Stuck between two portables.

Hi All,

So am in the market for a new portable vape, it needs to be stealthy and able to last a few bowls with a decent high from it.

I was looking at the Firefly the Pax and the Indica leaning towards the indica at the moment as i liked it had a big bowl so no constant filling but wanted to know if others preferred the others for some reason.

Thank you :leaf:

From what I read, people love the Firefly, and it is one of the best tasting and smoothest portables out there... but it may or may not be for you, the battery will only last you but a session or two, so either be prepared to buy more batteries if you roast a lot, or I recommend you go with another unit..

I love my indica and would recommend it to anyone. Easy to maintain. Very portable great hits. One full oven can get me through my day. It also feels very durable. I love it. I tried my friends firefly, although the taste and heat time were great it reminded me too much of my mflb. And I learned with my mflb I don't want a portable that requires so much attention. I.e fear of combustion, needing to stir/shake between hits, Idk it got old fast for me

Also the indica can be hooked up to water filtration easily, I'm not sure if the fire fly can

i also want to buy a new portable... i didn t own on of these you mentioned... But as far as i read the fc forum... i can tell you that the ff isn t real discreet and i think also bulky and more weigthty... but if you want to use it at home or in your garden the taste and vapour should be really good and you have a learning curve for the ff to use... (i have the cera LL i can also recommend for that)...and the ff needs also a lot of cleaning... the pax is descreet, smaller but its an conduction vape (ff is convection) which means your herb is cooked all the time (and therefor the taste should be not up to the ff) you have a big oven where you can load a lot of your herb (0.3g)(but you don thave to (0,1g)- there are tricks) you don t have a leraning curve also... but you have to clean it a lot to enjoy it (pax)... also i have read that there is a draw resitance... but as i have seen on videos the pax can produce fat clouds... the indica should be similar to the pax but withaout the cleaning...but its very new so maybe there will be some bugs (also i personally like the design of the pax more --> discreet, then sucking on a zippo in the public) i want a discreet small portable vape which produces good clouds, where a bowl last long, which is efficent, and tasts also good... but i think there will be some tradeoffs there isn tstill a perfect portable vape on the market which fits all these points in my opinion... So i am deciding between the pax and the indica (because of descreetness and portability)... if someone can help me to decide me i would be very happy tooo

Thanks everyone for your help, flying low I love your avatar, I took you seriously as soon as i saw old george there lol

democrat, I have actually been reading alot of your posts and it is one of the reasons the indica is the front runner for me.

btka. I use a ssv at home so its not a full time unit but for discretion and outdoor use. From what i understood the pax made a much thinner vapor then the others probably due to a lower temp setting i dont know but it weaker then i others from my reading around. The ff is a pain in terms of draw speed but having an ssv and having had a vape-or-smoke i can tell you i could master that lol. its the stirring i dont like about the ff and the watching the colour thing, sounds to fiddly for public use. In all honesty i would have prefered a conduction as i am the type to take a hit or two and pocket it for ages so im not sure how it will fair with that.

decisions decisions.

My girlfriend has a pax and while it's more discreet it's a pain to maintain as a daily driver. But we hit it walking through the mall on occasion. It's so discreet if you act like it's normal. The hit quality isn't far behind my indica if it's cleaned regularly. The flavor is equal imo. The reason I passed on fire fly is same reason as you, too much fiddling with it. Although with my indica I'll load it full chamber take two hits at Blue 3 at Green and power off. The When I'm heading home I'll hit it at the higher heat settings, never let's me down. But if public use is priority one pax is unrivaled imo

I could never see myself hitting a firefly in public and if you go through the thread most ff enthusiasts use it at home and have a secondary portable for travel and public use. I feel privacy and a few minutes are needed to enjoy the firefly, not to say it isn't great

Ps the indica does not come in black :/ saw you ask on another thread

I own a PAX and used the Firefly a few times before I bought the PAX. I wanted something extremely stealthy and portable that I didn't have to fill often. The Firefly delivered superior taste, and can swap batteries, but the PAX is better is every other way. Its much smaller and lighter, has a bigger filling chamber, and was much easier to use. They both heat up considerably. You really can't go wrong either way, but the PAX is much more portable.

I'm having the same trouble. I was sold on the Pax but then the cleaning hassles some people were having, made me hold off on purchasing. Then i heard that other vapes had better capacity and more hits. I am trying to decide between the Indica, Pax, ascent and even possibly the pinacle pro.

It's a tough decision since everyone's needs and opinions are different it's hard to get an unbiased review.

Maybe I should just stick with my mflb. It works great and I love it but I wanted something more self contained and stealthy for on the go that you can pass between a few people for multiple sessions.

Just when I think I've decided, I read something new to change my mind:doh:

green13,
I think I would choose the Indica over the Pax, like others have said the Pax needs to be cleaned often. The Indica is more discrete looking, shaped as an over-sized Zippo lighter. It also has a bigger oven and that can be seen as a disadvantage but when out in public it would come in handy I think. The FireFly is basically a metal rechargeable MFLB, it requires you learn how to hit it to get the best use from it and requires a lot of attention and battery life is not so great. I have not personally tried any of these portables, this is all info I have gathered from reading others that have had these portables.

Thanks for your input and I get what you are saying. Interesting take on the firefly. Something about it I don't like, the way it looks I guess. It just rubs me the wrong way so I never considered it anyway. It sounds like the pinacle pro hits hot so I really don't like the sound of that and not too crazy about the ascent after all. So it's really down to the Indica and Pax. I'm really liking the Indica though there aren't many reviews on it yet and I have to admit I like the build and dimensions of the Pax a little more. I wonder if the cleaning issue was not a factor what users of both would recommend for stealthy portability. Thanks again for your suggestion:)
