Underdog Log Vapes

The silicone hits like a nylon stem with a larger bowl imo. A screen should never fall out of the silicone if it's put in correctly. I use .583 screens and the screening kit from underdog and screens are a tighter fit than the formed screens in the new style gongs/glass stems. The direct draws are cool but I prefer my mini simple glass stems made with ssv mouth pieces on the thick silicone tubing.
I believe Dave has new screens then what he gave me in 2012 but some were too small and eventually the glass would be able to move the screens too easily, but that is a silicone issue in my opinion as it would just become too smooth too hold the glass. I disliked using thicker silicone screens that would round out when placed as it didn't look appealing.

@KidFated. I forgot to mention silicone smells

I really hate when my screen falls out of every simple glass stem, I prefer my simple glass stems with formed screens they fit perfectly. But I never use simple glass when I have the gong, even for direct draw the all glass gong gets used more often. But I also prefer using Hammer stems on my UD more than the simple glass.

Also my silicone doesn't even stay on my glass anymore. It just ends up sliding off after a couple bowls.
Tried the Hammer stem trick. Works great! Thanks for the info!

What this is, hammer stem? I searched and all I found was a technique to make a screen wider by whacking the domed part to fit more snugly in a stem. Hammer stem sounds too badass to miss out on...

It's a stem from a different vaporizer know as The Hammer. It's in the portable vapes section. It's nothing revolutionary but works well with my Dog.

Heres a pic

Oh I Member
I've talked with Dave for a bit and decided I'm going to get myself a pup! :D
A slender twig style with Black and White Ebony wood. I'm waiting until my birthday nears to actually order it, however I will only be using it with essential oils for now due to probation. July 18th, the day I get off, will be a good day. ;)

That made me think of this thing I gave away because I never used it.

That was before I knew what a log vape was. Shoulda held onto it, would work nicely with silicone.

I was wondering if anyone can say how well the thick silicone tubing mates up with a male 14mm gong fitting, like that of an oil rig. I've lived in unfriendly states and full melt/bho is a mystery in FL if not probably poorly made. I figure it'd be in my best interest to get that style joint next. Or adapt it with a female to female 14mm and use Dave's gong bowl. Glassonglassonglass gee whiz. Love to hear any input.

Happy 420 everybody!
These work great with the thick silicone stems by themselves.

If you have a spare clean dome lying around you aren't using, you can make it mate to Dave's GonG stem with a short(approximately 1/2"), thick piece of ud silicone. Works great!
EDIT: I forgot to mention i am referring to an 18 mm dome, don't know if it would work on a 14.

Hi. I wanted to post my new Underdog twig, which I love (thanks UD -- Amanda and Dave and anyone else involved). First vape (and post). I researched fairly extensively, mainly on FC, before deciding on this guy. I'm finding it hard to really capture in photos -- hopefully the beautiful details of the grain come through in these. Thanks!

That's a very beautiful UD @catbird

Welcome to the fun! Stick around!
@KidFated. Thanks! I can't take any of the credit, but I've spent a lot of time admiring it, myself. It was just chilling on the site, waiting for a home (though I have no idea for how long because only a few hours elapsed between my finding it, and ordering). After I was done with my first vape purchase decision, I found myself continuing to read the threads, and that's been pretty ongoing over the last two weeks, so it doesn't seem like I'll be going anywhere. Also, fuck combustion.

Sent the Underdog a message earlier. Hopefully I'll be one of the proud owners of one of these beauties soon! Almost pulled the trigger on an extreme q last night and glad I did a bit more research.
@HorrorD77 I almost pulled the trigger like twice before I even came across the log vapes, and I'm quite glad that I didn't and that I eventually got here.

Hey Dogs how's it going? We just rolled back into town after a few days on the road for a business trip.. glad to be back home and be happy to get back into the shop and get some more Dogs made for a much needed refresh!

@ HorrorD77 - With us being on the road I've sort of lost track of some of the messages I've responded to vs the ones I haven't.. have I responded to yours yet? If not you might resend it and make sure it got here.

@ catbird - I really like that Pup, glad you do too! I'm also glad I went through the trouble and expense of dealing with that hard to find Bethlehem Olive.. it's hard to find in that size and hard to work with but is very special!

Hey HorrorD77 - I've got your message. We just got back from our trip, so I'll be able to answer your message a little later. Thanks! :)

@underdog I am very much enjoying the fruits of your labor with the Bethlehem Olive, so it was definitely worthwhile from my perspective, too.
@catbird That's a sweet piece of art you have there, very nice! Congrats!
@HorrorD77 Thanks! I am curious to see what you end up with.

Wow, this hasn't happened for quite some time but it looks like we just completely ran out of Dogs on the website. I guess I miscalculated demand a bit lol.. :D

No big worries though we're working on a putting the final touches on a batch of Pups and are planning a refresh for Sunday if all goes well. Fingers crossed everyone, fingers crossed. :peace:

I received my new power supply in the mail earlier, my pup is back to his feisty old self. Thank you so much to Dave and Amanda for taking care of us the way they do.

Howdy! Trying to determine what vaporizer I want to get before I leave for school. Pretty sure I've narrowed it down to one of the wooden ones, but just not sure which? I love all the different looks the Underdog offers! Seems like the best variety of options for style and woods/colors? How long is the wait? I don't want to be stuck in a USPS game or some waiting list limbo.

Is the only difference between the white and clear stems the material? Is one better for certain things? I have one piece of glass that a friend loaned me for water filtration. It has a the bigger glass opening at the top (18mm?) Is one of the stems better for that?

What kind of power supply do you have, the normal one or one of the ones where you can change the voltage? Do most people have the one you can change? Is it necessary? Will it make me look cooler ;)

I've been counting the days down all week lol. @underdog When ordering, there's 4 stem choices, do you include 4 stems? I just want to be ready to order on the spot. My luck I'll be fussin around with the stem choices while someone swoops in and buys the one I chose from under me :ko:
Also, how is the nylon compared to the silicone? Advantages/disadvantages
I would definitely get at least one if not 2 gongs just because I have 20" of beautiful glass, which I heard not only makes cooler hits but more intense as well?

@ Nehi - glad you're back up and running man..

@ gardentown - we ship 1-2 business days after receipt of an order and pieces arrive anywhere in the USA in 3-4 days so no big wait. That being said we're out of stock on everything right now but I'm planning on adding more to the website tomorrow eve. The white stems are Nylon with a stainless steel tip and have smaller bowls. The clear stems are glass and have larger bowls. The silicone stems are oldschool tech and I personally wouldn't bother since I like the Nylon and glass stems so much.

@ Horror - no worries man there should be several options in the price range you're looking at, if you don't take forever fussing with your stem options it should be all good..

@ taelen20 - we're working on some pieces to refresh the website tomorrow eve, there should be 25+ new vapes up there with more soon to follow after that as well. :peace:
