MiniVAP Vaporizer

Just ordered on the European site. The price does seem very high compared to the US site but since i am in the EU and shipping is free its still should be cheaper. Stuff gets expensive when you have to pay import duties from the US and shipping can also be ridiculous. I was looking at the Indica vape which costs 200 bucks but they wanted 100 for shipping!

Anyway looking forward to my new vape and converting my wife! Would be great to get tobacco out of the house and keep us both much healthier without having to give up our hobby.

Thanks to everyone on the forum for all the information which has helped me make a (hopefully) well informed decision.

You will love it, good choice.
I've only used mine a couple times, still getting used to it.
I place a tiny amount of herb in the little wire basket which
attaches to the top. Since it is not a big load/ packed in,
it remains loose and when I draw a little too hard, I get some
tiny herb pieces thru the mouthpiece.
I either need to never draw too hard or maybe place a tiny
screen on top of the herb to hold it down....
Anyone else have this issue?

Yes- you definitely need a screen on top. Btw, I never use the basket, just load straight it. Just clean out after each load and it stays pretty clean. Sometimes a qtip with iSO is needed for the inside and you need to soak the screens, but not that often.

Thanks , I'll experiment a little. Maybe part of me was thinking about the chamber in my crappy vape pen, where it really combusts and the chamber gets filthy/dark.

However, I do like the little wire basket as any small particles have to escape it AND get thru the main chamber screen to get into the "innards" of the device.

With the little basket, the herb seems to never get dark brown, maybe a med brown. Even on red/high temp. It is farther away from the heat source. I might try vaping with basket and then dump that into main chamber to see if it then gets darker.
Anyone have pics of how brown their ABV gets?

MinnBobber,
I too had terrible issues getting through to them. Beware I was, for want of a better word, stalking them as i had spent £456 on a unit and they weren't answering their phone. On the website they have a wrong number posted and i must have made 30-40 phonecalls to this number who kept hanging up. These poor souls were tormented the whole day by my nusiance calls. I was told this morning the number prefixed with 6 on their website is indeed wrong. So why not correct it!!!

I know this is a fledgling company however when paying top dollar you expect a platimun service, once i eventually got through the service was fine.

The correct mobile number if anyone needs it is +34635215150

My gold vape is being despatched today after my phonecall. But i wonder how long it would have taken without me having to chase them

Jorge invest in your customer service or you won't have a business you can be proud of.

I ordered a MiniVap last Saturday and the status stayed on procesessing. I emailed them yesterday and got no reply so I emailed again today. This time I got a prompt and very correct reply from Alfredo saying my MiniVap would be shipped today or tomorrow.

You need to remenber that it's a very small company, you can't expect a fast customer service as bigger companies but if you are a little bit patient (are you?) they give you all the help that you need!

I hope mods take off the phone number, if they don't communicate it perhaps it's a private phone....

I always contacted them by e-mail and sometime the answer is long to come but they give you answer be sure!

miniVAP ABV ??
How dark does your spent herb (ABV) get?
Even on red (high temp) mine still retains some light green color.
It does get very crispy/dry to the touch.
Anyone have a good close up shot of miniVAP ABV to share?
Thanks

I can get mine a dark chocolate brown ... and I usually go for a light to medium brown (although fully browned) on a green setting ... maybe something wrong with your packing? Maybe getting too much air?

Are you using the silicone cones or the Teflon one?

I prefer the personal touch myself. The number I posted is the correct one to contact them on, if the one prefixed with 9 isn't answering. it's not private, the one on their website is a private & wrong number. I appeciate it's a new company and that's why I gave them a second chance to get things right and they did. My minivap is in transit. Hopefully they will address the slow response times and improve overall customer satisfaction levels.

Thank you JCat. I use the white silicone piece that goes thru the cover , where the little wire basket hangs from it/ snaps into it.
I need very little herb so place a tiny amount in the basket .
Then vape at pink---nice light citrus taste. Then green--fuller taste. Then red -- .

Could too mush air be the problem? I draw slooow and looong. Does the hot air move thru the loose / small amount of herb too freely/easily where it then doesn't heat up enough??
Anybody else vape small amounts and get deeper brown ABV?

On red, taking many hits, the herb is still only very light brown with even some light pale green showing.
I'd even say it's more tan than light brown.

Does anyone know anything about the Minivap being revamped at the moment? Something vaguely tells me I've read about such a thing not too long ago. I've been waiting for my Minivap to get shipped for over 5 weeks now and it just had been delayed for 2 more weeks. Does anyone know what's up with Hermes Medical these days?

They seem to be VERY slow lately. I bought mine mid March from US dealer. Arrived end of March but there was incorrect color. I just got the replacement piece. I think even the dealer had long slow time dealing with Hermes on replacement. It was always, piece should be here in 10 days and then another 10, and soon. Finally got it. Not sure if their production is just way behind or ??

I feel you... The dealer I ordered it from is quite agitated about it as well, as this is something out of their control. Hopefully it will be worth the wait though.

Sounds to me like the issue might be too little material (so too much air is going around and not through it). The other thing that could be affecting it is if you are not getting a good seal (I use mine exclusively without the top now as I feel I can be sure to get a 100% seal at the top by applying the correct pressure. I usually use with a Zapubbler (Hydratube type water tool with a 14mm GonG connection pushed down on the cone), but if using dry, I use the whip/cone combo piece (whip and cone in one as opposed to 2 separate)

Do you have any of the smaller baskets? (they make a "mini" basket as well)

Edit: maybe someone else could chime in on the MiniVAP's efficiency when using small loads? (I've always used it as my big hitting portable so I'm always maximizing the load size)

Hey, I came across this review which would indicate that indeed it may be getting upgraded with new temp settings, smaller battery etc, however the reviewer says Hermes will upgrade for a nominal fee. Here's hoping by the time the upgrades come round it's managed efficiently.

If you google: worldpress minivap review 2014/04/14 (7th paragraph down)

I've also heard rumors of upgrades for a while now with this unit which is why I've partly held off from buying one. A smaller battery would be great for my needs. Also I think I heard something about a glass mouthpiece or vapor path which would be great too. I think you can get the software upgrade now though.

Hopefully they are working hard behind the scenes getting these new upgrades to market :)

works great with just a little...and this little beast works better when drawing harder...that was my experience...

Thanks,
so what color is your ABV? My used bud only gets tan color, even when pulling several draws on high red temp.
I tried combusting a pinch of the ABV, just to see if it was really cooked, although not brown.
It tasted like really bad pipe tobacco so maybe all the good stuff was vaporized. It just did not
look like brown ABV.

I can't draw too powerful or the ground herb comes thru the mouthpiece. Maybe I should lay a small screen on top of the loose herb in the wire basket and try harder hits???

definately use a screen on top of the basket. If it is okay you have some screens with a steel rim arround them, they fit perfect in the sillicone cap before you put in the basket.

ABV mostly light coloured, but I believe that was mostly due to it being more or less pure convection:2c:

Thanks, I'll try a screen on top of the herb.
I use the silicone cap, with the small basket with wire rim snapped into it. Herb goes into that
small basket.
It came with the silicone cap with a screen permanently attached---to use if you dump herb
directly into chamber. I like using the other cap/small basket instead.

what do you mean silicone with screen attached?...once I had the screen was definitely not fixed...maybe you did not try taking it out yet? But seems to me you could not get any particles anymore if a screen would be attached, at least I never had...

Mine came with two different white silicone cones that go into the cover.
1. the one that was in the cover has a screen permanently (?) attached. The
small wire basket will not work with this cover. This would work for loading the
herb directly in the chamber/ keep it from drawing up into the mouthpiece.
2. the one I use a softer compound cone that is made to snap over the small
wire basket's wire rim. I use that and load with a very small amount of herb.
