Welcome to the forum. How far North? Northern Cali? Been to PO, OR? We want to get back down to the Redwoods again someday. Amazing. The coast is beautiful there too. :2c:

Yeah, off topic, what the heck?

#1949 updating,

I placed my order on the 6th, but like an addict I'm checking the order status at Vapenow daily. This message showed up two days after placing my order.

I'm in the SF Bay Area. I have been to Portland, OR a few times. I really liked it. Nice people and a great downtown area. Loved Powell's Bookstore.

Anyway, it's nice to meet you. I've smoked for over 20 years (I'm another old dude) but I'm new to vaping. I'm looking forward to the new experience. :peace:

Really glad to see a sensible solution finally came about. So for those of you out there that kept bashing those of us who were just trying to get the powers that be to see the light........you should be ashamed of yourselves. Do you see constant bitching anymore......no? Thank you to Tom and Vapenow for thinking of this from the customer's perspective, and bringing an end to the nonsense and madness. I hope everybody is happy now.....because they should be. I hope this was the best solution for everybody.......including Tom and Vapenow.

I haven't placed an order because of my loaner PD for now....but it sure is nice to know that when I do, I won't have to mess with the refresh scene. Vape one.....vape all!

The bitching is not justified regardless of the intentions or results. The same changes could have been brought about with a far better attitude from some.

Nothing like a bit of humble vindication, eh?

Yes, perhaps that was a bit harsh....but the vindication feels good nonetheless....sorry to toot my own horn. Sticks.....you are probably right that these changes would have come about without the bitching. However, this thread has been pretty sensible.....and I'm really not sure the waiting list would have taken place this quickly without pushing HARD by the customers in that direction. If nobody had complained.....do you really think the system would have changed?

Go back and read the first two pages of this thread. The attitude was no wait list....rejected out of hand. Less than a month later here we are......a place where hopefully everybody is somewhat satisfied. Speculating that this would have taken place without the bitching is nice.....but I'm personally not sure it would have transpired without the FIRM kicks in the arse. Seriously, perhaps it would have ended up this way at some point.......but I really doubt it would have happened this fast without the constant complaints that were illustrated here. Since this was made the "official" place to do this exact thing....I think it was entirely appropriate, and ended up changing what was a very broken system. Again, just my :2c:

hi all, i'm a newly registered member, though i've been lurking around for a while. just getting into vaping, through a VG the wife got for me, and i don't ever want to go back to burning! so after a lot of research, i decided to go for a PD for every day use.

so i put myself on the PD waiting list last saturday at about 1:04 pm. my order number is 1957. from the number people have posted in this thread, there's at the very least 10 people before me. i'm not tring to come through as overly impatient, but i'd like to have a ballpark estimate of how many PDs are actually produced a month, so i know if i can get by with my VG for a few weeks, or i should think about investing in something else for the 2+ months waiting period. i apologize if this has been answered before but i couldn't find that info.

thanks y'all, and congrats Tom for a great product that i hope to enjoy soon!

peace,

joaquin

Do the math, they take about 4 hours to build, and there is one guy building them (with some help from my lovely assistant). How many a week do you suppose that is? I'll let you know I avg. 80+ hours a week (not bitchin', just a fact). Yeah, even then it's still not many.
:)

The waiting list has nothing to do with any policy change at Purple-Days. It's a Vapenow decision. The overwhelming number of emails simply changed direction and flooded Vapenow's Inbox instead of Tom's. Vapenow's original plan was supposed to give them a chance to do business without having to spend half their time answering emails from impatient PD buyers. It didn't work out that way. So the current plan is the lesser of the available evils, and Vapenow truly is going above and beyond what many other dealers would be willing to do in this situation. Some people still don't get it-this is a seller's market and will remain that way due to the time it takes to build this vape. Vapenow doesn't have to bend over backwards like they're now doing, not to mention the hassle and time it'll take to provide refunds when some get impatient over the waiting time. They're just providing top rate customer service. And for the most part, all they're getting as a thank you is, 'it's about time'. :/

And if you look at Vapenow's PD page, you'll see that they're holding a hard line on emails-don't send one unless you're asking to be taken off the waiting list. Unless you want your money back, you'll get no response. This hard line should provide some clue as to the number of emails they were getting. Like most vape dealers, they're not nearly as big of an operation as some people seem to think. They can't afford to have someone sit behind a computer and do nothing but answer emails all day.

20 units / 80 hrs (lets just say 7 day weeks to do some calcs)
2.86 units / day
85.71 units / month (30 days)
1042.86 units / year (365 days)

2,000+ on the list
2000 / 1042 = 1.92 years to complete 2000 orders.

is my math right...are u guys sure this still makes sense? lol
so if u order today, u'll get your PD in 2+ years...assuming he keeps the 80+ hr weeks... :p

and on the price increase (150 to 180), that originally wasn't an option.
was it VN that in turn upped the cost? or when did that option become viable and get implemented?

the PD looks great, w/ great feedback..and i was really ready to order one for 150$..but had no idea there was this much going on 'behind the scenes' w/ supply/demand.
and to wait 2+ years to get one is a lil looney...

i know there is no such thing as pleasing everyone..but..i can see why successfull small companies like this have such headaches to deal w/ sometimes. they just wanna have a good time build a nice product...and are stuck dealing w/ drama when it comes to 'supplying'. be a tough spot..but its prob good to know you'll be set for a good year + by the looks of it. :D

I don't think there are 2000 people on the wait list. I think they were just using order numbers.

I am Jack's title
I believe the order numbers for preorders started around 1945, I signed up within a minute of the waitlist going up and I am 1948  , the lowest someone has said on this thread has been 1946, so I think my estimate of 1945 being the start is at least semi accurate. The only way we'll really know is when someone who gets one delivered tells us their order number so we have a reference point. Since the PD's were typically received by Vapenow and posted on thursdays, I've got my fingers crossed we'll have an answer sometime today :D

Edit: At 20 units a week (80 hours at 4 hrs per unit), assuming 1940 as the starting point, you're looking at 3 - 4 weeks wait if around 2000 is the highest numbered order so far.

I don't think that the order number is just for PD...

Perhaps VapeNow will post a quick... there is XXX on the list type thing to give a gauge on where you are on the list

OHHHHHH!!

ok...very well.. thats not quite as obnoxious as i had thought. lol lil more reasonable now. ;)

thought u were posting position on list...

well hell, least my infos still somewhat accurate for the week/month numbers.. hehe puts it into perspective none the less!

in this case, i see a spread of 72 orders with the numbers supplied.
which i'd doubt ALL are for PDs.. so assume that even 60 of the 72 are for PDs, you 60 are 3 weeks out + ship time. :D

yeah..i have too much fun w/ numbers sometimes. or too much time on my hands. lol

I am order # 1943, and i literally signed up for the waiting list in under 5 seconds after it was up.

I even practiced on other items, was already signed in, and had all of my info to copy/paste so all I had to do was click 3 times.....:o

When I did this, there were only 15 other people signed in, and maybe 25 more guests. If there are many people before #1943 I would be shocked. Also, remember that any other Vapenow order would also increase the order number.....

so....lets assume that #1943 is the 1st in line

If you are 2043, that does not mean you are #100 in line. There are many other vapes on VapeNow being purchased, many of those 100 orders will NOT be for the purple days.

On the other hand, If you are number 1963, the 20 in front of you are probably in line for the PD due to the initial waiting list rush.

My conservative estimate would be that Tom is pushing out 15 PDs a week (based on previous post, plus im being extra conservative.) Assuming this, up to 1955ish could be getting their vapes by next week.

Is vapenow going to send us a confirmation email letting us know when our PD is getting shipped? Also, what day in the past have the PDs been shipped? Thanks!

Just my $0.02 and after reading this felt a terrible need to brag about my waiting list number....woohoo!

Why is everyone forgetting, I am above 2000 at 2017 :(

no prob. i will wait. save my PD some super powdered super powered herb. In the mean time, if it does take me several weeks, i'll easily read every 135+ Pages on the PD.
