I previously owned the one you are looking for and it is nice. Since I missed it I found this and ordered during their sale. I enjoy this one with my D020 styles and with stemless, though with an adapter on some pieces. If your interested in it or any other piece on that site I have a 15% off code I can forward you. Also if you sign up they will probably send you the same, but if they don't you can gladly have mine.

Why is it a buzz kill?

I take a lot of risk online, but continuing to do business with an entity that a bank explicitly warns against is not always the best decision.

It is buzzkill in that I just found this great site (and wonderful thread) and have been considering placing an order; however considering the above information, I am much more cautious and hesitant to proceed.

I haven't had anything weird happen.
We watch our finances very well.
I'll keep an eye out however I'll keep buying stuff from ghgate.
The Local smoke shop sells junk where I live so for me I welcome this type of buying.

Just put limits on your credit cards?
This makes it hard for me to understand?

I don't believe everything I read on the INTERNET!

OK, here is what I think. I am not all that concerned with doing business with dhgate for several reasons. First, dhgate is just that, a gateway to Chinese vendors. I am quite sure there are unreliable ones in their stable who may attempt to take advantage of consumers. I have had the same thing happen on ebay and amazon. Like ebay and amazon, I imagine dhgate will do what they can to help you resolve your problem, but I make sure when using ANY "foreign" or unknown (or unknowable) vendor that I am using a method of payment that promises to protect me as best they can as well. Like PayPal, who I will use whenever possible. I use a BOA credit card (when I have to use a card directly) that has a feature called "Shop Safe" that creates a CC number specific for a transaction or series of transactions and therefore can't be reused to try and defraud me.
Now, this is how "I" feel and what "I" do, and I feel safe doing it. You may not have access to something like my BOA card and that is different, of course. But you may have that kind of access and just don't know it. Look into it. And there is always paypal. I have never (I probably shouldn't be saying this kharmatically) actually lost any money on a transaction that I have made through paypal, BOA, or ebay to this day over at least 100 transactions. I have occasionally been wrong about what I believed an item to be, but that was usually my fault, not the vendor's. But again, that is just MY experience.

Let me add that I AM careful about what I buy and try to be sure I won't get screwed. Witness my waiting to hear from Dangus and Poopmachine before ordering a GB-187 from a newer vendor...

DHGate sells a lot of knock-off items from various sellers. People getting fake iphones and Nike's seem to be the cause of concern of DHGate being a "scam". That is probably where all the credit card chargebacks are coming from. However I don't think those fears should extend to our cheapo glass because:

A) No one is expecting a real Roor around here.
B) No one has reported any shenanigans about credit card fraud or unauthorized charges.
C) No bank is going to make you pay for an unauthorized purchase even if it were to happen.
D) There have not been any reports to my knowledge of someone not receiving their product.

I don't see any real risk in doing business with them, but as always use your own best judgement.

Gonna have to agree with @cybrguy and @Stu.

In any e-marketplace website there'll be good and bad sellers. Seems possible (and even likely) that dhgate has shitty buyer protections in place relative to other websites and that's why Vitolo's bank cautioned against them? Or maybe it's counterfeit goods? Either way, those seem like moot points considering sunshine's track record up to this point.

Thank you for the GonG you have been a big help in my journey back to cannabis. Seriously I need this type of medication. Water path has been the new frontage! I broke expensive glass the very first session so I buy from ghgate to learn and so far since the first of the year they have been straight up with me so I don't understand all the feAR?

I have some local pieces I will use this week. 10x the cost. I can afford it no doubt however why? dhgate is providing my education. I'll buy some more expensive glass at some point however I'm just learning on the cheap stuff first.

I'll be back at some point however I'll take a vacation to cool down and let you guys figure it out!

Can I use the classifieds to sell some of my stuff? I guess I could use craig's list?

Not sure if it's relative to Vito's post but I purchased from AliExpress about a month ago (d020 for $30 shipped) and just had my CC cancelled recently and a new one sent out due to fraudulent activity. I don't know forsure if it was due to aliexpress and it's not the first time this has happened.

Post in the classifieds! Or shoot - PM me - I'd gladly take some glass off your hands for a reasonable price! (I only have 2 pieces of glass currently - looking at expanding my collection!!)

Question about clearing a bubbler. Do you need to pull out your vape for each hit to clear it like you'd pull the stem out of a bong? or is that completely unnecessary

It makes it easier. But depending on your vaporizer, the pressure from the water returning to its position after you stop drawing from it will cause the contents of your bowl/stem/wand to blow back. It gets worse towards the end of a session when the material is getting dried out and lighter.

This blow back can be stopped by screens, but IMO a screen will not completely stop 100% of your material if you do a fine grind or stir constantly.

The best advice that I can give on the whole DHGate deal is the same advice I would give for any online transaction. Try to know as much as you can about your seller. Do not use a Debit card. Use a credit card.
Buyer beware. In most cases if it seems to be too good to be true...
Then again my DO20 for $29...:hmm:
I'll still buy from dhgate.

I have had no issues with my multiple orders from dhgate. Like others have said, make sure you're buying from a trusted vendor and you should be good to go. My CC has all kinds of fraud protection and notifications so I'm not really worried.

I have a Solo so I don't believe blowback would be too big of a problem?

Too many successful transactions vs very few troubled ones (just a couple kathy hu problems?) reported here, including two great purchases personally, mean I can't stop now.

FC is my ultimate litmus test and DHgate passes with flying colors with me for now.

Everyone needs to shop smart and it is their responsibility to do so. Go with a vendor that has very high feedback. That's why I preach only sticking with Sunshinestore for your glass needs at DHGate. I mean it's an open market like eBay except more dangerous since it is China. Why would you buy from anyone that has little or no feedback score or has not been recommended, or at all whatsoever, if you are not familiar or comfortable?

It's aaaalmost like blaming the Nigerians because your grandma sent one of them $5,000 after reading King Solomon is their long lost uncle who is going to reward them with $60,000,000 but they just need the $5,000 to pay for the legal fees.

Internet is a sketchy place if you don't watch where your going!

Perhaps I was hasty in my generalization....
and the banker was young...
and the DHGate name had crossed her desk before in a negative manner.
I should not bad mouth an entire "gateway" due to those few vendors.
My post was more a report of my experience, and a statement that I would be looking elsewhere for my personal feeling of well being.
Those with positive experiences are NOT discouraged from continuing to do business with DHGate.

Definitely understand when your actual bank tells you to not trust something, that would freak anyone out. I would take it with a grain of salt though, they are generalizing big time and basing their advice on the small group of their customers who weren't cautious with what they were doing, all in order to avoid any issues with their bank and DHGate. "Better to just tell everyone don't use DHGate" kinda thing seems like?

Well if months down the road there is a fraudulent charge then that has nothing to do with the seller you buy from and everything to do with dhgate since they are acting like the middle man with your information/$. Not saying that it is true just saying that the "depends who you buy from on dhgate" doesnt make much sense.

EDIT: From googling around dhgate has been around for awhile so I think if there was a problem we would know (just do some googling on rakuten/buy.com and you will see what I mean). Most complaints seem to be with not receive items or low quality, which isnt a problem with a good seller like sunshineglass
