Man the bent glass stem has been a game changer for me! I started with the straight but i sucked up a bunch of abv and switched to the wood stem. I love it and it works but it does not give the session that the bent glass is giving me now. Huge clouds that I never saw before.

I think I will get the same results from the straight. I need to clean the glass out of the holes though. The four holes are gooberd up with glass. The air flow is pretty restricted. More testing is required! :whoa:

Glass or grass? ;)

I basically fixed my "putting stuff through" issue with extra fine screens. Hardly anything ever goes through, I think more stuff goes in through the mouthpiece end than through the screen.

Hmmm, you sure there Q?...lol.
Kinda reminds me of an argument I had with a chap that lived by the airport and tried to tell me more planes landed than would take off.
Still insisted he was right even after I asked where they stored the extra...:uhh:
Unless your another one who stuffs the wrong end...

Not to second guess yourself, the PA no longer runs new units (only charges them like the supplied charger) anyway......
???????????????????????????
I thought we had determined that the PA actually does still work as a true PA on the new units!!
According to Arizer, the newer Solos will work in PA mode if the battery is charged up.
I found if the heat level is set immediately after initialization the charge mode will not start.
I believe Poonman had the same results.

Just read that this thing takes 4 hours to charge for the first time. Damn. I should have got the power adapter that lets you use it plugged in.
Patient!

Update: I have a friend I've known for a long time.
He has always burned bowls and zig zags!
Today we shared a SOLO stem with a CHILLUM tip dry.

Since he is a virgin to vaporizing I set the SOLO to level 6!
F^CK!
He loved it!
Know I need to fit a CHILLUM and a SOLO STEM & shop for a new SOLO and basically set it up for him.
I made a convert!
Know I just created work for myself!

He's a 25 grams/wk of top shelf consumer now.
Think how much less his consumption will be.
He knows I like simple no frills.
Someone who wants to have what I have?

Tomorrow it's SOLO shopping.

The SOLO is simple and it taste better than a joint!
Level 6 just wiped me out!
That was a deep sleep for the afternoon!
Back to level 4!
Resume SOLO mode!

Sorry, I meant... compared to my two XF screens sitting in the bowl, the only way for stuff to really get through is through the part with no screens in it (the mouthpiece end).

Stuffing the wrong end? Depends who you're asking :brow:

I once worked in a tall building. We decided in the morning elevators were being disassembled and stored somewhere in the basement. Going up took for ever. All the cars were going down. In the evening, of course, they all were going up, getting one going down was rare indeed.

So we checked, they weren't being stored on the roof. Obviously helicopters.

I thought we had determined that the PA actually does still work as a true PA on the new units!!

Actually I think we decided that was not the case, the old PA is simply a charger on new Solos. To get it to work in (old style) PA mode you have to remove the battery.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong (again), but IMO that's a very important detail?

Yes, we did discuss this and no definitive conclusion on what is happening when the battery is fully charged.
Arizer has stated two different statements in this regard. IMO, in theory and some supported evidence leans toward the unit works with old PA when battery is detected as not needing a charge. Which would be the case in removing it. Or am I wrong with this point? In other words, no battery would appear as full battery as far as the CPU is concerned.
Anyway, the benefit would only hold while battery appears full. So realistically, IMO, more trouble than benefit. Nice to know it can always be used in case your battery goes tits up.

Hey solo-ers,

Im looking to buy a PVHE GonG and Stem, and was wondering if it is worth purchasing the turbo versions or not? Does turbo make a significant difference at all? Anyone used both varieties?

cheers

I guess we really need more feedback from members who own both a PA and the newer model solo. I was able to keep the charge function from coming on even at lower battery levels if the power level is set before the green charge light starts flashing. Pipes, I daresay you could benefit by knowing the answer to this!

Test 1: Battery Level 4
Plugged in 8.5V 5.65A Power Adapter
Let it initialize.
Set power to level 7
Just let it heat(red light flashing for 12 minutes).
The green light stayed off until heater timed out at 12 minutes.

Test2: Battery Level 4
Plugged in 8.5V 5.65A Power Adapter
Let it initialize.
Set power to level 6
Just let it heat(red light flashing for 12 minutes)
The green light stayed off until heater timed out at 12 minutes.

Test3: Battery Level 3
Plugged in 8.5V 5.65A Power Adapter
Let it initialize.
Set power to level 5
Just let it heat(expected it to time out at 12 minutes)
But, the green light came on after 3 minutes.

Since it's basically programming, I think you got a smarter unit?
Agree, need more folks confirming this. Some current consumption information from external supply while heater is on would tell how much power is used to assist or take over for the heater.
When your heater light stops flashing after reaching temperature is there any other light activity?

No other activity besides the light level.
In my last post, a drop to charge level 3(three lights) seemed to kick in the charging cycle. More testing needed to verify.
Does anyone else get the same results with a newer model Solo?

Hello,

What's the best way to inhale from the arizer solo. Is it better to take a short hard draw or a long (10 seconds) draw.
Because yesterday we did a session of two bowls with 5 persons and I didn't get the good result. Maybe I the way of taking draws was not good.
Or is 2 two bowls with 5 persons not so much to get a good result?
Thanks

IMO 2 bowls will not be good for 5 people
10 seconds long?
I do slow long like 30 seconds draws
If you can fett the restriction from the solo you are pulling to hard

Try a bowl to your self on 7 with a slow draw see how you fell after that

Hello,

So the best way to take the hits is:
Take very long but easy draws. Not like you're drinking a milkshake but like a cocacola.
So you don't have to feel like it's very hard to take a hit. Because than you are sucking to hard :D

Is it correct?

What is the best:
Heating the unit and put the herbs later or heat it up with the herbs inside?

Tahnks

I turn the heat to my level (4) you might like 6 to start?
When the lights are on level 2 I insert the stem loosely packed.
At level 3 I begin to draw.

Find your zone!

Oh man. I feel like such a stoner. Went to bed last night without using my new Solo. Somewhere I got the idea that the green charge LED would go dark when it was done. LOL

Anyway, since I took the day off today (and my son woke the whole house up early) it was time for a wake and bake. (I did run a full cycle first, set at 7 also)

First hit off the Solo set at 6 was awesome. So clean and smooth. Kinda dry though. I can see why people like to attach these to bubbler or bong. I will definitely have to get one of those very soon.

I used the elbow glass stem with no screen. The free grinder from puffitup.com seems to put out the perfect medium ground herb so that one is not needed. I can see that Randy put a lot of thought into pairing those two together. Nice.

I like dry however wet is very smooth!
Regardless of the vaporizer some prefer water path.

This cheap D020 was $22.
@OF likes the $40 bubbler from Pipe Daddy's.

http://www.pipesdaddy.com/product-p/vp-0022.htm

There both good bubbler's.
Whatever you can afford I guess?
I really like the PHVES STEM with a fitted chillum on the tip.

Even the stock stems are cool plain.

The great thing about the SOLO is you just find what works for you!

What works for me while using the stock stems to keep the harshness and bitterness away is use your Solo upside down so your herb doesn't fall down into the heater cup. This is how I've been rocking my old Solo for the past year and it keeps me happy and bitter-free!

My Solo taught me how to use my HI...slow & easy
My HI taught me how to use my Solo...upside down
It's a symbiotic relationship!

My best way is pumping with my mouth instead of my lungs. Like you would with a cigarette, but many times. 1st, a few pumps because the clouds are big anw. Many (20+) to kill the bowl in the end. I feel I can handle bigger clouds and higher temps this way compared to long/slow draw in equilibrium with the solo's natural airflow.

Not sure what the "best" way to take hits is, but for heating the unit, I like to pack my stem first, place it in the Solo, and THEN select temperature. I let it sit for about 10-15 seconds after it reaches temperature before I begin taking a hit.

2 stems between 5 people... that's around .2-.25 grams? Vaporizing is good but not that good

I'm too lazy for that, so I load my stem and then throw a screen on top of it so nothing touches the heater :D
