Hey guys, so after a little surprise, I have $100 to spend on anything and I'm set on using it for something to add with my ascent. What do you guys reccomend I get?

Too bad I live in Arkansas so no great bud. Im not one of the lucky few with a Cali hookup

Got the screens, the straight adaptor, pack riot case and I already have some glass pieces. Just wondering if there's anything else worth getting besides maybe a better grinder or some smell proof stuff.

Maybe look into the Santa Cruz Shredder grinder? Expensive, but consistent (and fluffier) grind, might be an upgrade (anyone care to test the difference between an SCS and a traditional grinder... hint hint @KeroZen ha ha)

And it'll be a great upgrade for your future vaporizer acquisitions (Just wait for the VAS to kick in)

And of course, like @OF said, top shelf. Look around, ask around, might find something really tasty for the Ascent

How about a wooden stem from Ed, like a 14mm stem or a glass gong from DV?

its always good to have a back up vape, something cheap.

Hi Very high
Hello again ascent owners. Can anyone comment on the smell? Compared to a solo or Pinnacle pro the same or a lot worse? After watching vapefiends videos again he does claim there is an issue with odor leakage and it does smell worse than my current vapes :( can anyone confirm? Is this to do with the seals not fitting properly? Thanks in advance.

Can't comment on my current Ascent (Don't use as often since getting my Lotus), but with my old Ascent which was used daily, there was an odor to it, especially noticeable when I removed it from the tiny bag included in every box (The smell mainly emanates apparently from the bottom of the unit around the oven).

Never had the Solo or the PNP, so I cannot compare to them either.

W0t??? 5*feet* of tubing?? That's a lot of air to evacuate before you start even getting vapor. I don't like the whip on my other unit for that reason.
Actually the volume of a 5 foot long 3/8 inch inner diameter tube is 26 cubic inches, only 7% of an average adult's tidal lung volume. I disagree and do not think that is a lot of air to evacuate. A 2 inch wide 12 inch high tube of a bong has a volume of 150 cubic inches (not including the volume of the water chamber) for comparison.
Once the tube is cleared of air, the vapor in the tube is good for hours.

I like the cooling effect the tube provides inexpensively and its portability. I am not willing yet to fork up hundreds of dollars to water condition a vapor. Using the tube reduces handling of the Ascent which over time decreases damage to the unit.

How about half a dozen grams of some really tasty top shelf bud?

Seriously, if you don't have some glass flowers, put them on the list.

I agree with OF, the glass flowers provide good heat and screening of particles and are cheap. I am really impressed with the increased efficiency provided to my Ascent with my recently received packet of flowers. Just put them on top of a load packed or not, and your vapor clouds production is improved.

It's similar to how smelly the Pinnacle Pro is. The Solo is the least smelly of all. The smell doesn't linger. It's mainly when heating up the herb. You get vapor coming out the bottom grill with the Ascent.

Has anyone had any success vaping concentrates alone in the Ascent? I've tried putting shatter and wax inside a cotton bowl but it didn't vape at all. I've had limited success mixing some with bud but I'd like to vape only a concentrate- it's a taste thing.

I seriously doubt cotton balls are going to do much good with Ascent given what we've found out about how it works. It's a conduction vape, and cotton balls are lousy conductors of heat....... In sch cases all they can do is slow it down I think.

Such 'troublesome details' of Physics are important here I think, they can't really be avoided.

If you're bent on this I suggest substituting a piece of the pads sold for Volcano concentrate use. Even though they are designed for convection vapes. Being a single SS wire, they should conduct heat much better. I don't own an Ascent to try it in, but they do OK in similar cases.

Regards.

Oh wow i didnt soak for nearly long enough lol... only a couply of hours in 70%, i think.
Oh so you woul just soak and then boil away the ISO?
I wish the screen part could be screwed off!

Lol ya I like to soak my stems
For at least a day or two. Followed by a quick run under the tap and they look good as new. I have tried using 70% ISO and it doesn't work near as well, especially if you plan on reclaiming you want the highest percentage possible. I have been able to find 99% at walmart and a few local pharmacies up here in canada anyways.

OK I have bought two Ascents, one from GotVape and one from DaVinci. Both sell for $250. Both have broken, button malfunction and power plug receptical failure. GotVape shipped out a new unit the same day they received the broken unit. The return process was quick and efficient. No glitches, and customer service was faultless. My experience with DaVinci has been at the opposite pole. Glitches caused by poorly worded email communication resulted in my unit sitting in their shipping department for 4 days, while my voice mail inquiries went unanswered. Today I found out it will be a week before the tech can repair the unit. Also expedited shipping is not available for repaired items.
The rep at DaVinci said 2800 of these units have been returned. They work great but are not likely to be durable. That is why I have two units.
If you are considering purchasing an Ascent, you are likely to deal with customer service for returns. GotVape has outperformed DaVinci at every point of the customer service process. I strongly recommend buying from GotVape instead of DaVinci. You'll get a new replacement rather than a opened and repaired unit. The return process is a week faster with GV. GV answers the phone and has expedited efficient return processes. I felt the customer service at DV was unprofessional.
You have been warned.
@Ratchet yes, the rep said that they are repairing units. So unlike GV, with DV you now have to wait for them to repair the unit. All my units were the second series. I am glad the person at DV you worked with was good, maybe you have good karma coming to you.

Sucks you've had such bad luck - but then again, I wonder what model revision you had the problems with (were they 1AA1 models, or the newer 2AA1 units?).

Also, my experience with DV was quite the opposite. I had a session with my Ascent, then I tried to start a new session 2 hours later, only to find the unit wouldn't power up (this was Thursday night, 8pm eastern time). Called Davinci - a woman answered, took down my info, and had someone email me back on Friday morning to open an RMA ticket. Shipped my Davinci on a Friday, they received it and shipped a replacement unit 4 days later.

My understanding was they were not repairing any units, and were instead replacing them (that was their statement to me about a month ago). I'm surprised they're now fixing units instead of replacing them....

Hi. First post. :)

Has anyone in all these 234 pages suggested the Ascent would be easier to use if the inner glass tubes' intake holes were bigger?

The Ascent is the only vaporizer I've ever used or owned. It was recommended highly by a nice guy at the vaporizer store. Have used it 2 months for medical herb here in California. Lung cancer survivor so far, etc. Anyhow...don't want more products of combustion.

When I bought replacement tube sets as back-ups, DaVinci happened to send me one set with bigger holes than others have. It's wonderful! With just my mouth on the inner tubes (outside the unit) only that one lets air (and vapor when inside the unit) flow unrestricted.

A gentleman at DaVinci explained on the phone that air dilutes vapor and it's better to suck hard for little. I don't believe that; vapor can't move without air flow. Didn't argue the point.

After measuring with tiny drill bits, my husband ordered a 3/32" Dremel diamond wheel point bit. Please wish us luck enlarging holes?

Helpful input from folks more familiar with the Ascent will be appreciated.

Thanks for the welcome and the link. :) I saved it in case of need.

Learned about the glass' fragility while using the metal tool to clean the first one in the unit. Since then, I only poke gently and soak in alcohol every few days.

The glass will be clamped/clipped in position when worked on and husband tends to be pretty steady-handed so I'm hopeful. If all is ruined, it's great to have the wood option. Sure beats replacing the whole vaporizer!

The past few days I've been offered by multiple friends to come over and smoke with them. I am un easy about it because I'm so used to vaporizing but i don't have my ascent or MFLB yet (waiting on Massdrop). Does anyone else flat out avoid combusting now that they are in to vapeing or do you still combust if you have no other option? What are you opinions on situations like this?

Though I have been a fervent vaporist for almost 4 years now, I am not above combusting if left to no other recourse. It has probably happened less than 10 times over that period of time. Combusting gets the job done, but it tastes horrible now, burns my throat (quite sensitive) and dries out my eyes. :puke:

So, for me at least, I try to avoid it at all costs. However, when combusting, it only reinforces what an incredibly wise move I made all those months ago...:2c::tup:
