Oil refine

On making my oil and do my first weight and then when I further refine it by slowly boiling out the excess alcohol is it natural in losing weight and how much is expected to lose with let's say two ounces of oil?

I don't know if I understand your question correctly if your evaporating ethanol you will obviously lose the weight of the solvent as it evaporates. Are you winterizing 2 ounces of crappy oil? If so, then yes you will lose the weight of the plant waxes caught in the filter but your oil will be more potent gram for gram. How much depends on the oil itself but possibly 5-10% weight loss, maybe more depending on starting purity.

Or are you making QWET hash?

I do not know To do a quick 45 second wash which gets out 80% of the THC from my pound of weed with 4 gallons of acetone and I just want to know if I have to boil it down more after doing the initial rice cooker boil down and how much acetone is left in it and how long I have to boil it down do I have to do it until there's absolutely no bubbles even the very minute miniscule bubbles that I often see when I'm trying to boil it down and I'm using a product called GCG Green crack God's bud

I haven't used acteone before but with a boiling point of 132* and 4 gallons of solvent used to wash it's going to take a while I imagine. Are using a vacuum to help purge? If you plan on doing runs this large I would highly suggest it.

Bubbles in your oil could be solvent evaporating but if the temp is too high it could be flavorful terpenes. Slow and steady wins the race when your using solvents with higher boiling points. Why acetone for your solvent instead of butane or ethanol?

i'd say it's dependant on the amount of residual (alcohol) solvent that remains in the solution.

could be a few grams, could be more, or even less. I recently did this myself and i reduced 8.5 g's down to 8.

It only took four hours to cook down it has in a rice cooker and it is for medicinal purposes for cancer and it has such a lower boiling point than isopropanol and I find it to be cost affective. So I have done a slow cook off with a coffee cup warmer u had to watch it so the temp don't go over 165 degree centigrade to not burn the canabanoids away. The first boil off was with a rice cooker then used the coffee warmer to finish it off I have invested over 6 hours in the final process but still not completed the taste is not the same as bho but have been told it is as potent of a smoke from friends and I started with 2 oz of oil now I am down to 1.8 oz after putting the work into it it is the same process as making Phoenix tears by.rick simpson

Ahhhhh your making Rick Simpson oil makes more sense as to your choice of solvent. It's not going to taste the same as other extractions because of the high temps used during your purge. Personally i would shoot for fa temp more like 105 c that should give you plenty of heat to purge residual solvent and give you a slow decarb for your RS oil. With the higher temperatures you have reached you may be pretty much purged and ready to go but I don't know from here :) . The bubbling you saw at the higher temperatures could be many things but is at least partly due to your oil going through the decarboxylation.

If you haven't checked it out this a great resource for oil refining, holistic cannabis medicines, decarb time/temps and more
