My spare pipe, screens & hotplate change kit all arrived today and missed out on any customs charges :)

Great service from the USA to Europe well recommended using the manufacturers online shop!

Only criticism is the online site is not very smartphone friendly.

I also got one of those rudolf nose caps that fits nicely over my virgin lotus

You Must Unlearn, What You Have Learned...
Hey guys I have a question, I purchased a mini oil rig, I removed the dome part and all. The very bottom part of the lotus WPA barely fits, it just wont slide down all the way like the top of my ash catcher does or j-hook.

Edit, here is a pic where the WPA does not fit in all the way. Is there some kind of adapter (gong) that I need to purchase to get that perfect fit? The whole glass thing is new to me. Thanks

I bought another piece right now to hold me over
Lot's of people are telling you to use an adapter, which I say yeah I prefer the adapter. However if your in a pinch and don't have a glass adapter you can slide ya some high temp silicone over both the wpa and that male joint.

Do you have a spare dome laying around? Put some high temp silicone aound the WPA, then insert it gently into the dome. Seals perfect and doesn't fall off.

Wow shipping from MT was super duper fast ordered on Sunday afternoon, and it got delivered last nite! Two days for processing packaging and delivery. Thanks Mendo Therapeutics!! Will be picking the lotus up tonite and putting it through a test run, even brought a can of Tane' in case I gotta fill the torch for the maiden voyage.

I just got my WPA kit in the mail today. Shipping took less than 10 days to Canada, and I got the cheap shipping option. I'm so happy that I got in on the 420 sale. I have no experience with a flame based vape but I've gotten pretty good results so far. I can only imagine what I'll be able to do once I get some technique down. Thank you to all of the people in this thread for sharing your experiences and information. I purchased the lotus after reading bits and pieces of the thread. After ordering I read the whole thing. Now that I finally have the lotus in my hands, I know I've made a good decision. Thanks FC!

I finally had to order a new Metal Hot Plate for my lotus, I've been using a chefs torch and the extra heat has caused some cracks to finally form after about 4 months of HEAVY use. It still works fine but lets more heat through the cracks so I am going to use it until it completely cracks apart or starts to function poorly. I definitely "overheated" the plate a few times when I was still learning the technique, I don't think this cracking would happen nearly as quickly with the supplied torch.

I ordered on Friday afternoon and received on Monday, before they even sent the email saying it was shipped, that's FAST.

My lotus has become much more combustion-prone recently, I wonder if it has developed any internal cracks. The wood still seems perfect on the outside. My technique has been adjusted accordingly, but it was pissing me off for a while while I was getting used to it. I haven't taken it apart yet so no idea really.

I have noticed that with the honest the flame is a bit fat and if you aren't careful it gives a gas flame halo in the areas affected by the cracks. Out of all my jets it's by far the quickest and easiest to char the herbs.

Has anyone heard anything from Mendocino? I still haven't gotten a reply to my email (they usually reply very quickly) and they haven't posted here in a while either.

I was thinking maybe they could make an FC discount code for 15% for those of us who missed the 4/20 sale due to their technical difficulties.

Finally received my lotus wpa j hook kit, tested this portable unit out and i got to say it hits great! However i'm not really happy with the customer service, i'm sorry to say this but they completely ignored my request.. Had to pay $70 import tax and fees because of this... Also i had to send several emails before they were willing to accept to change the items declared on the box as "kitchen ware" instead of "smoking pipe". Needed to explain to the guy that this was for privacy reasons and that not everybody needs to know i ordered a smoking pipe finally after some other emails he decided to accept this request. So now after i received this i contacted the customer service about the amount i had to pay and that i'm not happy with their service, etc... They don't really care about what i had to pay and my frustration about this. Such a shame for european customers.. Never had to pay import tax with ALT, Planetvape, SCS.. They always mark the order as kitchen ware on my request and mark the total value of the order as $30 and put the invoice with the correct value inside of the package.. Even with expensive pieces! Anyway where was i.. Received these honest lighter from fasttech they work great with the lotus pic below.

@Blueberryyumyum

The import tax is a right pain luckily customs missed my lotus and my pnp replacement mp.

What irritates me is paying import taxes on 2nd hand items that are over 30 years old pain in the bum. Sadly a lot of things I want are pretty much impossible to get in Europe and only in America most sellers can't believe the import taxes on 2nd hand stuff and most but $10 gift on the slips in sympathy.

Vapefiend.co.uk £95 free postage usually arrives next day or two from him great service I only ordered my spare pipe from USA as they carried spares and all in cost me £83 for my pipe and spares VF doesn't currently carry spares shame really his service is great

Hi

Today i removed the screw in the end of the stem. I am using the hole now like a kickhole of a bong.
A few seconds breathing in with the finger covering the hole. Then i open the hole by removing my finger.
I like the Lotus a lot, but without the screw i think it is even better :D

Has anyone else tried this ?

Vapefiend.co.uk sell them and I think there's a German site too that I don't remember the name of. For EU people.

Yes i know but they are not selling the j hook and the latest version (V3) ;)

@Blueberryyumyum,

It's good that you are keeping people informed here that they are likely to get import fees if they live in Europe. However I have noticed that Max has an "honesty is the best policy" stance and I think he should be respected for this rather than complained about. Your government/EU on the other hand...

I do respect the company but not their customer service as they were first trying to ignore my request. On the other hand never had to pay any import tax from other company's even with more expensive orders! I know the import rules are ridiculous here in europe. But at least take some time with your customer and try to listen to him instead of ignoring and giving short answers with a i don't care mentality.

No, but thanks for the idea. I'll have to give it a whirl. In the name of science:science:

Maybe the problem is that you're asking them to do something shady. They don't know who you are, and emails aren't really private these days.

I've had only good experiences with customer service.

got a nice fruity strain in today...did an experiment on my lotus to get some whispy high flavor hits...dialed my torch down low and did a little low temp vaping. so flavorful. then I cranked the torch up for some proper milking. My love affair with this lotus is still going strong.

I agree with this. I've had good service from Max and crew.
You should not expect a business to do something illegal just to please you.

Yes that shady part might be true.. However it's not really something shady, it's asking a favor.. ALT, SCS, Planetvape they never made a problem about this..
And still it's no reason to be rude and ignore a customer, they could have maybe thought about giving me a partial refund or a discount on a next purchase whatever...
Just saying instead of completely ignoring me and hoping they never deal with me again cause sadly that's how it feels on my side.

Mendocino Therapeutics is a small, family-run company that sells a product of dubious legality. You ask them, as a favor, to break the law and misrepresent the contents of their shipment. When they refuse you expect them to give you money or discounts and when they don't you say you don't respect their customer service.

Call me crazy but I don't see this as bad customer service, more like unrealistic customer expectations.

I did that with 2 loads of skywalker og which is the 1st time I've been lucky enough to get some and it the best heavy hitter I've vaped and in the taste stakes it's up there with SLH and Amnesia.

As for customs charges I always factor it in to any non EU purchases. I think they miss a lot and it's bad luck if they hot you with them the 420 discount meant I'd be even if customs clobbered me and the Royal Mail slap another £8 handling fee on top if they sting you.

The problem imo is as said they are a small company in a fledgling industry I was more pissed off with vaporblunt sticking it all over the customs slip. Trade restrictions are part of most countries strategies ours is part of EU legislation but the UK would milk us without the EU.

It is simple:

If you're lucky, ordering from the US will give a discount equivalent to the exchange difference. If not, and you have to pay import taxes it stays roughly the same price as the EU price and you might have to visit customs to pick it up.

I agree that although it is okay to ask, they don't have to indulge you in any way and that is not bad costumer service. The only thing you can complain is they did not answer you.

I payed 120€ at verdampftnochmal for my Lotus Kit. I decided it was best to be safe than sorry because i would only save 20€.

Actually, making a false declaration is definitely shady and could get the company in serious trouble. Just because others will take that risk is no reason to expect it from every company, nor is it a reason that they should give you a price break because they want to adhere to the import laws. Asking for discreet labeling is fine but asking for a false description is not. Asking for a false value is illegal and in my opinion, they have every right to ignore such a request.

Never claimed to expect money or a discount that's your interpretation.

I said they could at least thought about something like that or at least reply and apology about this.

So again i respect the company for the product that they make but that's it i don't really like their customer help.

And i don't see this as "unrealistic customer expectations", i mentioned other company's on my previous post both small and big company's and they never made a problem about this.

Very true but it's frustrating cause i suddenly had to pay an amount of $70.. And about the discreet labeling i had to send 4 emails with explanation in it why they need to change "smoking pipe" to "kitchen ware" ridiculous...

Anyway let's forget about this and just let me enjoy my lotus ;)
