go through the holes. It took me a little mastering to learn how to get over this also. But once you get it dialed, it is awesome!!!

The way I could tell I was doing enough cool down pulls was to un thread the upper portion and to look at the vent holes and see if there was any shiny spots from the concentrates. Hope this helps and hang in there you are very close to fruition!!!!

Thank you for tips and encouragement. I do feel like I'm almost there but seeing a leak knocks me back to frustration. I will work on the cool down.

This is something that seems like everyone comes against in the learning of the Herc carts. Think of it as a performance machine. Picky and needing attention. But worth all of it when you use it at the optimal state. This thing will give you solid tasty hits and very little fuss once mastered. I poured a hole gram into mine wondering how it could take so much. Only to realize it had all oozed through into the lower chamber. Made me a very sad camper. Now I feel pretty comfortable using my Herc and knowing how much to load and when to stop pushing the power button. If you are using a 7.4 rod. Maybe grab the 3.7 and give it a try as it is slower to heat up and easier to master before moving into the 7.4v rod.

So regardless of your inhalation technique, to be leak free All you need to do is change your 30 second passive cool down to a minute or two of cool down draws. After you are done with your session simply draw through the Herc without pressing the button. This cools down the oil and makes it stay in the coils instead of leaking down through the air inlet holes.

I used to take my Nibbler off to cool down. (I'd put my finger on the Herc to see if it was still warm) Now I just draw for 2 mins and only need to open up to add oil. 4 or 5 grams since last cleaning, still working perfectly...

How are you guys holding the Persei as you hit it? I try and stay at a slant but tend to position it vertically since I keep thinking the pool will leak towards the mouthpiece.

Somewhere between 0 and 70° degrees works fine. With the Nibbler 90° means water gets in your mouth. If you are hitting it beyond 45° sometimes a bit of oil will pool. Rotate the unit to vape that stuff (IE if you had the button up. Flip it so the button's on the bottom and you push with your thumb)

Or maybe that's just my imagination...

i had some questions about the ecig products on the up tech site, if any one knows I would appreciate it
1. the uptech protank 2 is it 601 threaded or 510, on the site it doesn't have option and doesn't include adapter, if it is 601, I'm sold.
2. KISS V2 globe, does that mean we'll see a Ti2 version, also does it use only the coil wick and ceramic cup from the kiss v2, or the whole entire kiss v2 heating base, if it uses the base with the globe attachment that would be my preference.

my stock 7.4 coil crapped out after only 4 dabs the first time using it!
I was even dropping it through the cart onto the coil with a glass dabber.
It never went dry, the ti coil wire just broke! can this be fixed?

Well I have a 3.7 KISS cart, that was fun...then I loaded up the Hercules.....what a freakin beast!
Its really quite nice having the 3.7 on the small ss holder. took it to the bar and know one really bothered to care too much or notice at all.
But the SR-74 beats all! I'm lovin it!

W9 tech set me up very nicely.

U can rebuild them. Page 750 has the instruction done by diehard. The link to it is on the page before this one. I found am unknown guage of nichrome wire at a local shop and with 4 wraps it melted the rubber seal on the bottom because the resistance was under one ohm. Then I broke the ceramic wick trying to get 5 wraps. Just do it correct the first time and your good. Sleepin in CA has some info on it in his Sig as well

I had this issue for the first month I had the product even after I squished the coils between two coins but it was still leaking. It was driving me NUTS!

**YOU COULD WRECK YOUT COIL SO BE CAREFUL** What I did was loosen up the titanium coil but kept its original circle shape and wide enough that you can barely get it back in. The coil wouldn't look pretty but does a helluva job.

Push it down with a paper clip or shish kabob stick and put it to the bottom.

I have had zero leaks since I have done this. I am using one coil. Hope this helps!

Dude that looks like excess plant material left over from your concentrates. Need to freeze your buds and alcohol overnight before washing if you are using DIY alcohol based extracts. This will help you keep plant stuff out.

If you are buying it, I would suggest finding another supplier if possible.

Even the cleanest of concentrate will build up like that given enough time. Question is how on did it take?

Alright, it's time I posted my review of this incredible product.

Yes, obviously I like it a lot.

Ok, for a bit of background. I have electrical/engineering/technician/scientific work backgrounds. The learning curve was very easy for me because I have these already. However, the first thing I tell anybody when I let them use the Persei is that this is not a consumer electronic device (iPad, Pax etc), this is a tool. You need to understand it, you need to maintain it properly and you need to not just wing it and deviate from how it is meant to work. You must own a DMM to maintain this product properly. That being said, I have found the performance to be worth it!

I bought the following:
Persei ti Black
Persei Black SS Kit
Herc SR74 (with 3.7v and 7.4v rods)
Bender/Hammer
2 x ti kiss carts (3.7v)
1 x ti kiss cart (7.4v)
Assorted AW 18350s and a few AW 18650s

Construction/Visual appeal: The thing I actually like the most about the Persei is the ecig-like form of the device. I live in a country where amber concentrates (Wax/Shatter/whatever) are unheard of. Their smell unknown, their appearance confused with maple syrup or something lol. This is the stealthiest way to vape in public (with SS shorty tube and 18350 and either kiss carts or 3.7v herc). I regularly use this in front of people in restaurants, pubs, clubs, bars, anywhere!

The SS kit is a must for those wanting to vape in public. The Persei is extremely durable, has the right amount of heft in the hand without being heavy, and looks splendid. The combination of Silver Kiss carts with the Black SS shorty base is a vision to behold, looks like some kind of bizarre high end lipstick applicator lol. The packaging and the visual appeal of every product is absolutely top-notch. I can see why @THC SCIENTIFIC is widely regarded as the man when it comes to oil vapes. This stuff is as high quality as I could ever ask for! Well done on sourcing safe materials and putting them together well, Gary

Function (vaporizing): The Persei taught me how to make better concentrates, and how to tell which are better or worse. My QWET wax I was originally using when I got the Persei was full of plant material, and bubbled like crazy, it also tasted unpleasant. I had not until after hearing the bubbling in my KISS carts and speaking to Gary over Skype realised that this was the case. After refining my technique (see my thread in concentrates section and pictures further back in this thread), I am now producing QWISO amber shatter. Loading this into my KISS carts is great, I use the hammer top on the back of my globfather II ti dab tool to let the wax/shatter just roll onto the top of the coil, screw it back together (not too tightly) and hold the button in for 5 seconds to melt into the coil, then 8 seconds for taking a hit generally (don't start inhaling til after 4 seconds of heat).

Function (The Hercules): What can I say? This is the best way to vaporize oils, hands down. I own an E-Nano, Gravlabs ti gr2 nail/reclaimer, a lotus, loads of SS wool and abovementioned kiss carts and nothing tastes better with my concentrates. First of all, you need to take the time to learn how to use the herc. Know how to take it apart and put it together well, learn how to place the heater rods properly and always use a DMM after reassembly to make sure it is properly assembled. Cleaned all the parts with ISO and reassembled the Herc (thanks to help here on how to take an accurate DMM reading!).

Once properly assembled, I primed it for 20 seconds (3.7v rod) and then hit the Herc over 16 seconds, doing my 8 second pulses. Then another 8. Wow! I just got the best tasting mouthful of shatter I have ever had in my life. If the 3.7v rod is the hardest thing to use, then nobody needs to be intimidated by the Herc/Persei combo.

Battery Life: I am solely using the smaller AW 18350s at the moment, with my 3.7 kiss/herc. The battery life is great, I'll generally get a day's worth of getting high from one AW 18350, and I have a gargantuan tolerance. I will say that one great feature in new tops would be something to tell us when the battery voltage has sunk below 3.7v and needs recharging though. This is probably my only complaint thus far about the entire collection of stuff I have bought

Bender/Hammer: I must admit, I've only used my Bender once. I generally vape herb through my E-Nano and glass at home. I don't bring flowers out and about. I didn't know a thing about technique, and did slightly combust like 1/30 of the 1g load in the end. However, I got some incredible tasting clouds from it! I can see why @ataxian used to rave so much about it! It is great. I will be hitting the Bender again soon, since Gary has given me the lowdown on how to use it properly.

Now to the Hammer. I never thought I'd use this much, but this is now a key tool in all of my oil vaping tasks. I use it to melt dabs off my dab tool, I use it to loads my KISS carts and Herc, I use it to melt dabs back up my Nano GonGs and all kinds of things. This is an absolute must-have. You should all probably get a second Persei just to have one of these permanently on hand and at the ready! I do confess that a soldering iron could do the same job, however, I can trust that the materials that my Persei/Hammer are made out of will not cause me any undue harm, and it's handy not having a wire hanging off the end of what you are trying to manipulate dabs with lol

Final Thoughts: I am sure I have missed loads here, however, I want to take time here to make special note of Gary's service. I have been speaking to him back and forth over FC and Skype for a fortnight now, and he is among the most down-to-earth, honest and forthcoming business people I have ever dealt with. His service has been beyond reproach in every way, and very often well above and beyond what I would ever expect. I would encourage everyone considering pulling the trigger on any w9 gear not to hesitate. Gary will answer any questions you have and help with any issues you run into, and you can buy his vaping tools knowing that you are right on the cutting edge of vape technology. This is an enthusiast vape if I ever owned one.

I will finally highlight that it took me a good 5 days of learning how to use the Persei and each of the accessories properly. I have also not used any 7.4v attachments apart from the Hammer yet. This is to highlight that even with my background, you will need to spend some time doing vaping homework to get your technique down. However, the rewards far more than justify the learning time spent.

Kudos to you Gary. Your products are exactly what I needed for my on the go needs, and so much more. Your service is the kind that'll have me not hesitating to order from you in the future, and happy to recommend your stuff to everyone I meet.

I have a question about the herc SR74. Since I am using wax/shatter I am using one coil with about .5-.6 loaded right now. However, the coil seems to be rising up through the tube toward the mouthpiece and thus very little vapor is being produced.

Is this something I can fix by just squashing the ti coil to fit more snugly in the tube?

Just wanna check before I go messing with things whilst vaked off my ass!

I had the same problem with the coil sliding up while inhaling. Do this. Squish the coil gently with pliers. Squish it very little. You want a bit of a oval shape to it. It will stay stuck once you do this. Be careful when putting back on the coil. Don't push the oil on the chamber down and clog your herc. Overall I recommend you do a ISO bath before reassembly. Don't want to push oil down with the coil. Kinda like a piston forcing down oil into bottom chamber and causing a major clog
