The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

Dr. Soxhlet

SOLO Vaporized Cannabis is my Best Medicine
Back from the dentist: three tooth extractions. Glad I still have my EQ. The fan on high and Pinnacle Water Tool helps. Fresh top shelf White Widow and I'm feeling pretty good.

By the way, I've had this Extreme Q for aout four years. I think it is very depenable and really impresses people when they see the dandy remote in action. I still love this thing!

And four hours later had two more bowls of that Widow. Really does the trick.

I think I'll keep 'em comin'.:leaf:

I own the Extreme Q and overall for the price it is great. But I do not find any of its aspects to be that great.. Which I guess shows in the price. For really great vapor go with the Aromed, Volcano, Plenty or Herbalizer, Maybe the LSV or the SSV too a lesser extent.

Tbone have you used the DDave adapter and SSV wand? I think for under 200 bucks total it can't be beat. It depends what you are expecting from it. If you want a bag vape I think it's a poor choice. With the above setup I am really enjoying it. If I had dentist work like Dr. Soxhlet I can use the bag. I never use the bag and try to stay away from the dentist.

Can't remember where I got my SSV wand from last fall. Is vapornation the place to buy?

I got mine at vapeworld. Looks like they are the same price. You have to figure out shipping and discount to see which is better for you.

Vapornation for the win! At first glance it looked like that's what they both had. I dug deeper and see you can get the wand only which is what I would get. I already have lots of hose and the mouthpiece is nothing special. If you want a nice mouthpiece than wait out the 5.00 blems from silver surfer. WOW.

I just take one of the original Q mouth pieces and put silicon tubing on it and insert it directly into the top of the SSV wand. Can support PNWT if wanted but most of the time direct hit. Use original elbow screen with small load of freshly ground bud in base of wand and sometimes pull wand out of Q between hits. Full convection, no heat up required. Temp 386F. Like a big SOLO.
Great flavor and hits.

Oh ya, cut off the top of a 2 lt soda or water bottle, for a great stand for the wand.

And a golf tee for a pick and with a little sanding a tamp for the load in the screen.
(Clean out screen when still warm from last hit, then tap on mouse pad and blow out.)

Have a beer cozy around the top of Q to pinch F/F when pulling wand.

Kind of off the current topic, but I've found another use for the glass stirrer. I put it in the end of the whip mouthpiece to speed up the heating time (I use fan speed 1) . . .

According to Arizer, blocking the whip airflow is not a good idea - it creates back-pressure into the fan making its motor have to work harder and potentially shortening its life.

Ive been enjoying blowing up EZ valve bags with my Q while I contemplate buying a Volcano Classic. The only downside is you have to hold the bag on. I might be able to remedy it with some heatshrink though.

Thanks for your expertise. I've now found it works best to let the Q heat up and then just start the fan with the elbow in place to heat it up a bit. I've actually stopped doing the stirrer thing I spoke of.
Am I the only one who uses temps around 460F?

When I used the EQ I would do anywhere between 220C-235C which is 428F-455F, so I almost used it that hot. I did do it slightly higher a few times, probably around 240C (464F) but I found 235C was as hot as I ever needed it. I used these temps when doing elbow packs; I never went much higher then 212C for bags and that was usually too hot.

cOrpse.....pic don't work. Ok if anyone here is still using the original setup from Arizer, well your missing out. Man DDave your the man for figuring out the Q. So the SSV wand if you don't clean it will just milk oil back down the wand. I would never clean it but I like to see the vapor move inside the wand and the ABV/hash will finally plug up the airflow and I have to clean it. If I don't empty the wand after use and put it back on to warm up.....I can get half a dozen hits from the old ABV. While warm up the oil runs back down. I could actually do this much longer but they are thin at this point. I have mentioned this before but man this is my favorite setup by far. I have even retired the vaporbong/D-020 method right now. The clouds I get from the wand and female adapter are as good as most get from combusting a bong.
This should be a sticky and mentioned to everyone that is purchasing an EQ. I would never go back go sucking on that little hose and cyclone. For under 200 bucks I couldn't imagine larger clouds of vapor!

hoptimum,
I have had my EQ for a while now, I vape mainly around 205c-210c and sometimes I like to get a huge thick cloud and go to 240c. Just know the higher you go with temps the faster you will cash the bowl and the more active components in the weed will be delivered. During the day if you need your witts about you don't vape at high temps. There are many compounds in weed that get activated at different temperatures. Also when your hose comes due to be replaced get a food grade silicone hose, it has to be food grade to withstand the heat and it is safe since we are inhaling what comes out of the hose. The best price is usually on ebay since you can purchase it by the foot. That is a the only downfall I must say about the EQ that awful hose they give.

So I bought the DDave adapter from eBay, one of the repeatedly posted links/sellers that this thread so loves. What size screens do I need to order? I use the EQ as my daily driver and usually use bags too. How exactly does the SSV wand fit into that? Does it work with filling bags? I can get it shipped for 19.99

When vaping hash is it better to crumble it really fine or into little bits or just one piece? in between fresh bud i mean.

@marcusog the F/F adapter replaces the cyclone bowl. The screen I have been using is 1 inch but fits loose. It doesn't bother me because the screen is just there for safety. It keeps stuff from falling on the heater but I don't use it like the cyclone bowl. I only 1/2-2/3 fill the ground glass wand and cap it with the screen from the Q. So nothing falls out. If it accidently dumped then the screen is large enough that it will catch everything. I ordered from missnellybelly and the 1 inch screen wiggles but is very close to being the right size. If you still want to use bags then just plumb it like the original hose and yes works fine. The hose is larger for the SSV wand but it can be done if desired.

@VapeAir 2000 I use the hose from SSV and it has a little taste when new but goes away. I don't notice it any how. They come in colors also!

@Newcastle, Thank you! Your words are too kind! In addition to the occasional bout of the spins (Menier's), I'm an Aspie. I can't help trying to improve everything or finding uses for things for which they were not originally purposed. I loved the Arizer... the simplicity... but also the fact that to me it was modular and that by changing the glass, one could alter the performance characteristics of the unit.

I also have the same dilema as you. To clean the SSV Wand or not? I like being able to see the vapor in the Wand, so always end up cleaning it.... Glad you're liking your unit now!

I've heard some call it a 1" (one inch) screen. I always obtain from a local shop by matching theirs to a US Quarter. The screen that fits my adapter perfectly is this size.

I've actually cut mine up, then put it in a herb grinder.... Worked like a charm!
(Note, one of my herb grinders teeth are quite strong!)
