This unit is ALL conduction, it can be compared to the pax only IMO. The firefly is a totally different type of vape than the indica though. Basically its a high quality pax in my opinion without all the hassle of keeping it clean, and it has 5 temp settings instead of 3. The bowls on it last FOREVER though, although the unit does get a little hot when ran at full temp for a full session.

There are others. The Ascent and the Pinnacle/Pinnacle Pro come to mind. During beta testing, we told Michael that to be competitive, the Indica had to produce vapour comparable to those models as well as the Pax—and the Solo. Achieving that goal was a large part of the reason that there were four different beta models.

At the risk of sounding snobbish, we FC members are a bit more sophisticated about comparing vapourizers than most of the crowd flocking to the Cannabis Cup this weekend. They are largely smokers and they want something that relates to their smoking experience. That means thick vapour, and that's the major performance comparison point for these devices. Conduction vs. convection is lost on those people.

Here's a vid I posted a few months ago to show the Indica's vapor production relative to the Solo. I didn't have my FF when I shot this video, but I'd say I get a little less vapor with the FF, but the taste of the FF beats the other two IMO. YMMV.

:peace:

Thanks for the video. Helped a lot. I might have to pick one of these up for my next portable

I made my order and it has already shipped.
I can hardly believe it, but tracking says it's already in my country, Spain.
Bad news is that I will have to pay customs... Maybe Indica could switch to USPS for international shipping? Just a suggestion.

Scheduled Delivery:Friday, 04/25/2014, By End of Day
Two days to cross the ocean and six for 400 miles...

Do you have level 1 soldering skills? If so, you'll be able to replace the batteries no problem. Just not in an officially sanctioned method.
That's good news!!!

I must say, I was quite surprised to see that the cheapest shipping option to the UK was $100, over half the cost of the Indica alone, so I would certainly second looking into alternative international shipping.

With that said, an extortionate vets bill has put paid to me getting one for a few months. Nevertheless I shall purchase one in a few months.

I'm glad to see so many happy customers. Keep up the good work @Indica Vaporizer :D!

$100 to ship it to the UK?!!:goon: I was about to go on their site and look into ordering one but that just put me off for sure! :disgust:

@Indica Vaporizer I remember seeing a UK address next to your Vegas one on your site, will some international office or something more non-US customers oriented open soon?
If the shipping price is that high because it includes taxes you should describe it as an Electro Thermic Appliance with a $10 value, I had several $250 vapes sent to me that way and had no taxes to pay at all and the vet company that does so assured me it's never failed.

Edit: if the following standard method works (the address was in UK) and has a tracking number then please accept my apologies.

Hopefully that standard shipping is available then, I just assumed that was for US customers only. Apologies if I am mistaken :).

Stu, my serial number is 001691. Do you know if it's a newer or older model?
I've tried with and without the screen and don't seem to get any real visual vapor unless its on purple or red.
I like vaping at lower temps, CYEN & BLUE taste amazing but no visual vapor, not even wispy with a 15 second draw on blue.
Then green I get wispy vapor for a few hits only.
Purple & red give me vapor, but I don't like to go to red even on my pax (I smoke my PnP & PAX 0n 1&2 only, start my SOLO at 2, and get crazy vapor) I understand being a conduction type will have less visable vapor, but comparing PAX on low & med to green and purple, PAX has much more vapor.
After the light flashes, the manual says to wait 60 seconds before taking a draw, which I do.
Am I just wasting herb in the oven waiting that extra minute?
I'm not a cloud chaser by any means, but a little vapor confirmation would be nice.
I just got it a few days ago and did the initial 12 hour charge, but when I plugged it in the light went out in about 5 seconds as if it was fully charged. The light flashed 3 times and went out FAST! I mean half a flash then out.
I have another one serial number 001404 That I was charging for a friend and the light was on a good 4-5 hours while charging then it flashed 3 times, stayed lit for a few seconds and went out.
It's just puzzling me.
Should the light go out literally a split second after 3 flashes, or should it flash 3 times stay on a second or 2 and go out?
I love everything about it, I'm just wondering if its user error or a bad battery?
I'm just trying to get the most out of it!
Sorry so long, wanted to get you all the details. And the stem is clean to the oven., no obstructions.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I don't have any information about serial numbers / models. If you're curious, I would suggest contacting Indica directly.

Regarding the different temperatures, I think this is going to be a subjective thing for each user to determine their favorite temps. I get visible vapor from all temps except the lowest (cyan). As I mentioned in the video, my favorite temp is Purple (205°C).

I don't think you need to wait 60 seconds after the unit reaches temperature, but your first hit will be thicker if you do. Waiting may cause some vapor to condense inside the device, but I doubt that it would account to very much at the end of the day.

I don't understand the light issue that you're describing. Is it happening during use or charging?

Oh, and I don't use screens in the chamber as it doesn't seem to be necessary, and it's kinda a PITA to get one in there the right way IME.

it only does the light flash when charging, not in use.

The Indica is absolutely beautiful!
The Indica is extremely well constructed and seems like it will be extremely durable!
The packaging and contents are well above other vapes!
I love the wooden storage box!
Mike and the Indica company really outdid themselves on this vaporizer!
Definitely worth the wait!

I'd love to hear some comparisons between this and the PAX, if there are any users with both.

Especially in regards to cleaning, vapor production, battery life, and how it feels to use. Cleaning is supposed to be frequent with the PAX, and I'd love to hear about the Indica.

The goal during development was to make a device that could at least match the Pax in vapour production. We used the Pax as the goal because it is the dominant seller in that market segment. Indica Vaporizer would not take it to market until we beta testers agreed that it matched or exceeded the Pax.

The Pax requires frequent and careful cleaning to prevent the dreaded temperature mode problem. The Indica has no such issue. Cleaning is simpler and not needed nearly as much.

I don't run any of my devices until the battery needs to be charged. I put them back on the charger after each load. I have no memory of how long the Pax lasts, although I did test this when I first got mine. I know the Indica lives up to the manufacturer's claims.

In use, the Pax is smaller and more discreet. It does, however, reek as soon as it starts to warm up. The Indica is better in this regard because of its flip top. At its highest temperature the Indica will get fairly warm after a full session, but not uncomfortably so (at least to me). The Pax doesn't seem to get quite as warm. I don't consider the difference significant. Because of its spacer, the Indica is easier to use effectively with small loads, something I campaigned especially hard for. Finally, if you drop your Pax it is quite likely that the oven door will fly off and it will spill the load. There is no such issue with the Indica.

Thank you for that ^ review @pakalolo ! I was surfing around earlier, went to the pax website, just out of curiosity this morning...sticking with the Indica as my birthday gift this summer!

Milaana. Lana. LANA. LANAAAA! (TM2/TP80/BAK/FW9)
aaand just pulled the trigger myself. I'm trusting @Indica Vaporizer to stand by the product regarding replacing the battery after a year (or even offering some sort of trade in hopefully when/if a new model comes out...), since I can't solder myself...
Oh also, quick question @OF if you don't mind, I've read on other threads how you've written about keeping lithium powered vapes charged up instead of draining, and I was just wondering about use while charging for the Indica, as I know its not so good for the solo right? Is the Indica designed in a better manner for that? Can it work off AC once fully charged like the Ascent? (Is that even true? I read it in some review somewhere but have no idea, I just now the battery indicator stays full on my ascent without blinking when used while plugged in and full). I just want to follow the best methods for keeping the Indica battery in top shape as long as possible. Really appreciate yours and everyone else's work on these threads!

I'm excited to have this as a companion to my solo (once I get it back, got a defective unit and then they replaced it with the older restrictive airflow model by mistake and haven't admitted it yet...). Got an Ascent to hold me in the meantime but once this came out I knew I would want it instead.

Ok, so I dried my herb out and the Indica is workin much better.

On another note, I took a small magnet from a tire gauge, put it on the inside (side) of my lid, and it holds the pick safe and sound inside the lid without worrying about loosing it!

This unit looks nice...seems to perform well.

I'm with some of you that a black, stealthy unit would be a good addition. Overall I'm impressed by what I see. If I was in the market, I would only be looking at the Indica or the Pax. Can't see myself getting rid of the Pax for this though...

Thats the main reason i never bought a pax. Looks like ill be getting one of these but i can still wait a few months for a replaceable battery...

I am a little concerned with @Vape Dr. Experience. I prefer the low temps as well. When i have used the pax, i would use the middle setting, and solo i would use around 4 on an M107... Have others gotten good vapor from the lower settings? Or whatever setting would be comparable to those temperatures above?

Mynameismud, I found out my main issue was my herb was too moist. I have only had it a few days but here you go.
I pack the chamber, (with a screen right now) but a screen is not necessary it just keeps the spacer from moving a little.
I turn the temp to #3 Green 376F when the light flashes I start to inhale.(you should wait 30 seconds or so if you want it to reach desired temp) although the temp is not fully at green 376F it is at #2 Blue 358F.
I do this to enjoy the phenomenal taste of Blue while its heating up to green, so there's really no interruption in the session and Green is where you get good vapor hits.
I should also mention I only use my PAX on low & med, my PnP on 1&2, and I start my SOLO at 2 then stop at 5. So you should feel safe seeing as how I like temperatures much lower than you do.
#3 on Indica is like PAX on low
#4 on Indica is like PAX on medium
#5 on Indica is like PAX on high.
So you have a wide range of "low or lower" temps on the Indica over the PAX.

420democrat
I think this is probably one of the most well made portables I own. The Quality is unparalleled. I would compare the quality to a SOLO, for real. When it's in your hands you can feel how durable it is.
It will be used daily, very often! I'm still trying to "master" the Indica so stay tuned for more!!!
