Discontinued herbalAire

Putin is a War Criminal
@PoisonousHydra That is about the color I get at 350°F. I usually save a crucible of that to vape before bed to knock me out.
And there should be NO noise coming from the vape. Mine, at least, is dead silent. I wonder if you DO have a problem with your oven...

@MG23 - Yes, it looks off to me as well. I think that single picture you quoted is only a good representation of the colour of the outsides and tops of the whole buds, but the background is white, and the lighting was white, so it adds far too much shadow and contrast to the rest of the buds. I thought of leaving it out altogether for that reason.

@cybrguy - I am really starting to think so. I will contact HerbalAire and see what they have to say about the matter.

I have always intoned that I have terrible luck, but I suppose part of me just can't believe that this could be yet another failed vapourizer to add to the list of tombstones in my signature. In the words of Luke Skywalker: "NOOOO! That's not true! That's impossible!".

Many thanks to everyone involved for your help!

It's not even so much about the color of the other ones in comparison as it is the lack of uniformity.
The one I quoted looks the same chocolate color all the way through, not speckled with green and tan like the others.
HerbalAire ABV completed at 400 should look llike the pieces in the picture I quoted, and when you crush them they become uniform chocolate dust of the same color. There should never be any green in truly finished ABV unless you are vaping at low temps. (~325)

PoisonousHydra,

Can anyone comment on the "buzzing"...

Hummm...

If that sound seems artificial then maybe your heater element is signing, but mine in a v2.1 didn't as far as i can remember... What about liquid extracts deep inside your heat-exchanger? Though this would produce a sound with some organic touch to it, more like cooking sizzles i think.

I made some testing and I'm agree with you, obturate the airpath helps to get a faster extraction but, like I told you before I love this device dry with full filled crucible not packed at all of whole nugs, you can get tasty hits for at least 20mn(autoshutoff) at lowtemp (with whip or drymp).

I know all that you explain about particules in vapor when you got lot of visibility, but sometime I like that(yes it is!) and for this purpose I get others vapes, but I'm sure the HA is a heavy hitter too but I prefer his other face...

There is no another of my vapes able to handle whole nugs as the HA (with a so perfect and even extraction)

PoisonousHydra,

It was like this brand-new, out of the box. Unless someone at HerbalAire or PlanetVape ran some fine honey through my unit before shipping it out to me, I doubt this to be the cause of the noise :D.

I have isolated the noise to the bottom of the unit. In fact, if I put my ear directly up against the window in the bottom I can hear it perfectly.

I wasn't sure if my phone's microphone would do a good enough job picking it up, but it's definitely audible, especially when it kicks back in around 0:47. If you turn up your speakers I'm sure you will be able to notice the difference.

It looks like I will be returning this to HerbalAire as soon as I get my Da Buddha in the mail. Has anyone had any experience with their customer service? Do they even have, or need such a thing? These things are built like tanks, which is probably why I, and others assumed that it was everything else before calling the unit itself into question. Then again, there are people whom make a killing serviving tanks for a living..... hmmm.....

@MG23 - This is why I was frustrated when you initially assumed that user error was the problem. I admit that I was as guilty as anyone of overlooking the (perhaps too) obvious problem, but, and I say this with the utmost love and respect: in the future, try to remember me, and my story when someone comes on here dissatisfied with their unit. Rather than automatically pointing the blame at the individual, try to work through their issues with them.

Salutations PoisonousHydra,

...around 0:47. If you turn up your speakers...

Even after i downloaded the .MP4 record to play it back at ~180 % i'm still unable to decide what i hear through earphones but there was some artificial humming sound i believe, yes... But that could have been from electrostatic coupling with surrounding electronics, whatever.

Contaminants in the heat-exchanger would have been bad news while i guess the HA isn't the tank everyone wishes it were or vibrations wouldn't escape at all, but i have my doubts relatively to noise as sufficient justification for a merchandise return anyway, though it's also possible i got an incomplete understanding of your particular situation.

He stated he has been having the same problems since the unit was brand new.
If it is indeed broken it was clearly a defective unit that got past quality control.
I don't see how this correlates to lack of durability in properly functioning HA's.

Based on this and previous posts in other threads you seem to be dead set on sharing your opinion that the HA isn't as tough as claimed, but there are many HA's up to and over 10 years old still functioning properly.
It is very rare to hear about a faulty HA unit, even those that are daily driven and generally abused.
If I remember correctly yours was still perfectly functional when you decided to tear it apart.

Salutations MG23,

...lack of durability...

Hummm... I consider that "lack of durability" evokes something degrading with time, on another hand the mechanical weakness from 2 plastic posts has more to do with an amount of tolerance to abuse: instead of degradation it breaks.

So, i'm not even questioning durability during normal use. No, actually with a heat-exchanger built like that very little else can fail! But please, just don't play yoyo with it if you can avoid it...

I am determined to offer the reader honnest feedback from a former HA v2.1 owner relatively to the "Built Like a Tank" slogan. My views on the subject have been explained, i even mentioned a probable remedy to the fact that the transformer pulls on the PC Board when an HerbalAire falls down, because of the way mass was distributed inside.

I disassembled my v2.1 a few times and came to think its heat-exchanger feels more impressive than the unit's external casing, also i'd wish integration of the A.C. power transformer were improved i shall add!

Lets be clear about it, personally i'd much prefer a casing which secures a transformer that is holding the PC Board in this particular case, because component weight generates mechanical stress during a fall or when hit. Sure it can take a lot, the heat-exchanger perhaps even better, but my point is that it could take more gravitational punishment if this PC Board weren't pretending to support a power transformer...

You object that there are few returns and i would expect even less as a result of the lighter transformer which was selected in v2.2, euh... But anyway, what i'm saying is that this "tank" still has its weak spots exposed while i'm sure we both wish the HA to be an even sturdier tank someday.

My point was that bringing durability into question here was completely irrelevant to the conversation
The problems this person is having have been present since first use; durability has nothing to do with it.
Repeating your thoughts about the HerbalAire's theoretical weak points in the face of mass blunt trauma was unwarranted.

Yes, the "Built Like a Tank" slogan is completely irrelevant here with me around and everytime i see it pop up again you can think of me in background, deciding if i should repeat what i just posted... Again, again and again!

You disagreeing with something doesn't make it irrelevant; seems a bit self-important of you to believe that.
One person's opinion doesn't nearly disqualify a decade of evidence pointing the opposite direction.

Your statements about physical durability were irrelevant to the conversation because they were off-topic.

Though, since you've already changed the topic:

When we use the term "tank" we aren't literally referring to a tool capable of withstanding war; just high comparative durability.
Theoretical presumptions of physical weak points aside; based on current vaporizer standards I believe the HA has been proven to withstand enough use and abuse to more than qualify as being "built like a tank."

I find it fascinatingly ironic that the only person who told me they doubted I had sufficient justification to return the vapourizer is the very same person who then found a convenient way to turn it into a segue into how HerbalAire products aren't durable. It seems like you would rather I just not deal with the company altogether, and to me, that seems extremely biased.

Hello to all my fellow HA Fans :rockon::tup:. I have not been very active in the forum as of late, & I have been spending less time on FC in general for over a year. I wish I could spend more time here, but there are SO many threads 'to keep up with' .. I quickly become consumed with staying current & then inevitably overwhelmed once I fall behind.

Anyways, sorry for the OFF-TOPIC rant. It has been said many times in various areas on this forum, but I shall say it again: there is no BEST vaporizer (yet?). Personal preference, budget, type of meds (concentrates or flowers), & countless other factors make it difficult to truly claim one unit exceeds in all areas equally.

I can't claim the HA provides the best vapor quality, when combined with top-shelf flowers. Especially when compared to my Log-Vapes (The Heat Island ). However, the HA's grind-less nature is sometimes EXACTLY what I need from a vaporizer. While not living in a kind state, one is forced to acquire their meds from less reliable sources. These sources do not always have the high-quality products I desire. Thanks to the HA 2.2 I can vape full nugs without any problem, no matter the quality: super-sticky/moist/harvested-early/etc. (aka - less than optimal condition). That type of condition is where my herbie shines! :science:

Hey everyone, I've been reading this forum for a couple of days now while I researched a vaporizer to purchase. I pulled the trigger (easily due to lots of positive input on this forum) and finally got the unit today.

After just inspecting it, I have some concerns. First, my stock pump is missing the switch, and actually has a huge gap of one "cable" of the power cord. I think it's where the switch would be...I've already emailed them about obtaining a replacement.

Second, how do I pack this "glass adapter" without using the crucible? Where does the filling go?! The adapter itself looks too small...do I just place it in the chamber?

Third, does anyone know how well the customer service is for the unit? I emailed using the website once before with a question and never got an answer. I tried straight emailing from my email this time.

Congratulations on your purchase! Just for my curiousity, did you go with the 2.2, or the Elite? I am sure you will be pleased either way. That bit about the pump is a little scary: it sounds like you are probably missing not only the switch, but also the housing which is supposed to be around the switch, as there would indeed be a bare wire under that.
Third, does anyone know how well the customer service is for the unit?
I asked this about a week ago, and never got an answer: I honestly don't think anyone has much experience with them.
Has anyone had any experience with their customer service? Do they even have, or need such a thing?

Thanks! I went with the 2.2 because as others have reasoned, I figured less digital meant less things to break.

I still have no clue how to pack the glass adapter piece properly. I guess I'm just hesitant to clog up the chamber with "filling" sans crucible till I know the proper way.

I decided I'll be calling them today. Though I'm disappointed my pump is faulty, I did just order a High Output kit from Amazon for an upcoming get together (and a zephyr ion mouthpiece) I'm more concerned about customer service as you said, and whether my main unit used o_O. I will say that I have used their website to submit questions twice and never received a response.

Does anyone have bookmarks of essential HerbalAire thread pages and valuable knowledge? I mean those pages with instructions as to how to modify to an all glass attachment, etc. I'm looking to read up on essential/useful HA knowledge/guides/mods.

Thanks for the help everyone, this community is such a valuable resource for vape noobs as myself.

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/herbalaire.276/page-48 <--- Starting around 48 and going until at least 51 or so are some pretty specific usage examples involving all sorts of glass.

Thanks! Much appreciate the help. I just called the number from the HerbalAire website... rang forever AND it seems to be a regular answering machine...shared by like 3 other companies or something. Admittedly I did call a bit early in the morning.

Almost thought I had the wrong number till they listed HerbalAire at the end... I will try calling again later, I'd rather speak to a person than leave a message.

Lords, you're scaring me now, as I have to return my unit, just as soon as I get Da Buddha in the mail! At least it's in the same city as me, after what feels like forever. I just hope I get it today, since it's a long weekend, so it would be nice to have, not to mention Monday being a holiday means no post :(...

DelitaHeiral:

I have found that HA has excellent customer service in any dealings that I have had in the six years that I have used my HA as my daily driver.

Keep in mind that they are located in western Canada (near Calgary, Alberta), so that they are in a different time zone than most of us. I have had success speaking to someone there directly, when I call them around 10am, their time.

In your case, once they are aware of your problem, I'm sure that they will make it right, and probably send you some extra pieces for your trouble. If you have any problems on a response, let us know in here, and I will contact them on your behalf, if necessary.

Thanks for the reassurance, it is much appreciated. I'm not "too" worried...I just chalk it up to bad luck haha, and yes I did figure that it was probably too early to call them. I was growing concerned because they haven't returned my emails, but it is good to know that they have great customer service.
