Any Drummers/Drum Lovers In The House?

A bit different to some of the vids posted here, but I enjoyed the Travis Barker album where he drummed all the beats for hiphop artists to rap over

Kolias is a freaking monster. My friend is a huge death metal head (as are many of my friends) and drummer. He actually won the double bass portion of the World's Fastest Drummer contest back in '07. I'm sure I don't have to ask, but do you know about Derek Roddy? Dude is a BEAST. Most people only know him for his work with Hate Eternal but his drumming stretches way beyond simply metal.

Tomas is another beast. I don't listen to Meshuggah personally, but I made a personal challenge to myself about two years ago to try and learn the opening pattern to Bleed using one foot. Obviously it's impossible to get it up to actual speed, but the challenge helped me develop some crazy single pedal chops. Check it out!

(Skip to 1:45 if you don't want to hear me talk about my bipolar disorder)

Yeah Roddy is really good too. I saw Hate Eternal years back and they were pretty amazing, he was also drummer for Nile... briefly. I'll admit i'm one of the ppl who only know him for his metal drumming, what else has he done?

That's cool as hell about the one footed Bleed thing, the patters in that song (and really all Meshuggah songs) are amazing, sort of a pain in the ass to learn tho lol. I'm not a drummer, but as a guitarist i play the same rhythmic patterns right along with those kicks

Here's a solo that he did at a clinic about 7 years ago now. At around 2:15 is where shit starts getting real. He plays over some cool ostinato patterns.

Yeah, Meshuggah's parts are always crazily interlocked. Can drive you :mental:.

Here's the newest lesson in my Experimental Drumming Techniques series. It focuses on a cool way to emulate the sound of a phaser FX pedal, using just your sticks and a snare drum. I also demonstrate one way it can be applied to a groove setting.

Experimental Drumming Techniques: Lesson 4 - Set Phasers To Drum! (The Stick Rub)

This video always leaves me with a good feeling in my pants. Stef Broks, of the Finnish band, Textures.

This is also pretty cool, he sequences all the electronic music and beats himself and then rigged up this overly complicated system where he can in live time pull up pre-programmed beats and such on the fly and play/improvise along to that if he feels like it. It's pretty crazy, and Navene goes pretty crazy on the drums haha

Very cool! There's a cat named KJ Sawka who does similar stuff but more drum 'n bass style.

If watching cute drummer chicks rockin' out is your bag, check out Lux Drummerette. Here she is playing a Decapitated song.

And lets not forget the queen of percussion, the baddest of them all, Miss Sheila E!

And as a bonus, for those who didn't know, Chaka Khan gets down like a mofo on the drums. She's got that dirty, funky sound.

Dejohnette is an amazing drummer and a living legend! A lot of people don't know this, but he's actually a great piano player as well.

I just posted this lesson that breaks down what I call an "upside down samba".
