I disagree with you regarding the Solo being conduction, but let's save that for another day. Without thinking about the form of heating, how do the hits compare to the Solo in terms of strength, air flow and taste?

Salutations Mephisto,

As far as I can tell, air enters one side goes through the heater, then through the oven . It travels back out the other side of the oven lid and out the passage which the mouthpiece is in.

Fresh air DOESN'T reach the heater element directly in this design, the picture i posted previously (twice) suggests that once inside it enters the heater cavity in 1 of 2 probable ways:

1) It comes through what looks like a hollow glass tube serving also as a light guide
2) It comes around the pair of metal mounting posts which support the heater coil

In any case air supply comes from somewhere under the heater section - NOT DIRECTLY FROM OUTSIDE - while, most unfortunately, the photographic sample just fails to provide any clue as to what this transit could hide exactly.

E.G. similarily to the FireFly its cannabic path (past the bowl and beyond) requires very little enquiry at all in comparison...

:peace:

Keep calm and vape on
With today's sale and fc11 discount code it comes to $289 only $20 more than the firefly. The free gifts make up that difference. The pics show that the mouthpiece is removable. Am really tempted to get this unfortunately I ordered a new solo last week to replace a m107 that crapped out on me and will be receiving an Indica tonight. Why is the grass always greener on the other side?

Hehe it's always greener on the other pesticide...

Yup from pictures seems like normal e-cig mouthpiece, but on closer look I think I can see a little screen in it...not sure...

Just a heads up. "FC16" Discount code brings it down to $272.99.

I've just read there is uneven browning of the material. Do you feel it risks combustion, mephisto?

I have not combusted with the EV. The heater responds directly to the airflow, so it appears that the more even/consistent the draw reflects on the browning of the oven. I have not adjusted my settings via software so I do not know the temp range I am using. I have the vape set on 1 and it provides a lighter extraction. I was getting some real dark bits on setting 2. If I can access a windows setup, I will try the download and tweek my temp range settings. For me, this vape is the daily driver. It does not get any simpler. Load and go. Draw and vape. I have asked Joe from Ipuff for some more clarity regarding the airpath/ intake as prompted by @Egzoset. Thanks for the heads up @lovinlivinlife , I used the FC16 discount for my second unit.
I am not worried about the plastic mouthpiece at all. The EV is a massive heatsink by its nature and it does not seem to carry enough secondary heat to impact the mouthpiece. I have always been of the "learn by doing" school of thought, so I will follow up with any issues I may encounter.

Also, I used a dab of oil on a herbalizer pad in EV, set it on the 3 heat setting, and this vape provides very smooth delivery of concentrates. I can' ask for anything more from one machine.

Have you tried inhaling with an empty chamber? Notice any off smell or taste at all?

Hmmm... very hard to resist the VAS after reading this.

...plastic mouthpiece?
Plastic mouthpiece put me off.
I am not worried about the plastic mouthpiece at all.

As long as my cannabic vapor doen't become infused with nocive contaminants it's OKay to use PVC tubing with some high-temperature plastic mouthpiece. I wouldn't mind even if it were acrylic considering the way i've built my pipe, with a teflon interface straw connected to a long cool neck...

Also, it's a funny thing to discuss the merits of materials when there's this huge planar stem-like cavity joining the cannabic bowl to an amovible mouthpiece. I don't think glass has been necessarily excluded as an option but it obviously won't serve where it could have been most appreciated anyway.

26.gif

Since we're all fans of glass, generally speaking, lets have a look at the Pyptek Prometheus handle to get an idea of what i see as proper use of materials + a design to match:

Though i might want to trade PypTek's glass bowl for something significantly sturdier!

39.gif

Well, in any case wouldn't anyone prefer a cannabic path conceived just like the picture suggests above?... I mean one that's convenient when the time has come for reclaims...

23.gif

Really, the glass mouthpiece hardly seems like a priority at this stage. To me it sounds more probable that no glass mouthpiece will ever be made available to the Elevape clients, not under such context which i'll be glad to illustrate again in a moment!

...

So, i'm experiencing some difficulty trying to decide how a planar stem compares with a classic glass tube! IMO the manufacturer failed to account for the "reclaim" factor, nonetheless.

I have asked Joe from Ipuff for some more clarity regarding the airpath/ intake as prompted by Egzoset.

I'll suggest you ask him to describe transit between the bottom face and the heater coil:

By the way... You were not prompted, i was simply correcting a vague statement as i recall.

The image shown above is all that remains of the original document which was published on-line a while ago, if you look carefully at it then you should understand what my motivation is all about.

Actually i happen to notice this was a month ago.

Something really rubs me the wrong way about this vape, but I don't know what, exactly.

I don't really care how safe the plastic might be - I don't want to suck on it all day. The last thing I want is more plastic in my vaping. I think when you're shelling out close to $300 on "sale" ( New and supposedly high-end vape like this works with general FC code?) and they add plastic to it (whether for portability or whatever), it kinda says it all. IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised if that mouthpiece makes the vapor taste icky too, for real flavor-chasers such as myself.

Hope I'm wrong because it does have some cool features.

Sorry for the late reply I have been traveling.
First of all, I would like to thank all you guys for what you are doing for the vaporizer community. I have read some very intelligent questions and comments. First a bit about us.
We are a midsize contract manufacturer located in San Diego. Our focus is mainly on the manufacture of medical devices and various other products for the commercial, medical and military industries. This includes R&D, PCB assembly, and electro-mechanical assembly.
The Elevape Smart is the fruit of a 4 year R&D project involving a team of 7 engineers, including a thermo dynamics engineer, to come up with what we feel is the most user friendly, most efficient, and stealthiest portable vaporizer on the market today.
It is precision machined entirely out of aircraft grade aluminum and surface treated with a smooth finish in the vapor path for easy cleaning. The outer surface is glass bead blasted and anodized for a great hand feel and elegant finish. Other colors and finishes will be available later but for now you can have any color as long as it’s black!
The Smart is a true convection vaporizer built with the serious vaper in mind. It uses a proprietary titanium alloy coil as a heat source. The process of vaporizing is controlled by a micro processor. Its critical job is to monitor the glow given out by the heating coil over 100 times a second to maintain a constant temperature in the chamber. It does this by continuously adjusting the temperature to airflow ratio during your draw. The powerhouse of the device is a custom made 6 cell 1200 mAh lithium polymer battery with a 20C discharge rate. With this amount of power, we can bring the coil up to temperature instantly and maintain a constant temperature in the chamber even if you draw harder. The battery packs enough power for a full day of vaping.
The Smart lets you pick the temperature that’s right for you. The Smart has 3 temperature presets that come preprogrammed from the factory. By using our exclusive app, which is downloadable from our website, you can personalize the 3 temperature settings allowing for optimal efficiency, without combustion, at any moister content.
The PC app can be downloaded without registration and with or without usage tracking. However, we do suggest you register so you can be informed of software updates for the unit to support future interactive features like self diagnostics and a home base forced air ducting station. Unfortunately we are still having some issues with the Mac USB interface (sorry Mac users).
We utilize lead free solder and gold on the components for environmental safety. The Smarts fresh air intake path is in the “little black box”. Fresh air enters thru the side opening around the Micro USB charging port. It is channeled through a non leaded breath sensor that sits in a food safe silicone cup. After passing the sensor, the air comes up around the heating element posts and passes over the heating element. The heated air then enters the convection chamber which is designed to circulate the air evenly around the materials to be vaporized. This is why the Smart can be used in any position and still vaporize evenly. The vapors are then routed through a series of screens to prevent any organic material from passing through the cooling chamber and out the mouthpiece.
By the way, the first 50 Smart units were shipped with an acrylic mouth piece. We are now shipping it with an anodized aluminum mouthpiece. Replacements for the old version are available upon request.
Elevape Smart was built with the latest technology and best materials available. We didn't want to cut corners to bring it to market cheap. Unfortunately that brings with it high production costs. But we felt that an informed vaping community would be willing to pay a bit more for the added quality and features. The Smart is available right now in limited quantities as we test the reaction of the vaping community.
Please give us your feedback and questions. Also, take a look at this youtube link for a more detailed presentation of the Elevape Smart.

Thank you , and sorry again to keep you guys waiting.
The lifetime warranty is protecting the most expensive part of the unit, and that is the motherboard.

The battery packs enough power for a full day of vaping.

It is channeled through a non leaded breath sensor that sits in a food safe silicone cup.

The heated air then enters the convection chamber which is designed to circulate the air evenly around the materials to be vaporized.

By the way, the first 50 Smart units were shipped with an acrylic mouth piece. We are now shipping it with an anodized aluminum mouthpiece.

A full day of vaping? By what kind of standards? 40 - 50 puffs? What does that even truly mean? Seriously.

So, there is silicone in the airpath? After much usage of my Ascent, I know exactly what small amounts of silicone can do to flavor.

How does the "even circulation" happen?

Glad to hear the acrylic mouth piece only went out to your first 50 customers. Not sure why you thought it a decent idea in the first place, or what made you so quickly change your mind after 50 units. Aluminum would not be my personal first choice.

I find the whole "app" thing to be pretty ridiculous.

Appreciate you making a presence on the forum and hope you can back up its price. At this point, I am very far from convinced.

Seeing that heated coil just under the herb screen already brings some burnt flavour in my mouth from falling bits and pieces... :p

I also would have liked a lost less "padding" and a lot more substantial info.

What does that mean?

Seeing that heated coil just under the herb screen already brings some burnt flavour in my mouth from falling bits and pieces... :p

Did that happen with your FF? The FF is what I think of when I see this unit's heating element.

I just meant there was a lot in that lengthy post which could have been edited out, though I've been known to be overly verbose and self-boasting at times as well.

I do hope I didn't come across as a jerk with my previous posts in this thread. I'm merely a dubious and nonessential FC'er with what I feel are pretty basic questions for such a pricey vape.

I also hope @Ipuffusa continues to post and answer any questions / grilling that may / should occur.

Ipuffusa says you can vape in any position. If you look at the branding on the unit, you'll see that the default orientation of the unit places the chamber on the bottom, and in this position the coil is above the chamber. There will be no falling bits and pieces if the vape is not used upside down. :)
