Discontinued The Hammer Vaporizer

i rarely release the button during a hit, and that is the part hammer is a beast: can handle hard hitting.

Hammer really need to be tuned to the place you live (pressure and temperature, season etc..).
To me @chimpybits i would say you need to tune up or down, depends the good operating zone in the setting you found.

Just need to slide the red disks like a very normal lighter.

OK, so I purged and had a 1/2 bowl w/o any problems afaik.

Did the purge as per @pakalolo. I purged first upside-down then rightside-up. Filled as per the yt video on previous page (3x3 short bursts). The Hammer certainly showed back pressure / full via spewing some butane outside the valve. There is still the little crescent shape (indicating either a bubble or the surface) in the level window, but it's higher and looks fuller. And the Hammer's a heavier Hammer.

Set the fuel about 3/4, ignited, warmed-up and began my sesh.

Sometimes I didn't see the ignition flame, but would feel heat above and heard the usual sounds ?afaik?, and then I would begin the hit, taste test for vapor heat and continue hitting. I could check for the blue ring first, but I'm lazy, and more importantly, my friend is really lazy, so prefer to have stem attached before igniting. (Yes, I leave stem off during initial 30 sec warm up).

More often than not (esp. in darker settings), I do see the ignition flame. Sometimes it's quite prominent extending above and outside the device. In darker settings I can also see the blue ring of flame from above.

Had a fine, quick, thorough vape w/o methinks any ignition failures.

Reading your issues many notes to tell:
- The size of the flame/pressure of spitting kind of depends on the tank level. norm is full tank or so for the setting
- To have refilled unit many times could bring propellant on the tank, so you should considerate these variations and a proper purged and refilled device is the norm
- I would bet on too high tuning for gaz flux. Is your unit functionning good only on low settings (0 to 1/4)?.
-Does the flux stop when you release the button or it continues to o spit?
-Many missed click?hammer functionning never miss any click. Flux is too high.

@chimpybits I would advise you to retune the setting of the valve down a bit to have a low temp hammer on the 0 setting on a full fresh purged tank.

On my first hammer i had a medieval torch in my hand with the hammer overtuned.
Later while posting this, I reviewed previous posts esp. @Vapodudule and realized I should have played with tuning my flux?!

So, w/o the stem I played with the fuel slider and ignited. It certainly sounds quite different at the lower settings - much quieter, not so much a "roar", more of a shhhh. It does continue to shhh (spit?) after releasing the button on all but the lowest settings. I now wanna try at 0 to 1/4 setting next round. I can see how one can listen for the best roar indicating good flux.

I may even do another purge first. It does look like I've already gone through some fuel during these tests. I think I'm getting a handle on reading the fuel level thx to the sideways orientation tip @ryan8.

I may have also had a non-ignition and heard the hiss w/o the roar/shhhh.

For those posting about poor hit performance. Trust me. No need. Right away this thing hit like a truck. After the initial warm-up period, one doesn't need to wait at all before hitting it. This is also why I'm releasing the trigger. I'm a vaporist, and I can recognize a full intake of high-temp vapor. The excessive clouds don't lie.

We have been running it at full setting. The high-temp (near combustion, very dark ABV) clouds are the way to go for now for my smoking friend.

Myself, I prefer lower temps esp. at start of sesh. I look forward to trying lower settings next round.

Speaking of which, I gotta get outside away from wired devices for the aft. Then perhaps an eve sesh awaits me and checking back in here. ttfn.

So does anyone else's hammer wiggle? My lower half of my prize hammer can wiggle side to side and my button comes off:ugh:.My other hammer doesn't do this at all. Wanted to see if I was the only one with this issues or if others have a "loose" end as well.

OK so if I grab the lower end of the hammer where the tank is, it can be moved(wiggled) left and right. and the button comes off the ignition all my screws are there as well. Hammer told me it should be fine but my other hammer doesn't do this. I don't know why a prize one would come like this when my other hammer is tight and button stays on.

Mine, bought during the 420 sale, also has a small wiggle. I have not thought anything of it and it continues to perform flawlessly. My nozzle (that I put on the bowl or wpa) is also not centered and is slightly crooked, but I have not given either of those minor issues a second thought. I figure when the wiggling bothers me enough, I will open her up, tighten everything down, and straighten out the offset nozzel- I never felt these issues were above my understanding to fix on my own.

@FlyingLow YOur nozzle is just fine moving, it does not affect the behavior ime. Let it move.

If you put the same condom equipement on the other nozzle, you can have a cleaner airpath attaching there another lock on stem.

@$unnyblaq strange issue i will have a look some time.

:science:

Between turning the flame control up, and using Ed's stem, I am FINALLY getting some decent hits with the Hammer. I was ready to Sell the damned thing!! :bang:

Now, I'm keeping it. :freak:

Awesome! I was talking to Ed earlier this week and he got working on a stem for me as well. Unfortunately the stock of wood I chose kept giving him trouble and splitting several times in a row:(

Excellent communicator though, he let me know immediately the issues and I am going to choose another species of wood. Yours just came out beautiful! Gets me even more excited to get my order in:D:D:D:D

Volute of Vapor
Big thanks to Paytonpen to show me how to use the Hammer as a nail, now it's my dabbing dedicaced device, I never took so smooth dabs before, vapor is like butter in comparison with a Ti nail (glass nail is better than Ti but hammer is smoother than glass and ti);

It's awesome since the heat exchanger is stainless steel, I thought nail was Titane cause it tasted better than SS.

The Hammer is the better nail or concentrate device I ever tried, the vapor is like honey you want to eat it!

@Enchantre What is the price on one of those custom wood stems and do you notice any difference in vapor quality as far taste and temperature?
I provided @Ed's TnT with the stock glass stem, and we fiddled with it... so, I did get a bit of a break, but I think that when he has Hammer stems available, they would run very, very close to his new Nano stem prices.

I get BETTER vapor production, taste is good, a tiny bit muted, I'd say, but cooling is greatly improved. It's so very short (same as stock), yet feels like more distance from the heat. :)

Email him, or PM him, I'm sure he'll have better details.

Is that the Nicaraguan cocobolo? Does if almost feel like a plastic? I had a solo stem made out of it, it was gorgeous but i didn't like the feel. I love my purpleheart stem for my UD.

Fwiw I love the added taste from using wooden stems, and Ed is a boss, and a good guy, can't go wrong ordering from him.

Nano / Hammer / LSV / O-Phos / D020
I just want to say that I love my nano + hammer combo. They seem to complement eachother very well. The hammer will work with the nano wpa adapter, and is great when I want cordless freedom or don't feel like waiting for the nano to heat up. When I don't feel like dealing with the downsides of the hammer - having to hold down the igniter, or having to be mindful of the timing and temperature, I just use the nano which is much more fool proof and set and forget.

Hey hammer mates, just spend the second week with my tool of the year and wanted to give a short report.

After the initial butane filling ran out I had a few hard days with the hammer. Filling it was no problem, but I didn't managed to get the herbs as dark as before, only got them to a dried out yellow color at 100%.

Thanks to @Vapodudule excellent adjustment instructions in this thread I could fix it by myself. Now I use a maximum filled hammer starting at 30% and increasing in 5% steps after a stem till i reach 70%, love it. But be aware, better contact hammer-guys if something is wrong. You will want calm hands for this job and will loose any warranties i guess.

So after the first week things went smooth and I really appriciate the big hits with the tiniest amounts of herb.
My usual stem is filled with just 5mm of a slightly grinded pea-sized bud (~0.03g). After heating up 30 seconds I attach the stem and start drawing slowly for 10seconds with the flame on, then release the button and continue to draw for 10 secdons. The first hit is extremly tasty but only slight vapor, after heating up 10 seconds repeat the process for hit two and three and the herbs are dark chocolate colored with huge vapor clouds, makes me smile for the next 2 hours.

Really like the handling although I wouldn't feel to confident in a public space using it. But at home, in company or alone a real fun experience. During longer outdoor trips a real wheight saver, too. Also love the ease of handling this tool, really only need the basic package it comes with and your herb. Done. No need to take a grinder with you, crumb with your finger to pie size is enough to milk them. After the stem is finished just blow through it and its ready for round two.
Cleaning is very complex. The stem starts to stink after a dozen fillings, gently shake 3 times with little ISO in it, let it dry. Swipe the hammer with a towel. Done, awesome.

Also tried my first dab @paytonpenn style with an experimental first QWET-result, worked great but the QWET was to dirty, so it sticked in the airpath till it blocked completly. Just let it cool down and used a tooth-picker to get the residue out. Easy.

Next week I will play around with my bubbler and the hammer, should be no problem to milk a pea-bud in one great hit with it.

So far so good, I'm impressed with the ease of things this beast offers, but it will remain at home or in private circles/trips. It's somewhat the opposite of a character compared with my MFLB, the only other vape I own, but I love them both for their simplicity in very different styles.

So if your looking for a great priced vape which is easy to learn and even easier to maintain, look no further. As long as stealth is no factor this is a lot of bang for the bucks!

greetings

I got mine shortly after the 420 sale, and after some tuning, I am also really getting everything out of this device. I am using out of the bubbler 98% of the time and LOVE it!

My only complaints are known; the butane fumes do continue to exhaust into my face with my sherlock bubbler, staying near ventilation helps me greatly. I do find I am burning through much more butane than I do with my Lotus, but that is also expected.

I am looking forward to seeing what improvements they might make on a v2 Hammer. What would you all like to see? Any changes? If nothing else, I would like to see an improvement in butane efficiency/heat up time to make that tank last longer.

- A more ergonomic grip would be fine. And along with this, maybe a more relaxed body expression can reached this way also. I always feel a little cramped in the guestures of the ritual but maybe this fades as I get used to it.
- And an even better protected heat-chamber would be nice. Didn't got a burned skin yet, but guess it's just a matter of time until the first little accident happens to me. :D
- Effiecency/HeatUp I would also agree, but not for the cost of size please.
