I'm taking a domestic trip soon and trying to figure out the best way to take my goods. I am liquidizing my wax, and so I use very basic and slim e-cigarette device. The only part of concern would be the cartridge, everything else travels easily. So if my cartridge has lets say .5 ML of liquid (about .25 of this is THC oil), how would you travel with it?

One option is to pack it in my luggage and assume that if my luggage is checked, it will be written off as nicotine e-liquid. If they did find it and figure it to be THC liquid, what would happen? It's such a small amount.

The other option is to ship the cartridge to my destination via UPS or USPS. Again, such a small amount, what's the worst that could happen? Keep in mind this liquid has next to zero smell. All my buds are toasted before making my liquid, therefore all the smell is practically gone.

Which of these choices would be the best? Any other ideas? Anybody have first hand experience here?

I'd say that's landing on the wrong side of smart. I cant even count the number of times I've come back from a trip (all domestic) to find a card in my checked luggage basically saying "Hi, we went through your bags just because. Regards, The TSA"..

They have to be looking for that I guess .
My friend had the same note and they still didn't find the 2 lbs of bud in his suitcase ,going international too,
I'm not saying its smart but no problems yet.

why not put the liquid inside the legit ecig? and brand will do as long as you know who to. I use the cheap ones like enjoy. take the cap off and flush it out replace with your own oil.

I'm using the e-Smart battery and cartridge, and yes, the liquid is in the cart. I guess my issue is taking it carry on in plain sight. The beauty of the e-liquid and e-cig revolution is that one flies under the radar with these devices. But does that still apply to flying? I'm just not sure yet. I guess it just feels weird having it in plain sight and going through airport security.

Yeah I think they're more looking for bombs and shit like that.
So keep your weed far away from your explosives.
And by explosives I'm talking about lithium batteries ;):spliff:

I'd just mingle it with similar looking personal electronic devices. The chances of them knowing what it is even if they were looking right at it are pretty slim, imo.

I've yet to travel on a plane with my liquidized ecig setup, but am very open with it in other places. Don't act like you shouldn't have it, and others will be less suspicious, at least that's my take.

I keep my ecig stuff out in the open, not trying to hide it at all. If you act normal with it, why would they suspect anything? If anything, they'll just tell you you're not allowed to use the device inside.

hey guys, long time lurker first time poster. skimmed through ~60% of this thread so far, so i apologize if i missed anything definitive in regards i'm about to ask about

im flying to cali to see my cousin and i really want to take my DBV. i mentioned it to my parents the last time i talked to them and they were both extremely alarmist about the whole thing, which gave me a few doubts.. until i saw this thread. has anyone thought of writing up a standard procedure or guidelines to add to the first post? i was initially planning on checking my buddha with my luggage. i was going to put enough shirts over it for padding while still allowing access in case someone needs to look at it. i figured that they would presume it to be an electric candle or something (most people think so when they see it on my coffee table) but now i am rethinking my strategy.

do you guys think that carrying it onto the plane with me would be a better option? if i do that, i would plan on removing it at security and placing it in the bin alone. i figure that a metal cylinder with strange wiring in it could actually be pretty alarming. if questioned i was going to say it was an aromatherapy vaporizer and mention some legal herbs and say something about asthma. i would also try to play it off as a common thing i have to explain at airports to make it seem like i have done it plenty before. as far as all of the glass parts, my current thought is to bubble wrap them and put them in a small padded box (think about those pencil organizers you had as a kid, i want to line one with bubble wrap) so that they are safe but easily inspected.

i am going to forego use of the bag that came with the device as there is no possible way for me to stop it from smelling. i've had it too long, there's just no way. as far as other cleaning steps, i plan on soaking all glass parts in simple green overnight and then following up the next morning with an iso+sea salt wash for good measure. i have never done a simple green clean but i really wanted to make sure i got any possible residue off of the heater cover, as there is definitely caked on shit from years of use. i would much prefer to be able to clean it instead of buying a new heater cover, so hopefully i have luck. i am ordering new whip tubing and will be leaving it in cali. i will also wipe down the outside/inside of the unit itself with an alcohol swab or two for good measure.

so, i apologize for the small essay, but any thoughts?
TL;DR: da buddha, flying to socal. luggage or carry-on? any tips, strategies or guidelines?

thanks guys

You'd be better off mailing it than carrying it on a plane

thanks for the input, any specific reason why? is that the general consensus, or is this just your opinion? no offense was meant by that previous statement, just to clarify. only curious since there seem to be a pretty wide gamut of opinions in what i've read of the thread

i was thinking about mail but my (preliminary) conclusion was that mail wouldn't be substantially less risky than checked baggage. would it really be worth it? cousin lives on pretty high up a mountain, not sure what delivery is like up there. if it's completely clean would i really be subject to much scrutiny? i am going to continue reading the thread but it doesn't seem like many people who have actually tried it have had issues. i did not specifically say so but i will not have any bud on me and my friend dropping me off at the airport agreed to wait by security until i got through.. the idea being that if it was a big hassle, i could give it back to them.

"this product is intended for aromatherapy and vapor theraputic purposes" on the bottom helps, i guess. fun side note, they misspelled therapeutic

There was just a story on the news about FedEx and UPS freaking out because people are putting lots of meds through the system and they can't do much about it. Seems the safest bet. If you have to take it on the plane put it in your luggage. You don't want to be present to try and "explain" anything to TSA thugs.

Fedex and ups are very unlikely to check your package, whereas thats always a possibility with an airlne. People send vaporizers through the mail all the time from ebay and so forth. For me the peace of mind would be worth the price of sending it.

I would think a DBV would scream out LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME whether you check the bag or not, it'll raise a few questions. But if its clean like new and your not carrying any herb what can they do to you ? You can also find vapes in Cali when you get there.

yeah, i agree. as of right now i'm back to putting it in my checked luggage. i am very good at cleaning glass, so i don't see that as an issue. i'm going to give the unit itself several thorough wipedowns with alcohol, as well as removing the bottom to make sure they couldn't somehow get a positive from swabbing where the metal meets the base. i am confident that i could make everything pass a swab test so i don't see how they'd be able to justify taking it. thanks again for the responses guys

for your sake I hope it doesn't go through an x-ray scanner. TSA doesn't really care much about a little herb and a vaporizer, but if they see the profile of an aluminum cylinder in a bag you might have some explaining to do.

If it looks suspicious (it probably won't) they'll open the bag. I carry far more suspicious-looking stuff on international flights (electronics and dive gear). Usually there is no issue, but once in a while I get a note in a bag saying that they've opened it. In my opinion, the only genuine risk is that it would be confiscated, but I honestly believe even that is highly unlikely even if they open the bag and inspect it.

Stoned!
I am traveling this weekend and not sure what to do yet. Solo I am not to worried about. My small filled jaryz is the problem. I think overnight mail to the hotel is probably the way I should go. It is so much easier to just throw it in my suit case but I have never been in trouble with the man and don't want to start now!
