Cool, just figured I'd make sure about the turning it carefully.. sometimes it's easy to zoom past a particular voltage. Anywho, if you decide you want more juice just let me know and I'll take care of it for you.

All in all how are you enjoying the VVPSs so far? We've had a couple bumps in the road with little things like the output range but not to bad I think for a brand new product that we're still dialing in and refining as we go.

Ok here are my thoughts....

For the money these are great. I like the design, they are convenient, etc.

However there are a few points that need to be addressed (IMO)....

1. The inputs are not industry standard for what you'd expect. I know this is to reduce cost, but I would rather pay more and not need an adapter or custom power cube that could potentially kill my gear if mis-assembled.

2. The outputs. Same issues here. I would like not to need an adapter for the desktop (male to male cable if nothing else), and we need a better cable out on the mini, not a fixed output....think replaceable. Again the adapter like bulk in the cable where it connects bugs me.

3. An on/off switch for the travel unit would be great. Having to control it via a battery pack switch is unsettling. I would also like to see a higher adjustment screw. Poking into the case seems unsafe to me, especially if you slip!

4. I do not like the power supply. Again I know... Cost. Yet again I'd rather pay more and have it be replaceable with what I have on hand.

Ok that's it so far. Hope I wasn't too critical. Keep in mind I am comparing against custom designed units, so don't hate me!

Lol

Overall I would absolutely buy them again at this price. My main issues are not what your casual user would experience.....I/e the cables and adapters for battery packs.

Overall a great value!

=)

EDIT.... I really like power control on the Desktop unit.....It's just so simple, and I really dig the on/off in the control knob. IDK why exactly, maybe because i got used to switches, but its handy for a non traveling Desktop unit.

Thanks for the feedback Sleepin, not too critical at all.

All the points you bring up are good ones and we looked at many of them during R&D and testing but for various reasons ended up lacking many of them on the current designs. I'll try to keep my response short but also address some of them for those of you who like the inside scoop.

  1. Yeah, this one is about cost - the wall-wart I'm including with the VVPS was just too good a value (and is a good, solid power supply) to pass up but requires a 2.5mm jack vs the more common 2.1mm. It also has too high an output voltage (17v) to be used directly with the vapes which is a bummer. We might well change to a different power supply once we run out of these but I'm not looking forward to the $10-$15 price difference it would bring.

  2. Outputs is a tough one. I'd like it if the Travel VVPS had an output jack instead of the current permanently attached pigtail but there isn't room in the box unless we went with side-by-side jacks on the back instead of input on the back and output on the front like the current design. Not sure why but I really don't care for the output on the back, it bugs the crap out of me for some reason. Then again I'm not the customer, you guys are so maybe we'll switch if people want us to. As far as the type of output goes (on the Desktop) and it's need for an male-to-male adapter - if I could find a panel mount, male plug instead I'd consider using it but I've never come across one.. do they exist? A male-to-male cable would be nice and work instead but they don't seem to be readibly available in a variety of sizes like the male-female extensions we use and I really don't care for shop-made cables when they can be avoided.

  3. An on/off switch on the Travel VVPS might be doable if we could find a small enough one but so far I haven't. That tiny box is a PITA to deal with in this regard but it's sooo small that I couldn't help but make it lol. A switch on the Desktop VVPS would be easily doable other than adding a bit of cost on materials and labor, maybe we'll revise the design to include one. Using the knob to 'turn off' the Desktop doesn't actually really de-energize the circuit but drops the output to about .5v and blanks the screen. Not really 'off' per se but kind of a 'sleep' setting for lack of a better word I guess.
I suppose the crux of things is that I'm trying to include these things with the vapes without jacking the price up which unfortunately means that every one that goes out the door actually costs me money instead of making money. If people choose the option to upgrade to the Desktop VVPS (not the option for both, just the Desktop) I break even but either of the other two options I take a loss. Because of that I've optimized the design, as best as possible, to get the best value for the money - not necessary the best overall design. :\

Granted we could make the design a bit better and sell the VVPS instead of include the basic Travel one. Problem with that though is that we make everything and I mean everything, in-house, by hand, ourselves and that really takes a lot of time. So I could make a better VVPS for sale but it would take time away that I usually spend making Dogs and so would be a bit of a toss up.

I'm sure we'll refine the design over time and do our best to give you guys all the best experience we can as usual. Just a matter of how much time, money and energy we have lol.

At any rate we really appreciate all the great feedback you guys are always giving us, it really helps us evolve the Pups over time. We also really enjoy being able to spend our days making these vapes for everyone and seeing/hearing how much everyone enjoys using them!

Rock on Dogs, rock on.

I noticed an issue, but it may be nothing and just be me being stupid. After doing about a nylon stem, I think my UD loses heat and can't produce physical vapor for a second one? I'll do more looking into it tomorrow. It's late and it may just be too dark to see the vapor?

EDIT: I tried this again with the light on this time. I feel like me drawing in cools it down too much? I draw slowly but not really slow. There's definitely a decrease in visible vapor & what looks like greener abv (my herbs a little on the darker side anyway so it's hard to tell.

What voltage are you running at and with how long a heat up time?

I'm running at 12.8. With a half hour heat up (it's a twig). I did a little today and it seemed normal. Maybe I was too tired or high & didn't leave in plugged in long enough last night? When I get my bubbler I'll be able to tell if it's fine or not :)

otherwise, besides that it's been wonderful! I love the nylon stems. I ordered 3 NonG and a few essential oils yesterday. I can't wait to use a bubbler with it! I love just looking at my dog, you're really an artist!

Ah, ok, it's possible you could have benefited from a little higher voltage or a little longer heat up time to fully bring the steel and wood up to temp.

If after more experimentation you find it's still doing that you can always send it in and we'll figure it out for you.. it's not all that common but possible the heating element is a little out of spec or something similar.

Glad you're otherwise enjoying the Pup!

This is exactly why I picked you guys for my first home vape. Your customer service is definitely the best in the vape market!

It probably was just me, I'll try to let it heat up at least 30-35 minutes. Maybe last night I was just doing the suggested 20

i'm sitting here trying to think of ways that the underdog could be improved...and i'm coming up blank. even if there are imperfections,

like the blemish on the skin of an apple,
or the birthmark on my right thigh,
imperfection is the way-
wabi-sabi.

@Zac2354 during use it is possible to barely pop the cord out of the underdog. It will still appear to be connected to the eye, but can lose power. If you are using a VVPS w/o an ammeter to monitor draw, then your best bet is to push it in when you set it down to ensure a proper connection.

This is not too common but can happen during the constant up and down during use.

Thanks! That's probably what it was :) she's working 100% so far, haven't seen that issue anymore. Been waiting 30 minutes for heat up & realized I get better hits if I pack it instead of it being somewhat loose

has anyone else noticed an occasional popping noise when taking a draw with the UD? someone mentioned it in another thread about a different device, just curious if others have experienced this.

I generally keep my pup on 24/7, but this morning it was cold. :uhoh: I noticed the last few days the heat coming on and off and now it won't heat at all. I'm thinking it may be the wallwart, but not sure.

Any time I've had real sticky buds they make popping noises in the UD and pretty much only in the UD, at first I thought it was the silicone stem but found it does the same with the all glass stem I use too.

I take it as a sign that my man came through with choice bud.

It's bits and pieces of your material popping, I like to think of it as an auditory indication that your Dog is running at a good hot temp and is ready for business. Take some hits with an empty stem and you'll find there is no popping..

Yeah those are the exact symptoms of a dead/dying wall-wart for sure.. :(
