Kief/Pollen boxes

Review of the RYOT 4"x7" sifting box (formerly known as Wikka ? I believe, not sure)

Three pieces, with magnetic closures. Fairly strong magnets, in a drop test I think the wood would crack before the magnets released. The mesh is quite strong, I've included a pic of how it's layered and attached (some kind of adhesive, but not even the smallest bit can be felt). The wood itself is very smoothly finished, except the rim insert where the lids sit; not a big deal, but makes small specks annoying to slide back into the box. The bottom is Lucite, flawless and still unscratched.

I use the top lid quite often as a workspace, pretty handy!

Also, *DISCLAIMER* the organic matter in these pics is 100% legal, intended to show the product in use. Being in a non-MMJ state blows donkey balls.

About a month ago I picked up a natural goods pollen box off ebay while I was buying my pnp. I have a 3 piece grinder but in my younger days I took the screen out of my grinder to collect the extra kief and was never able to get it back in. So the box I picked up is 4'' by 4" for $20. I like to put my product thru the grinder then dump that in to the box. I found this box to work well for me. I also put a 1943 silver half dollar (still made of real silver) in it to help push the kief thru the screen. I'm not sure the screen size but it seems go be the right size. The bottom compartment is glass which makes it easy to see and get all the kief into my jar. I did zero research before getting a pollen box because it was a bit of an impulse buy at the time.
I was just wondering if any is familiar with the Natural Goods brand and how it holds up to these high end pollen boxes?

Can you please post a close up picture of the screen from above.

This looks really well built, but I want to try to compare the screen to the lower quality sift box I currently own.
My sift box has a large micron screen and occasionally plant matter collects with the thc

As you can see from the underneath shot, my phone camera can't get that fine of resolution. For what it's worth, I read somewhere it's a 100 micron mesh. I'm not familiar enough with that measurement to confirm, however, but I've not noticed any plant matter in 2 scrapings now.

Hey all,

I too am curious as to the status of EZ. Placed an order for a 7x7 box with glass in walnut on 3/31/14 and understood it may take a while to be made and whatnot, but after an unanswered email about a question I had (which was answered here by browsing) and only my PayPal reciept to show for my order I started to become concerned for my money floating around in the interwebz.

So goatgobaahh please let me know whats up

I'm not at liberty to tell folks business.

I will say he will resume production on Monday as an emergency has taken him out of town. Seems like a good guy I wouldn't worry if I were you.

I was concerned by the lack of a response as well, but like I said unforeseen circumstances have taken him out of town till Monday. Sit tight homie!

I went through pretty much the same thing when I ordered. I think it was about 3 weeks when I received a shipping notice through PayPay, I believe. Had an unanswered E-mail in there at about the 2 week mark.

So I wouldn't worry! :)

That walnut sure is going to look nice.

Sweetness! Nah I didn't mean it like that goatgobaahh; they wont answer me so knowing someone else is talking to them had me all hyped to know whats goin on. I hope all is well with whatever emergency he faces, and sit tight I shall. ^_^

And thanks EveryDayAmnesiac I will give my old Wicca box some last good use while I wait. I suppose when it comes to handcrafted things I am spoiled from nothing but great experiences from Etsy.com where the shop owners tend to be very responsive and fast. Not that EZ is a bad experience, just slowish and uninformed lol.

Speaking of Etsy, this seems like a good spot to share some of the cool little tools I bought from a woodworker by the name of Ryan Hoyt and his shop Earth Grown Accessories. He makes tools specifically for pollen boxes. Ill try to post pics of em and of the Walnut Ryot smokers box I got to compliment the EZ and store my tools.

Thanx again!

My old box, passed down through the years through friends. This thing has seen some duty and has a couple holes in the screen from flying flaming scoob attacks...hence the reason going vape and buying new box lol.

Anyone running an EZ-Keif Sonic box from MountainHighProducts ?

I realize its a bit on the expensive side, but I was attempting to piece together a tumbler rig and buy the time I get it all done (nicely & proper) I'd end up 'near' the cost of this set up that vibrates with SS pins. So curious if anyone here has used or seen used this particular set up.

Here's a vid I found online, even though I personally wouldn't blender my trim/buds myself, and I think it would be a nice new 'toy' for me while saving my arms & time with my shaker box:

What do ya think ??

Looks like a lot of fun... but a little loud!

I was expecting to see more kif...

Sure would be nice if you had tons of herb to break up for a party or something...

I suppose it'd be good for making strain salads as well... :buzz:

Ya, it does seem a lil loud ;)

He said he used an oz of trim and for less than a 5 minute effort (if ya wanna call it that lol), seems like a decent lil amount for the type of product used 'I' think

Since I grow I always have stuff to play with, and I really love my kief to make concentrates with the mason jar butane method, but I'm growing tired of the hand dry sifting that takes me hours to complete on it's own only to add more time refining to a clean oil

Wanted to thank everyone that participated in this thread. Been looking for a quality pollen box to gather kief for capsules, and I keep on coming back to this thread in my research. I will be putting in my order for a EZ walnut 7x7 wood lid!! Im stoked, been using my space case to gather kief for the past 10+ years and it just isnt sifting like it used to.

Good luck bro he still hasn't responded to me regarding a custom order. It's been 1 month+ too I even called him and wished his family well.

He told me he'd be back a week after we had the call. Guess not though I'm going to get a box elsewhere I really want a EZ but they aren't giving me the option to buy from them.

As a consumer what the fuck else am I supposed to do?

@goatgobaahh Your previous posts were reassuring when you in contact with him. I noticed his website is hella outdated and that worried me...Im going to hope for the best and let a week go by and I will call him. I notice they have a Facebook page, have you tried contacting them though there? Have you paid already? I paid a few days ago and hoping he comes through, a little concerned now after reading your post

edit- Just facebook messaged them and hoping they get back to me. Will let you guys know

For those using pollen/shaker boxes, about how long will your greenery stay fresh for when in a box Vs in a mason jar or Jyars?

Well, it's going to depend a bit on your environment at the time, I think. But I find my herbs dry out pretty quickly in my EZ box. But depending on the weather and time of year, sometimes they'll stay a little moist longer than I may like.

Can't give a complete answer, but what I like to do is go from cvault to jyarz for a couple days. Then I usually take out a day's worth and leave in the the EZ box overnight and it's usually good to go for the morning.

I've had material in the cvaults with boveda packs for over 6 months that are still in great shape. My jyarz material tends to be drier after a matter of weeks, but still in very good shape - good vaping condition. I like the options of both. I think that after a few days in the EZ, it'd be too dry for my liking.

But I just don't feel comfortable letting my herbs sit in the box any longer than a day. I even scrape up the kif almost every night.

Alright everyone, received my EZ Black Walnut 7x7 box yesterday and I absolutely love it! Seems like the seal is pretty damn tight, so I am going to experiment with using it to store 1/4 botanical at a time and collect pollen for my caps.

I will echo those before me who were taken aback by the quality, it is a mighty fine example and very sturdy. All the seals are pretty tight, I found that I need to check the pollen glass tray to make sure it is fully retracted into its slot. Even thought I put the latch in lock position, sometimes the corner is slightly (very very slight) protruded. I just make sure it is aligned and make sure every sliding piece is in place before I shake. I will tighten the screw holding the latch a little bit and I am sure this solve it.

All in all i am very pleased with this box and feel as though it was worth the cost. I love looking at it on my desk, looks very classy. As i mentioned, I am going to try to use this as a stash box and see how it works out.

@nny Love those pollen tools!

*Sorry about the pic quality

Could you be so kind as to message me [or post] what recipe you are using?
And how do you get it into those wonderful pills?

I am about to go abroad, and am petrified of traveling without my meds. It is going to be a long, painful and miserable few weeks and I am so scared of dramatic weight loss (I was down to 106 lbs in Jan 2013, now up to 140). Those pills might be my answer... I have 4-5g of pollen to work with, but have been hesitant of making a tincture for fear of f'ing it up and wasting it.
