Arizer Solo

My solo came the other day and i love it. There's just one thing though..

The bent stem fit perfect out of the box, nice and snug. It was laying me out as well, couldn't believe what i was getting off such a small amount of material. The straight stem didn't fit, but I wasn't too bothered as I've read all the info on stems not fitting.

So the second day of owning the vape i thought i would try the straight stem out, heated up to 7 got the stem in. However, my other stem is now really loose. Again, I know this shouldn't be an issue but I just wasn't expecting this to happen.. Thought the glass would adapt to fit into my solo not the other way round! Only problem is, I could swear i'm not getting the same effects as i was on day 1.. I'm still getting high but day one I was an absolute wreck and now i seem to need a couple of bowls to get to the level I want..

Have I broken my solo or am i just being a bit paranoid? It's still heating and everything obviously, I just want to know if this sort of experience is normal, has anyone else had a stem go from snug to extremely loose after trying a new one?
Tolerance!
Top Shelf Srains only!
Seals under the cap!
113 for the older model.
For the new models I have heard of people sanding them down to fit.
The seals hold the stems and GonG's in.

In in the tread somewhere?

I broke a stem every week until I fitted my SOLO's with seals!

Yes. A very common problem. There are several ways to deal with this. I don't want to interfere with your acquisition of knowledge though. Read 100 pages back. The answer to this and much more may be found there!!
Really not trying to be condescending. I read the whole thread, it was well worth the effort.
There are many good ideas in there that will enhance your Solo experience and sometimes save you money too.
I also own an Extreme Q, but the Solo is now my daily driver.

I just ordered my Arizer Solo on monday. It got shipped today and I'm getting it tomorrow!!! Omg I really can't wait! This is my first vaporizer and I've never tried vaping before :p

Edit: What's the minimum amount of herb do you need to put in the stem? I was thinking of putting between 0.05g and 0.1g of grinded herb. Is this okay? And when do I know if the herb is competely vaped or not?

I have a love for the SOLO!
Did you get a cheap low budget bubbler?

D020 works best with a PHVES GonG.
$28 including shipping!

I load my stems or GonG's very loose.
Fine grind no!
Medium grind yes!
Level 4 (my number) however since you come from BLAZING find your own level. (maybe 5 or 6?)

cheers for that, I have read through the thread and have already ordered some o-rings to combat the loose stem, just wondered whether it was normal for the size of the solo to change.. was just expecting the glass to be the thing that adapted to fit.

But now that's put to rest I guess i can sit back and puff on my trees in peace. Peace!

Yup, very normal. "Everyone" reports the seal loosening up both with heat (best to put a tight stem in when the seal is hot) and fairly quickly after it's put in regular use (the stretching seems to stop, which makes sense from a material standpoint.....at least to me.....).

IMO it's not at all realistic to expect the glass to change size or shape. The very reason we use it as a base for telescope mirrors is it is extremely stable mechanically (if it moved at all the mirror would no longer focus correctly).

You're in the UK, right? Lots of fancy Cathedrals with glass half a millennium old that hasn't fallen out yet? Know any 50 year old rubber in good shape? Glass is already an oxide, the rubber seal is working that way.....

BTW, the size (OD) and roundness of the stems is not really precise, nor does it have to be since the rubber seal will comply.

My advice is to enjoy the Solo for the well thought through tool it is. I was designed and made to produce vapor on demand, and has a well earned reputation for doing so. You've invested wisely, time to reap the benefits of that informed decision?

.05-.1g is good. You know it's done because it will be evenly browned and not give much if any vapor. Here's a picture of some stuff I vaped at level 3 for a full 12 minutes. As you can see, the material is a dark brown and there aren't any green spots (the bits that are were from me moving the paper a bit and some of the fresh material moving over, the load was thoroughly browned). From here I'm sure I could have gone up to 6 or 7 and gotten a few more hits but I decided it was fine as it was and put it in my ABV jar.

edit:

Hi FC, this is my first post on the solo.
I've had the solo for more than a year now and its treated me very well. Through lurking on this forum I have purchased a Gong and a bubbler(d020). The solo has kept me satisfied as a cloud chaser.

I have found that the best way to get thick dense vapor that rivals desktops is to
1. Preheat the solo on 7 with the empty Gong inside for a shutoff period (12 minutes)
2. Remove gong and load material, usually .07g. Its important to tamp down slightly so the herb will not be touching the SS bowl as this negatively affects taste. Put it back up to 7 and wait for it to reach temp.
3. Take long hits out of your desired water pipe and enjoy the white walling.
It goes without saying that there is a fine screen in the Gong. I prefer the vacuum method for loading since the bowl is super hot after it comes out.

Ill try to post a video of this later.
Alright, so I tried your stem heatsoak thing with a little bit of nug I was gifted. I'm not sure if it's the strain or the technique you're using but I got incredibly satisfying vapor from my PVHES GonG, probably the best I've ever had. Again I'm not sure if it's the strain, the heating, or both, but I was surprised ;) Guess I have to eat my words now... I tried it and liked it.

@OF
Very well written!

I was pondering tonight over a GonG full of YODA in D020 Bubbler!

Let's say if?

If all I had was a SOLO and no other devices!

Holy Grail?
Close!

Cannabis?
Yes of course it's the "HOLY GRAIL"!

The "MAN" the "MYTH" the "LEGEND"!

It's never too late!

Fitting a CHILLUM to a stem is like CINDERELLA!
I use a omicron tip for a air tight seal.
CHILLUMS are all different sizes.
The LOCAL SMOKE SHOP workers are fast now.
I trained them well!

Ehi @ataxian , I fell in love for your Omicron Tip on stock stem. Can you please ask me if this amazing Drip tips are as what you've got?! because I would buy them all! Hahaha! they write that are good for e-cig and I wanted to know if you think they can fit perfectly in the stock stem like Omicron tip.

It depends, I have a few drip tips for my ecig stuff, some of the drip tips don't fit because they're too thin or too big. I'd rather take a clean stem and try to fit something at the store.

Do you have calipers to measure?
Otherwise you go to a store and fit them there.

Not done yet. You're still about .3 Volts (say 15%) from full, the charge LED goes solid when you reach about 8.3 Volts total. You should press on until it's solid at least the first time.

After that, there's a strong argument that says maximum battery life happens if you stop charge at just that point (seven LEDs but with the charge light still flashing). Doing so should double (or even a bit more) the life of the battery (in total sessions) at the expense of one session per charge cycle (but double or more they total cycles).

Thanks for the kind words, but we both know 'always' is stretching things more than a mite. Although some might say it in a negative way.......

I'm very glad you appreciate my habitually falling back on science, it comes of course from the twisted way I look at things. I don't like it when stuff 'doesn't make sense'. For sure it's not for everyone, or even most. Most in fact probably routinely make one of two classic gestures, either suddenly checking the ceiling visually for spiders or knowingly rocking their heads from side to side with downcast eyes. Or both.

But it is what it is, and I'm very happy some at least find it useful.....that was the idea.

BTW, small world, you'll never guess what device I was sipping on at the time. Here's a clue, there's a spent stem of some very nice Durban Poison in it I'm about to change out.....

Thanks again, gives a guy a warm feeling.

I can't try the drips becouse they are on web store . I try to explain what i think about this: the Omicron drip tip, fit perfectly in the stock stem, so if those drip tip are compatible with Omicron vaporizer IMHO they are fit in my solo stem....right? sorry for my eng

I am still trying to figure out how you broke Calipers? Your FIRED!:goon:

Not to underestimate dedication. You know the definition of a Marine? "A guy you can chain naked to a rock in the desert, and in the morning come back to find the rock broken".

Perhaps such is the stuff of our new found friend?

Then again a would be Breaking Stuff King (BSK) has a tough row to hoe what with Ataxian on WTs and Nigel on glass flowers.........
