Hey guys, medical patient and semi long time lurker. Im a heavy vape user and accumulate ABV fast. My metabolism is unreal and in the past most edibles dont work very well for me. I have anxiety which is why I gave up combustion for the time being and gone full on VAPE. Is it worth getting one of these machines for my ABV and stems? Can someone lemme know what to do with my ABV? Dont want to make edibles that will create an overwhelming headrush.

And im 99% positive a headshop i Know does a half off sale on 4/20 and carries these.

In my ABV runs, I've found that the stems need to be chopped up fairly small so that they don't bind around the internal stirring rod - that causes a bit of a pain in the ass to clean up. I'd recommend that you make sure the stems aren't any longer than about half an inch.

Good and bad on my end.

I cook for a number of medical users and couldn't realistically do this without a butter machine. The first one, even after repeated cleanings and scrubbings, had burnt stuff all over the bottom when used at the lowest temp.. Finally had to use denatured alcohol to clean it enough to send back. They lost it then found it in the office. After Promising to send me a brand new one they shipped one that may or may not have been new but was in the same box (I added itty bitty smiley face inside on one of the flaps.)

After sending that one back and being promised a new one with the new filter they shipped me a replacement one with the old filter. But at least it was sent from the warehouse and not the office and wasn't in the same box.

The people on the phone were always pleasant to deal with but never came through 100%. And they stick you with return shipping even on a defective out of the box unit.

Hey Butta heads
Had 50gms of ABV put it together with 20 oz of veggie oil. Let it steep @ 160 for 8hrs , the ABV was vaped on 7 with a Solo (abv was thrown in the container when you barely got a whisper of a hit out of it and resembled dark coffee grounds) .....HOLY SHIT it came out very strong and put a 3/4 cup of oil to a Duncan Hines chewy brownie mix, used an avg size muffin pan (12 muffs)...... 1/2 a muff got you baked to nice crispy around the edges buzz for about 6 hrs. Ate the other 1/2 the next day and was impressed, NOTE: I also have a very high tolerance and usually vape a good 2 gm a day The ratio was : 2.5 GMS ABV : 1 OZ OF OIL

I have made some batches with fresh herb but only 4 hr mark with butter and IMO oil is easier to work with as far as filtering. The newer filter MB2 supplies is a 90 mic filter, I got a hold of a 45 mic size bubble bag and it was 5x easier to filter than the 90 mic. A poster on FC advised me the low temp & long duration (time of cook, 8hrs) is the key to good extraction and for ABV to make 20 oz of high octane oil , it seems to hold true,YMMV :freak:

I can advise , put lecithin in at the beginning of the last hour of your cook.. By doing so it tends to keep things neater, the lecithin tends to goo it up a bit thickening and emulsifying the oil and it tends to burn on the bottom. My experiment resulted no burnt material ring on bottom of unit and for 7 hours the slurry didnt hug the walls ,and kept the ingredients submerged ,where the actives could be extracted. I would have hated to stand by for 8 hrs stirring this soup, which the machine did nicely.Talk about a great pain reliever and an awesome body high.I cant believe this dark green oil I have from ABV came out so strong:ko:

This machine needs a press, the filter process of this mode (small bubble bag ) tends to a lotta waste . The slurry thats left from FRESH I save (ABV I chuck) and store it in a glass cylinder where it forms into a roll ,I slice it up and put it on pizza and talk about baking a pizza that gets you ...lack of a better word: BAKED, The slurry works great it melts and and sits like a slice of peperoni and blends well with the cheeses and sauce and it packs a punch and tastes great IMO:nod:. Have to be-careful more than a 2 slice munch puts you away into a zombie like buzz.

Next run is going to be shake and some nug into tincture for some other recipes. I never did too much of the old school methods which Im sure are bullet proof but this lil gem tends to lend a few extra hands in making oil or butta or tincts. So far my only complaint would be the lack of an efficient press to extract all of the fluids (oil, butta, alcohol) out of the plant material when filtering.......:leaf:

I just noticed I'm like less than an hour from the Florida office. Wonder if you can do buy/pickup at that office.

FWIW You may want to look around on the net, I think FL maybe the warranty center, I think in WA, is where they come in from being manufactured in China, might be their distributing cnter . Give em a call,as to not waste the precious gazoline,

Im over here on the Atlantic side in the southern end of the state. West coast IMO is the nicer coast, less thugs, more space, built up here pretty good here. No likey too much, hope to move in the next few years to a 4 season state.TN looks good, cheaper than where Im at. I Can buy or rent for 1/2 of what Im paying here in Broward cnty and have land for the dogs. Here its all zero lot line, you can smell when homer:haw: your neighbor takes a dump:shit:.....:disgust:

After making my 1st batch of ABV Coconut Oil I am truly a believer, picked up extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil and Soy lecithin from Wholefoods. I used 28ozs of Coconut oil to 28 grams of ABV from use with my SSV the ABV is about 6 months old since I have since stopped vaping and went back to my ZOB Bong. Anyways the results are amazing I had been surfing the net looking for just the right way to do it and I believe I found it 160 degrees on 4hrs tincture, strained the finished product and then into the fridge for 12 hrs and its done. I really am shocked by how powerful the Coconut Oil is, %100 body high that is just the most relaxing feeling that I can describe. I have shared it with a few friends and they are convinced. A buddy of mine bought one also and made his with some top shelf nugs and butter but his results were lacking and then he made some with Butter and bud but still the results were underwhelming. Who would have thought that ABV Coconut Oil would be better than Oil or Butter made from bud. Now I have to start vaping again so I can obtain more ABV for Coconut Oil.

Hi guys, I just did a followup video and blog post about making tincture (hope this can help folks out). I decarb'd as per Master Wu method and used the same ratios of cannabis to grain alcohol, but upped it to 1 oz MMJ to 2 cups EtOH. Tincture came out killer, very potent and much better tasting than the standard Master Wu green dragon w/ double boiler. Couldn't be happier with this machine :)

Try it for 8 hrs and at the last hour add the lecithin.I found that the lecithin boogers up the sides a lot and keeps a good amount of product on the sides and not in the slurry. After 8 hrs @ 160 tempit steeps good and long, the stuff is ass kicking after 8hrs.I was told by a poster here that old school method was low heat in a crock and minimally 6 hrs,the longer the better as long as stirred and heat kept low. Mind you ,the ABV im using is taxed pretty hard in a Solo and cooked on #7 heat temp.My ABV looks like dark coffee grinds,(dark brown) and still the baking of cookies, brownies, comes out great.I use a standard muffin tray and theyre nice size, not mini.1/2 a muffin and your nice, whole and your good n stoned to the bone and pretty much couch locked. Vaping is great, so much reclaim, where as when I was burning, all you got was the :shit: out of your lungs............:leaf:

I admit, I am a bit intrigued by this device.

So for those of you who have used it, I ask:
  1. Does MB make more potent butter/oils than the old fashioned methods?
  2. Does MB make the process easier? Well that is actually a poor question. I have no doubts it makes the process a bit easier, but is it enough to justify spending $150+ on one?

That all depends on what is important F.L.
The machine does a good job and is pretty much painless. Dump in products, put lid on, program time & temp, and as the old infomercial guy Ron Popeil says on his products: SET IT AND FORGET IT. Old school works but is time consuming for the cook. From what I'm told is, you best be on your mark by stirring every 20 mins, temp isnt an issue with crock pot, but if you dont have time to monitor, then the machine is the answer. The machine also has a bit of techno fused in, maintaining temps and stirring and to actual de carbing material, grinding material as well.

I look at some things to my abuse of drugs over the years.I have wasted 150 bucks in 2 sec's on illicit crap and other shit.At least this will be around to produce something you like.Look at it like buying a few import glass rigs or 2 tanks of gas. I have my bud looking for lower grade MJ so it isnt that expensive. Will be having a 1/2lb of mids thrown at me just as long as I produce 5oz of it into 5 separate batches of oil, I get 3 oz for the cook to do as I please with. Its great to put the high test into food, but i would rather vape the good nug. Mids is great for cooking and works well.I also have seen some mids that is mainly an outside grow and rather good(green, not bottom of the bilge brown crap) and really not bad except heavy timber in the product and not trimmed as well as the high end nug we get here. Mine was given to me as a gift, but at any time that Im asked to cook,I do and material is supplied but I have to cook since machine is in my possession. Its a brother in arms thing:nod:................:peace:

1. In my opinion, yes. If that's only because I don't get impatient and I can just forget about it while it makes magic, then that's still worth the cost for me.
2. Again, in my opinion, yes. I only use mine every couple of months, and for me that still makes it worth buying over using traditional methods.

If you are using butter, I would recommend softening it first (not just chopping it up). Trying to close the machine with hard butter inside is difficult, and if you try to force it through the hard butter, you could damage the stirring blades.

Additionally, if you are using stems, I recommend chopping them into no bigger than 1/2 inch long. Long stems can bind around the stirring rod and blades making cleanup quite frustrating.

1. Yes - it is what it is meant to do and has it's own built in decarb and VERY fine grind, I believe these make for a more potent and controlled batch.
2. Absolutely worth it for ease of use and bulk batches.

Okay, at the risk of my girlfriend being offended (she loves to cook edibles), I think I am sold on this.

I am getting a Nano in the next few weeks (waiting on wood) and this is going to be my next purchase after that.

I'm in same county... Unfortunately my work is here. I cannot relocate so easily, plus family is here. I Have wanted to move to CO since before legalization. Oh well I can dream...

Oh yeah back on topic, I have been really considering one of these MB machines. Just not sure if the price is justified by how much I will use it.

i got my MB2 a few months ago. i never made oil before and would never have made oil without this thing making it so easy.

my first batch was a bit weak (1.5 OZ of bud to 2 cups of oil), my 2nd batch with 3 OZ of bud to 2 cups of coconut oil is pretty good. three to four caps and i'm nicely high. i prefer being high to being stoned so although i might make the next batch a bit stronger, it won't be by much. i like being able to adjust the dose and the high with one capsule.

i had a few OZ of ABV laying around so i made some oil with it. man am i surprised. i wasn't expecting much but i like the buzz from the vape Poo. if i didn't know it was ABV i'd think yeah, this is some decent pot. i've tried vapeing the ABV but fuck that if i don't have to. i don't even know if it gets me high because i never took more than one hit. i keep my extreme Q at either 190 C (during the day) or 200 C at night.

i threw out about 7 OZ of roach pot a few months ago (the idea of running out of pot bothers me :) )and almost threw out the ABV just before i thought i'd try it as an oil.

just like with the bud canna oil, a few capsules and i'm smiling. what really makes me happy is i used about 110 grams of ABV to 2 cups of oil and i doubled my canna oil supply.

i didn't bother using their straining bag, it always comes down to cheese cloth. get some.

the only down side is, i decided to make canna oil thinking that i would cut down on how much i vape a day (about 1.5 grams at the moment). unfortunately, i vape just as much. i just get higher. lol

just like with growing. i thought, you know what? i'll grow some great pot and then i won't smoke as much.
yeah, that worked out.

i'm pretty high and i have to keep editing this thing.

i decided to decarb the 2nd batch. it's annoying to me that i still have a question as to the MB2's effectivness at decarbing. so instead of wondering, i just spend the 1/2 hour and decarb. i'll continue to do so until i can find something that convinces me that a 2 hour oil cycle at that temp decarbs our beloved buds.

here's some bud oil and then ABV oil. you won't mistake the 2.
i have no idea what that little chunk of stuff is. 14 oz of canna oil and i take a pic of a spoonful with a foreign object in it.

i just make a few caps at a time.

2j5cldi.jpg

i just went thru and changed where ever i said 2 OZ of oil, i meant 2 CUPS of oil. lulz

oh, and i found out that 1.5 oz of ground, decarbed bud and 1 cup of oil does not make it to the minimum fill line. which is why i ground and decarbed an additional 1.5 oz and added another cup of coconut oil to bump it past the line. i'm not sure if 3 OZ of ground up pot and 1 cup of oil will go past the fill line, i didn't want to make that batch too strong. since the abv is ground already, this should give you an idea of how much you'll need. i didn't want to add any extra oil as that would defeat the purpose.

twice now, i've come back to this thread, gone to edit it and completly spaced out as to what i wanted to edit.:leaf:

AH HA! i remembered both of the reasons:

1. i use lecithin and freeze the oil and any other things people have suggested.

2. i kept reading about the bioavailability of eaten pot to be best around an hour or so after eating as opposed to on an empty stomach. after extensive experimentation, i can't tell the difference. it was annoying to wait for an hour to eat breakfast then another hour to eat the capsules. so now i eat them when i wake up and soon i'm vaked again. yay.

WOW this thread is usually dormant as fuck!!! Now all of my glass buddies are here Yee-haa!!
Well@FLYINGLOW ,yeah its worth 150 bucks, even if you only use it 4x a year, its just nice to know that you can do a few things in it quick too,if you dont want to spend time but I too think PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE, dump in, set up TnT, (time and temp)....Roll
Come home, siphon off a cup ,bake some brownies, EAT some and then bake your brain!! Machine isnt cheesy either, its built well, and I think theyre working on one that may be interfaced with Iphone ,for starting, stopping, selecting TnT,. I havent researched anything since the machine has been dropped off to me, just always looking here for tips but like I said, the thread has been dormant. if I had to spend the $$ I would,I like it,you can do other non MJ stuff too, its pretty versatile and really makes doing the deed for butta /earl a breeze, but then again you can always have a butta/earl party, while hanging out and cooking with a crocker and the buds!!

Machine does other things that arent MJ related. I made some killer orange oil from the rinds of some oranges , which is a natural flea killer and repellant that I use on my dogs and the fosters too.All natural and nothing comes near them and you smell like a orange blossom:luv: , beats killing them with petro chemicals and watching them desperately rub that poison off of them.:disgust: no more for my boys and girls!!

I cannot wait to get started! I have to wait a couple weeks to get some good "cooking herb" but think I may do a trial run with the shitload of ABV I have stored up. Tincture first..... then maybe some oil?

What I really wanted the machine for was to start making a topical salve. I've tried some made by another member and it is like voodoo cream. instant pain relief. Bengay has nothing on it! :p

I think the problem with abv tinctures is that we want them to taste good and there is no fucking way. I've made it the "traditional" method of shaking in a jar and then evaporating it down. I've made some pretty good candies out of it too, sleep wise. I'm hoping, with the machine, that it will be a stronger concoction.

One thing I've decided to do is not use this batch of tincture in candy or to make edibles. There is a new theory that FECO (fully evaporated cannibis oil) is good for a variety of what ails you. You just take a toothpick glob of it and wash it down quick with something. Works really well for pain, sleep and inflamation and you don't have the added calories of the edibles (which taste like shit anyway... save it for something good. ;))
