Hello and good morning everyone, I have been spinning the hell outa Solo Stems for my website. I have a bunch of Bog Oak, Blackwood, and Cocobolo turned waiting to have the bushings installed. I should have them available through my site by friday or saturday at the latest. I appreciate everyone for hanging in there with me, I know you all have been waiting on them for a while now, I appreciate your patients! Its Mrs. Ed's birthday friday, she is gonna be a whole year older than she thought she was. I had to bust her bubble a couple weeks ago, she had been thinking she was a year younger than she actually is. I had to break the news to her and she was not happy. Well we are going out for dinner at a new restaurant tonight to celebrate. We havent been out alone in quite some time, it will be well deserved! Then it will be back to the shop doing custom orders for special requests that have come in this week. I look to get these out Monday if all goes well.

@Vicki & @FlyingLow I appreciate the PM's and have responded back, will be on the look out for yalls reply.

@Mr. Gweilo 420 Wongs for the Nano will be available in the next couple weeks or so, maybe earlier but cant say for sure. The Nano wongs will most likely be 2 - 2 1/2" in length with maybe a ring in it to add a little character. The pics that have been shown of the Nano wong with the inlay is gonna be a special piece that will be available as custom orders. If you want something out of the ordinary pls let me know.

@as Thats a great suggestion, @Snappo does have some really nice burls and various other figured species that you may wanna check out. I sent you a couple pics of some burl I dug up around the shop in the PM I sent to ya. Holla back at me and lets talk more about it.

I wish you all the best out there and thank you for your enthusiasm for my work!

I'm not aesthetically astute enough to adequately articulate all the appealing aspects of my new stem.
All I can say is it's really fine and I'm glad it's mine.
Came right away
Just as Ed did say
He's no snail
You just gotta wait for the mail
Gonna put this baby to the test
Thanks, Ed. Your the best.

I'm excited I received my black wood wong today, absolutely stunning looking a very beautiful piece to add to my collection. The turquoise sets it off perfectly and best of all has a wonderful vapor flavor with my Solo. This will be perfect for a mouthpiece or to use as a Wong. I just love it!

Also received the 14 mm mouthpiece made with the cocobollo wood for the Ascent, it too is made to perfection, and looks beautiful. I tried out the Ascent with the new wooden piece and it had that nice earthy vapor taste.

Both pieces are made with precision and care, the fit to the units are perfect. It adds to the durability and the look of my favorite vaporizers.

Ed, you are a very talented guy who has a great gift. Thank you for sharing that gift with others. It's wonderful that you found a career you truly enjoy.

Wishing you success and happiness. I will take pictures tomorrow to post on both threads. It's tricky taking pictures and posting with the iPad, but I think I have it down now.

Good afternoon everyone, I hope all is well out there! I had hoped to stop by and follow up on the posts and questions but its been a really busy couple of days. I have been on green since Wednesday midnight and havent seen the final lap yet. The wife and I had a great date the other night. We ate at Georgia Blues, its a really nice restaurant with a great atmosphere. They have live music and awesome food. I had a one of the best steak meals I have had out in a long long time. I mean I cook a freaking mean steak, I like a rib-eye, will soak it for a couple of hour in Dales marinate on the counter at room temperature with a some extra seasoning and cook it medium rare. I had a 16oz rib-eye with grilled shrimp on top with a cajun crawfish cream sauce covering all that, it was the shit! We had a great night, spent some quality time away from the kids and really enjoyed each other, we needed that! My 10 year old had his 5th grade awards program last night. He got six awards, 3 for the highest average in mathematics, science, and language arts! He has a smart head on his shoulders and we are so proud of him, we are so blessed! To think of how I came up, you couldnt tell me shit, I knew it all and had to learn it the hard way. If I woulda just listened to those who tried to tell me right from wrong I wouldnt have had it so tough coming up. But thats life right, we live and we learn. I keep telling my sons to pls listen and pay attention, I only want better for you than I had it, think before you do, and always look a man in the eye show respect and you get respect, life is what you make of it.

@RUDE BOY You're right bro, my birthdays last a week now, I feel like I am running out of them so I make them last as long as I can. The wife is tired of hearing its my Bday after day two. Hell I hope I got 30 more in me!

@Reflections Wow that was fast! I am so glad you like it, it was fun to make, it matches your Nano well. I appreciate you posting the video, you were blowing hella clouds. keep puffing and do what you do! As far as cleaning goes, first off you will never ever soak or submerge it in liquid, thats a no no. All my stems are coming with an internal retaining clip over the screen so it will never fall out. I have been looking for a while here and there to find a tool that would remove the clip and think I may have found just the right thing. I am gonna get a few and offer them at the website. The clips have an eyelet at the end of each end, in a normal use you would use an internal retaining clip pliers to remove it, but being that its placed down into the bushing its a little tricky to get out. I remove the clip by using the pointed end of a compass like the one you used in school as a kid. I poke the point into one of the eyelets and apply pressure by pushing it sideways and lift up. Once it is lifted slightly you can lift the clip up the rest of the way and take it out. Then swap out the screen. Once the screen has been replaced mash the clip together at the ends and push it down into the bushing. I use a round dowel rod to seat the clip back in the bushing. You can use anything will a dull end to push down on the clip maybe the eraser end of a pencil or something similar. For cleaning out the inside of the stem, you can dip a cotton swan in ISO, squeeze out the excess, then swab the inside of the stem. Let it dry and you are good to go.

@Seren I appreciate the kind words and thank you for the post!

@LetsAllMeltDownTogether The SS bushings should be clean and ready for use unless one got by me. They are sneaky and great at flying under the radar, I do my best to square up each and every one.

@rayski Very nice rhyme bro, I appreciate you laying it down like that! Hope you were able to put it to work and would like to know how it performed for ya. Pls do let me know!

@FlyingLow It hasnt been good for the Amboyna, had a bad night Thursday and trashed all but one piece of Amboyna. I was really taking my time with it while turning, its very dense and beautiful but very volatile also, I'd have it turned to size hitting it with sand paper to slick it out then finish it off by putting the steel wool on it. I turned off the lathe to admire it, spin it round by hand and oh there's a freaking crack! That happened a couple times, a couple other times a chunk would tear out and then its useless. Another time there was a bad spot close to the center that wasnt visible from the outside. I was down to my last piece and it just happened to turn out. It wasnt as rich in red but did had a rosy tone with a few eyes. I buffed it on the wheel to get a good look at it and damn she was pretty. I installed the bushing and was hammering in the pin when a whack of the hammer on the pin broke the damn thing in two pieces at the bushing! My mouth dropped and I yelled F***! I am so sorry, I dont have anymore to spin and at this point I dont want to either. You are gonna have to pick another flavor.

@CarolKing Am glad to hear the pieces made it to you and that you are happy with em. I know you mentioned wanting a solo stem from me a while back, glad you finally got one. Also like to hear your enjoying the 14mm ascent stem, its cool it can be used both ways as a mouth piece and a water pipe adapter. You are right both pieces were made with care. I have to take my time with the blackwood wong, the bands and little detail edges have to be done carefully or the chisel will get away from ya and scar the wood all to hell then its trashed. The turquoise takes some time also. I have to apply a non-toxic adhesive, fill the trench with large pieces, let dry, sand smooth, apply a little more adhesive in the small voids that were left between the larger pieces, then fill and pack with a smaller finer sand like turquoise. Usually then all I have to do is sand it smooth one last time and the inlay is done. I hit it with a really high grit sand paper to get that sleek feel to it and its done. Its true, I really enjoy working wood, I have an itch for a new idea that needs scratching! Just took my kids to school and picked up some parts to turn this idea into reality. I have a great feeling about it and cant wait to show you all what I have been cooking. Thanks for wishing me much success, I already have happiness, that comes from you alls enjoyment and appreciation for my work. That and my family is happiness! Success for me is to keep doing what I love and continuing to reach out to others by sharing Mother Natures treasures.

@beach bum How you been my lady? Its been a long time, I hope all is well. I have thought about ya from time to time hoping to hear from ya at some point. I am glad you stopped by to say hello, your posting put a smile on my face, thank you! I hope you are still enjoying all the wood stems. Also hope you got a chance to see what all I have been up to lately. Big things are happening here at Ed's TnT, I am doing alot of new stuff and am learning new ways to shine. I am really enjoying this first half of 2014 and do so look forward to the second half. I have alot going on that I havent mentioned to anyone yet, had stuff simmering on the back burner for a while now its time to move it to the front and prepare for brighter days. I am really hoping to clear a couple hurdles and kick this biz into high gear. Hang in there with me, better dayz are ahead! Thanks again for stopping by, its really good to hear from you and I wish you all the best!

Ed, I do drop by from time to time but rarely log in to comment. Just seems like there aren't enough hours in the day sometimes, so I'll keep lurking! However, life is good and I've been watching the wood "porn" you've been putting up - some really sweet stuff. I'll be excited to see you kick it into high gear, as your talent has impressed me for years. Am anxious to see what new project you have going this time. :)

And my wood stems are still beauties! I pull out the custom Bog Oak number and just "feel" it from time to time. Crazy to think I am holding that much history in my hand. Helps put things into perspective, that's for certain! We are still addicted to your Blackberry Sage scent...that stuff makes everything smell yummy, and helps keep the wood conditioned and looking great.

Best of luck and I'll try not to be such a stranger. Oh...and any chance you'll share the recipe for the Cajun crème sauce you put on top of your ribeye? We love good steaks and use Dale's too!

Hey, Ed. Just out of curiosity, what percentage of your business is now coming from the vapor accessories vs. your combustion products?

I love seeing all the great new stuff you come up with. Keep up the good work, my friend! We need more Ed's in this world.

:peace:
