The Lotus Vaporizer

FlyingLow

Team NO SLEEP!
Is it just me, or does anyone else's usage go UP with the lotus?

I find myself enjoying the experience so much more than my old vapes (mostly because I get to use my glass), that I just can't get enough! I noticed how much my usage lessened when it went in for cap repairs... I am so looking forward to getting it back:D

Well folks... It's been a few weeks and I love The Lotus. Literally my favorite toy. Breaking up nug, grinding it, making fluffly piles on the counter, scooping it in and vaping it up.... super satisfying... just like my old smoking rituals only waaaayyyyy better. Anybody on the fence should definitely buy this. I can get four or five tasty rips off a nug that would have roasted in one hit. Amazing. And @FlyingLow I totally hear you. I seem to use it more frequently than my old combustable water pipe but I'm still conserving so I break even haha. Just thought on people looking to pair this with the D020, for me atleast with eye sight issues it put the plate of the lotus way to close to my face for my viewable comfort. I recommend the d022. it is about the same distance as the jhook from mendocino which is also amazing and the tastiest by far. So glad I purchsed this. I have only smoked a handful times in a few weeks... and man is it nasty lol. Keep calm Vape on!!!!!:myday:

Have you tried lowering the amount you load per bowl?

When you get your cap back try and see how little you can load and still get the clouds you like. I did this and came to a realization that I can just barely cover the screen and still get monster clouds out if I want.

I think this is one of the best things about the Lotus. I am probably over 200 sessions in on mine and it is still teaching me new tricks.

Here's one I learned recently....

My lotus doesn't like direct flame (touching the center with the actual blue flame pinpoint) as much as it likes "shadow flame".

It likes it much more when I turn up my lighter a bit and just touch the "shadow flame" (the light blue portion of the flame that shows up beyond the "pinpoint" when you turn your lighter up higher) and make an actual cone of shadow flame surround the entire center.

Hope that makes sense! :hmm: It barely makes sense to me and I wrote it!

I am sure I just need another session and it will all make sense!!!!! :science:

EDIT: Yep all makes sense now!!!

My technique for thick clouds using WPA and glass piece. Before putting the cap on the WPA i light up the cap by itself for about 5-6 seconds. Then I put the cap on the WPA, light up for a few seconds, then start to inhale lighting up using circular motion for about 8-12 seconds, once I see thicker clouds I distance the lighter away just a bit while still going in circular motion. This is gives me great milk and it's almost comparable to a fat bong rip. If I see in any red on the cap, then I know for sure I combusted and I'm usually 90% right.

I love the short stem pipe too since it's so easy to use when you follow the basic instructions in brochure but damn it kills my throat especially if I use it as daily driver.

Some ppl enjoy really long sessions, not me. I just want 2-3 mega rips.

this 5-6 seconds pre-heat to the 4 sec pre-heat have been great so far, great simple technique for damn good hits, this "Ox45" technique! it produced vapor visibility quite fast, certainly not the 8-12 seconds you mentioned. one unique thing was this method seemed to create the fastest vapor producing hits with the lotus in my few years of lotus experience (or just seemed to make it easier). more testing needed, but very good first time experience*.

*the length of the inner blue flame of my lighter is equal to the length of the lotus-tip to lotus-tip on the cap. and i 5-6 sec pre-heat the cap with the tip of this inner flame, maybe small circling.

Hello,

I have had a lotus for a while now and I will post some pics soon. But, I wanted to post some lighter tips really quickly.

First of all, I highly recommend holding the lighter directly in the center and not moving it at all. I get the best, quickest hits this way.. No heating the plate for 10 secs before vapor.. Milk in 4-5 seconds, every time, so long as the lighter is turned up.

Second, experiment with your lighter flame levels and bowl size. (for the longest time, I left my lighters way too low. You can turn them up surprisingly high with no problems)

Third, hold your lotus vape and lighter at an angle! You will notice much, much less sputtering from the lighters.

Fourth, oftentimes when the lighter starts going out, it is getting low on fuel. If you shake them, they will usually work for a while, especially if you shake them and then hold them at an angle. I really don't know why it works, but it totally does guys.

Fifth, I hate the xing lighters and do not recommend them, the one I got had a really stiff trigger and broke quickly (could just be bad luck). The cheapo Honest ones have been my favorites, but I have killed 2 of them so far, so I recommend ordering 5+ and just calling it a day for a while. A few out of the 5 will hang on for a good while

Sixth, purge your lighters and toss them in the freezer for a little while before your refill them, they will hold more fluid that way.

Happy vaping all and big thanks to mendicino (sp?) The lotus is my dream vape, I freaking love it. Pics soon

hi everyone, just wanna say, i got my replacement lotus back from 'verdampftnochmal.de', last friday, i got the cracked heatplate replaced without a worry and a cent, (even got 3 replacement screws and the allen key), hope this plate will stay intact, because i like this vape a lot, also want to inform european lotus users, that they now have the replacement heatplate-set's at their online shop for around 14.- euro, also: thumbs up for their customer service!!!
:-) happy lotus'ing again (-:

thanks @chrislangley4253 for the lighter tips!

Hi everybody! It's cool to see an european store with some replacement parts for the lotus!
But why the verdampftnochmal's shipping cost for europa are so expensive? 17 euros shipping cost to send a 14 euros hot plate kit, it's far too much!
(and I don't think a hot plate kit need a really big package...)

Thanks!!

I love the Lotus - still teaching me new secrets even after several weeks of constant use!

Until now, I only knew how to get low temp hits, and how to get a quick milkshot. But I couldn't get the hang of fully milking an entire bowl in a single draw, I always got close to combusting/actually combusting if I tried to take a long draw

Now I've finally got the hang of what I'm calling "Milking the Lotus"
This weekend I tried this technique. I start with 3-4 seconds with the point of the inner tip starting to hit my plate until I see the vapor start to form, then I pull back on my torch and let the "shadow flame" continue to heat the Lotus, changing it's distance slightly and constantly moving it in a tight circle around the center to continue milking the Lotus until I'm satisfied.

I've been able to vape an entire load (single scoop of the MT scoop) in a single draw. My GOD it's amazing.

Looks like my new Jobon torch might be delivered today, can't wait to try it out! I'll post pics/review later

----

Edit, forgot to mention. I was celebrating my 30th over the weekend with friends.
In my alcohol + herbal fueled fun, my 18-14mm adapter and Lotus hopped out of my D020 and smashed into my concrete patio with quite a bit of force. Sadly my custom OGB 18-14 adapter was shattered into a million pieces, but my Lotus survived!!

Aside from a nasty chip out of the black paint (oooo I wish I had the natural cap right about now!), the Lotus was a champ! Not a single scratch on the WPA, and the Lotus cap still functions perfectly. (Used a black sharpie to color the white chip in the paint).

Yet another added bonus of the Lotus - extreme durability!!

I thought exactly the same when ordering the kit. It is possible if you ask them to pay less shipping ! But you will receive a "letter package" without insurance, means : if it get lost, you are screwed. They told me they had to much problems with lost package. I just think they could try to find a cheaper safe company..well. BTW shipping are total free over 100/120€ something ...
I got lucky, after a demo a friend bought it straight with a kit plate along for me. Soon I will clean what became my daily driver since weeks ( months) !

I should get my glass adapter for my "pocket lotus glass mouthpiece" soon...from Original Glass (uk) I hope next week !

Funny. That makes me think of "Mr Blandings builds his dream house"... :)

(For those who curiously might have missed that great film, "If you ain't eatin Wham, you ain't eatin Ham.") :)

Is there a FC discount for the Lotus?

My plate cracked today
Mine started to crack after 8 days. I've been waiting for the replacement to get to me. It still works though and I got it out again tonight.

Mine seems to be cracking from the tip of the indented line, towards the centre of the heating plate. Different to other patterns I've seen on here

My plate cracked today

And this post is why I purchased a spare plate 1 week after I purchased my Lotus. I don't want to risk down-time on my Lotus!!

----

So after searching ebay for torches, I found one I liked - Jobon ZB-529. At $16 shipped from China, seemed like a fair price. It had a switch on top to switch between torch and flame. And there's a lever near the bottom of the handle to change flame size. (The round black 'nub' is just for aesthetics, it doesn't function)
sku_229490_1.jpg

It finally arrived yesterday and I was THRILLED to get home and try a new torch with the Lotus! Sadly, if you examine that flame shot in the image above, you'll note the tip of the torch. It doesn't have a nice pointy tip!

While it did work (albeit, very slowly) at heating my Lotus, it also left behind a blackend residue on my plate!! Kinda annoyed, since I really really like this torch. But the flame just isn't hot enough!

Wish this was a success story, but sadly, this torch will probably sit on my shelf for years. Now I'm off to shop for my next torch!

Try it before you knock it...

Edit- I've been down the road your traveling and stopped when I got this beauty. Actually wasn't on my list either but my cousin owned it for several years and it worked awesome for the Lotus. So I bought two and haven't had a torch issue since!

So has anyone successfully re-attached a stir stick that's come off the vapor cap?

Wanna share your method if so, as mine came off pretty soon after getting it, and I'd rather like to use it (seems pretty handy).

TIA

I know I have said it before but I really like this lighter:

I really like this lighter. EBAY LINK for a little bit better price.
:brow:

Great things about it:

1. Lasts me well over a week per fill (3-5 sessions per day)
2. Can control the flame much better then the honests (IMHO)
3. Lighter hardly gets warm even with long sessions.
4. Lighter Lock (it is so nice just to flip the switch to keep on)

Have 2 of these and have had no problems with either so far. Would definitely recommend trying it out for less then 10 dollars. (Lotus engraving extra!)

Just came up with a few tips on screens too.

I use a finer mesh screen, and when they start to get clogged, I push them up real close to the vapor cap. This lets you vape off all the residue stuck to the screen before you take it out to clean it more completely. You guys don't wanna miss out on these screen residue hits, I promise ;-)

Try it out!

When I received my Lotus, it wouldn't fit on my D020 without bending the stir stick at an angle. This caused my stir stick to become "lose" - I never let it fall out, but it was too loose for my comfort. I ended up using the smallest dab of clear 5-minute epoxy around and in the gap between the glue and the stick. I have no more movement, and stirring my WPA feels much better.

You and several others have touted that Jobon's glory, hence why I figured I'd try another Jobon model.
(That torch just looks ugly, ha ha, don't like the design). But I'm happy to hear it has a large tank.

If my latest torch purchase (another jobon with hopefully the same flame control knob on the bottom) doesn't work out, I am certainly purchasing that one. Are there any US vendors carrying that torch? I could only find one other ebay vendor in California which stocked only the silver one.

I love how fast the Lotus is. Went home for my 30-minute lunch. Came back like :smug:
Ah the perks of working a 3 minute drive from your house

Just wanted to say again how much I love my Lotus. And wanted to give anyone on the fence another reason to purchase one... Their customer service is amazing. Fast polite and on point. :) My email was answered within minutes. And I couldn't be happier. Thanks to everyone at Mendocino for such a great product and team over there... K, now go buy one. lol

I don't need a push. I just need some scratch. More affordable than the Solo which is it's competitor on my list. Very different, I know, but they may fill the same niche, for me anyway.
