The video sure motivates the viewer to see more, and i hope this comment of mine falls about right as i wouldn't want to interrupt, but i think this excerpt from the video's public comments happens to provide some really important clue to the convection topic actual

To me it takes waaaaaaaaay too long to get anything (imagine doing that walking along the street) and then its a small cloud to top it off, so not for me this one :( unless there are some improvements?

Idk it seems to get decent clouds quick enough, heat it up first before hitting it? I would not notice someone on the street with it honestly. Many people put pens to their mouths often as a bad habit anyways.

I thought that a few days ago , maybe heat up abit before putting to mouth, is that doable? or does it need sucktion?
Maybe that is an older model also, as the video is old.....

Maybe...thats at least how every vape I ever used worked, hoping for the same here.

It's also not at full power, I think it goes into the 400 range now.

I just noticed it's been a year now since 1st page and it seems they wont be ready in July even :( , also most of the links on the 1st page dont work , at least not for me :(

I got this email from Trevor on the 17th of may.

I wrote:

Hi, trevor. I was wondering how things were flowing with the grasshopper.
I missed the indiegogo campaign and was curious when I would be able to get one to try and review.
Please let me know when they will be available to people not on the kickstart campaign.
I have high hopes with this unit, and want to aquire one as soon as I am able.
I am on "the list" and was wondering when I will be able to purchase a grasshopper also what the cost will be.
Thanks for your time.

We have not released the official preorder price yet, but we hope to soon. We are looking to open preorders in the next 2 weeks depending on how the finial setup for that goes.

So there may be some hope for the kickstarters soon.
I'm going to see where they're at on Monday and I'll post any progress I may find.

PD,,, Have you seen or do you know something to suggest that they won't be able to meet their cautiously optimistic July roll-out date? I might have missed it...:shrug:

Also, I believe those links on the first few pages were for the old name they were going to call the 'Hopper. They abandoned zenpen for fear of a lawsuit from some other company using the name...at least that was my recollection of the "facts". :)

They seem like a bunch of stand up guys, always nice and seem to be honest with whats going on, its been a good kickstarter and I do think I will it at my door in a month or two hopefully, hell if nothing else I know at least at the pace they are going it will be here in 2014 haha....

Yep, that's right.

There should be an update tomorrow, so hopefully we have some good news. Hopefully they have ordered the production parts, or at least order them sometime this week or next.

Hummm... This certainly sounds like what i've just done with my modded pipe in the veranda a couple minutes ago: pre-heat until it turns dim-red, leave butane lighter aside then enjoy the difference in aroma/taste perception for using an alternate "butane-free" mode of operation.

Anyway, how about a [Boost] button?...

Wouldn't boost just be vaping at a higher temp? I might be incorrect, never used one with a boost. I heard of people actually torching(torch lighter) the bottom of the vaporgenie ball(The ceramic element) and then screwing it on and vaping away(Keeps it hot apparently for a bit).

The GH vaporizer is supposed to be convection-based and i happen to recall that in another situation this caused me to wish for a [Boost] button capable of enhancing convection with fair amounts of conductive & radiative heat, perhaps - isn't such combination driving the HerbalAire after all!! More precisely, while using a table Arizer model i missed those other heat components as i just seemed to keep preparing my next toke. So, considering a user will risk having to retry again if/when his cannabic vapor fails to emerge within a convenient timeframe, euh... I guess a [Boost] button should prove handy then.

Does GH pre-heating require significant lung work? If so, how about some sliding crucible which momentarily touches its heater to add some conductive boost at times while mainly convection otherwise?...

That's very similar ritual to how i managed to get an early taste of butane-free inhalations using my 3-Stones VG pipe but there's still the option to inhale and heat with a blue jet flame simultaneously too. Perhaps the GH won't be radically different, anyone seen any heat-exchanger details?...

By writing about "an early taste of butane-free inhalations" i simply meant no butane fire is being used DURING those inhalations, so this doesn't imply i might even feel like complaining about butane, actually.

Fresh update from the team, sadly it looks like the ship date has been pushed to Late July/Early August at the earliest, with a September ship date being mentioned as likely.

Update day! Yesterday marked our deadline to get all of our final part versions submitted for mass production. Unfortunately, we did not hit that deadline. Some parts still require minor tweaks, and we’re working all-out to get it done. Matt, our lead engineer, has worked the last 57 days-in-a-row and isn’t planning on breaking that streak until we’re done.

I am happy to inform you that we’re still within budget, and work with our manufacturers has been going very well. Keep in mind that everything on the Grasshopper has been designed in-house from the ground up. None of the electronics, design, software, molds or mechanical parts have been outsourced to any other company. We did this to keep the cost low and the device optimized, but it’s been even more time-consuming than we could have imagined. This decision, while a contributing factor to delays, has allowed us to stay on budget and build the device we’ve always known was possible.

This is an exciting stage of the project, as we are in the process of receiving new parts. We’ve posted photos on our instagram, with some of what we’ve received. Those photos can also be found below. There will be much more to come very soon.

Missing our deadline to submit the final parts means we are behind schedule. This is bad news for hitting our estimated delivery in July. We’re continuing to shoot for beginning deliveries in late July and early August, but a more likely delivery date for the bulk of the units will be September. It seems like we are steadily pushing back the date, but it’s truly hard to predict what potential problems might arise, and how much extra development time is needed. We will always be providing you with the best possible information regarding production and delivery.

Expect our updates to continue, and to see more and more photos of our assembly space and production parts as we move forward.

As a member of this talented team, it’s incredibly hard for me to bring the bad news. I make a big effort to try and keep every backer happy, and I know that the delays make this ever-more difficult. But due to the overwhelming passion and commitment of this team, I can say with absolute certainty that we will deliver a product that will exceed your expectations. I hope I’ve conveyed that over these last months.

Yeah I kinda thought another month or two going by what the last update seemed like, not to shocked.

Would be nice if they were spot on.

Yeah maybe late July, or sometime in August, or probably September. If not then, definately by the end of the year. Unless we have some delays. In which case it'll be just a little bit late.

It's el vapo mañana.....
