Oh, we have our reasons......

What I want to know is who's the big mouth that tipped you off? The very sort of thing Ataxian would do.......guy can't keep a secret on a bet.

It was me.... :disgust:

I've been sending anonymous tips to members to jump on the solo band wagon. I know, I took an oath but the solo is just that good.

The "MAN" the "MYTH" the "LEGEND"!
Actually I've been procrastinating this buy for about a year :( what a mistake to wait that long..
It's never too late!
Actually i already have plans to go get a chillum from a buddy that combusts to use as a mouthpiece, after i clean it vigorously of course.
Fitting a CHILLUM to a stem is like CINDERELLA!
I use a omicron tip for a air tight seal.
CHILLUMS are all different sizes.
The LOCAL SMOKE SHOP workers are fast now.
I trained them well!

Has anyone ever tried using a Hammer stem with a Solo? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Solo stems are about 13-14mm in diameter? And the Hammer stems are about 10-11mm in diameter? Obviously the Hammer stems would be really loose in a Solo, but would they still be functional as a small bowl option if held in place? Maybe add an o-ring or a bit of silicon tubing to seal better or something?

Did you pick those oranges?! @ataxian

Send me some!
My yield was super small!

I got about 6 oranges however sweet and juicy!

My lime tree yields buckets full.
However with all the pruning and training my orange tree will produce well next harvest.

Tomorrow is National "SOLO DAY"!

I will break out the glass for this special holiday!
My avocado trees (3) are off to a good start!
Growing is awesome!

Very nice!
The fruit looks very healthy!
There over a $1.00 a piece.
I bought 5 avocados recently and 2 of them are mushy!
It will be years until mine produce fruit like yours!
My trees were planted from seed.
They only have one year growing!
I will buy a tree already fruiting to get buy!

I like your water pipe! (very nice!)

Mine is low income however gets the job done:

Less than $60 for everything you see.

Level 4 is my normal setting however with this set up I find level 5 better.
This is the cheap D022:

The GonG I got from you I like better because I don't need the reducer bushing.

This one is ugly however I got a good price from the LSS owner.
At least it works!

Unfortunately I don't have a Hammer stem to use for testing. Do you have one? I was thinking that maybe if it works that it might be an alternative for a smaller bowl instead of using screens to make the stock bowl smaller. :2c:

I use mostly STOCK and PHVES stems and GonG's.
The HAMMER I know nothing about?
I have a SHORTY Bowl on one of my GonG's however I like the standard size best!

If you want to reduce the load size I have the best results from Glass Disk or Daisey Glass Screens. They don't alter the flavor and you reduce your consumption. I like the size of the standard bowl so I quit using all the gizmos to reduce bowl size.

Look on ebay for the Daisey Screens or Disk.

1/2 screens are the size to look for.
3/8 work to reduce space as well.

Look around and see what you want to try!

Experiment!

IMO it's not even worth a try (and I'm usually big on trying things that have a chance). "No way, Charlie" is, I think, the technical term?

Even sealing up the top where the much smaller stem enters will leave a huge gap between the hot cup and the cold stem for the even colder air to stream through to further cool the load. The harder you pull, the colder it will get. Like happens in Ascent, but much more so I think.

The Hammer stem, by design, depends on drawing in air already heated past the magic temperature. That heating has to come by conduction in Solo, and conduction means contact. No contact, no conduction, not enough heat.

In the spirit of science, I'll try it out, but my (somewhat) educated opinion on this one is it's a bad place to bet the farm.

My solo came the other day and i love it. There's just one thing though..

The bent stem fit perfect out of the box, nice and snug. It was laying me out as well, couldn't believe what i was getting off such a small amount of material. The straight stem didn't fit, but I wasn't too bothered as I've read all the info on stems not fitting.

So the second day of owning the vape i thought i would try the straight stem out, heated up to 7 got the stem in. However, my other stem is now really loose. Again, I know this shouldn't be an issue but I just wasn't expecting this to happen.. Thought the glass would adapt to fit into my solo not the other way round! Only problem is, I could swear i'm not getting the same effects as i was on day 1.. I'm still getting high but day one I was an absolute wreck and now i seem to need a couple of bowls to get to the level I want..

Have I broken my solo or am i just being a bit paranoid? It's still heating and everything obviously, I just want to know if this sort of experience is normal, has anyone else had a stem go from snug to extremely loose after trying a new one?

That's common, read the last 30-40 pages and it's mentioned a few times. You want a high temperature silicone o-ring, size 113. PlanetVape gives one with each PVHES purchase I'm pretty sure, and I think I saw them for sale on their site separately too. Twist the cap off, put a stem through it, then the o-ring, then push the stem into the heater and twist the cap back on. It should clamp down on the o-ring and when you pull the stem out it'll stay in place. If the cap doesn't twist all the way down or catch on the threads at all, put it on a piece of tape and use some sandpaper to thin it down a bit and try again.

As for your second question, it sounds like a tolerance issue. After vaping for a while you'll need to vape more to get the same effects.
