Dudes, I'm at Berkeley and my 3 International roomies from Shanghai are always talking behind my back about my vaping. I'm using a solo and mflb and blowing into a smokebuddy and somehow they still notice! Cops don't care though, just vape right in front of them to tease them.

Excellent post, brings up a couple of points. First off, your judgement of smell is not reliable. Ever know a cigarette smoker who didn't understand his clothes reeked of smoke? Like there, guys who's sinuses aren't hammered by the smell can spot it much easier than you or I. Just because you (and your 'partaker' buds) can't smell it doesn't mean it can't be smelled.

Secondly, there are guys from other backgrounds for whom weed is a big deal. Even when completely legal (not the case here of course) vaping can fall into the 'rude treatment' area like playing music late/loud or filling the room up with rowdy party types (or women of questionable virtue.....a personal favorite in my dorm days)......it's their home too. As was suggested earlier it might be a good idea to honestly discuss this with the roomie as you would any other such issue that impacts you all?

Hey, I had a roomie that was dealing lids to a kind of spooky bunch. They'd show up when Ben wasn't there, often with even more spooky guys they'd just met, and want me to get them a lid from Ben's stash. Sometimes at his suggestion. Let me explain how little I appreciated that?

Thanks for the post and perspective.

I got you. Totally respect their culture and whatnot, it's partly mine (Guangzhou), but they have got to get use to this. There are students blazing outside our dorm window every few hours and they still care. Their just having a slight trouble acclimating to unpaved America.

Hey everyone!! Havnt signed on for a bit but using the Solo everyday and loving it.

Not sure if this has been discussed before. You can charge the Solo off a 3 cell LIPO battery. I ran some tests and it charges at the same exact rate as when plugged into the wall outlet.

I was able to charge the solo 3 times off a 5000mah lipo. Took it down to 3.86 per cell.

Yup, it's been discussed a few times. Here's my latest version (it started life years ago to power the PD....) sitting in front of the case it travels in:

It uses 18650s so you can just pack an extra set or two for longer missions. IMO a useful idea, at least for some. You can, if you have the correct version Solo, also regulate it down and run PA mode with it. That's mostly what I use mine for. Keeps the hours off the internal battery.

Good post, glad you're enjoying the Solo......that's what they're made for.

Food smells disguises other smells very well. The burnt toast or a bacon smell is good. If in a dorm cooking bacon might be a bit dangerous. Especially cooking bacon on a hot plate, medicated in a small space.

Hey guys!

Are there any guidelines on best conserving herb with the Solo? Should I stick to lowest possible temps?
And should I rely on my F-bomb or dry stems for conserving?

My easter re-up was too late for easter, now I have to conserve my crumbs. :(

Thankful for any help, hope the awesome Solo pros around here have some good tips as always. :D

Several things come to mind. First small loads, ones you'll finish in one go. I think a fair bit can be (but isn't always?) lost reheating a stem.

Do smaller sessions, often I think guys do more than they need by not waiting long enough for the effect. Take a small load, then wait a bit before deciding to do more. This also helps keep tolerance low I think.

Go in dry, you want to control the vapor from the start, not evaporate off a bunch of water. Likewise grind medium/fine, you want lots of surface area in play.

Finally, you need to exhaust the THC you load. That means roasting it at the end (at least). Start low if you wish, but plan to push it to the top before shutting down. If that makes it too harsh for you, have the WT standing by.

Good luck with it.

I have a LOT of reading to do. I was introduced to vaporizing with the PNP but had some issues with that unit and have switched to the Solo. Should be here in a day or two. I look to forward to receiving it and trying it out.

I have a (plain vanilla) Pinnacle and a couple Solos, I'm sure you'll like it better.

The common advice is to go back a couple months and read forward. Lots of great information and fun in there.

Congrats on your second attempt, I think you're about to hit paydirt.

Thanks. I am sure I will enjoy it. I liked the previous unit but it didn't work out in the end. The Solo looks to be a well built product and I am so anxious to get it. I will have to say my vendor went WAY above and beyond to help me get the old product returned after their 30 day return window. I won't bore anyone with the details but they certainly won my return business. I don't think they are a member here so I am not going to mention who they are. You are welcome to PM me.

The Solo is such a hassle-free vape I could tell you exactly how to use it over the phone if it came to that. There isn't an awful lot to it which ends up being very good. Fastest advice that you'll most likely ask about: fully charge it when you get it, do 1-2 dry burns at 7 for the whole 12min session. 1/2" screens for the stem, get them a little bigger if you want to dome them to reduce stem size. Med-fine grind will be easier to get the hang of it, once you're feeling good about it you can try breaking off a piece of nug and just putting that inside. You can thoroughly vape a whole nug if you know how to go about it. Stick with stock stems for now, don't bother with the "high efficiency stems" you'll read about for now.

I think you'll really like the construction of the Solo coming from the PNP, too. Feels very solid in the hand and it doesn't include stuff it doesn't need to.

And do tell us who the vendor is, I think that kind of service deserves some recognition? No shame in coming to the conclusion that a vape isn't for you, looks good for them not to leave you hanging when they easily could have just said "well your return window is closed sorry"

Just finished iso reclaiming for the 1st time. Pretty satisfied by the results and simple process. Let the stem it in a travel tube full of 99% iso. Evaporate. I put mine for 36h on the window; inside closed, outside open. Scraped it, put it here.

Now I need to learn how to handle concentrates.. Always was messy when i just scraped my stem and vaped it.

I better hold on to my old SOLO's.
They have been so reliable?

Do you have the latest model with the modifications?

All the solos were purchased this calendar year (all in all probably around 15 solos), they range from M1D2 , M1A4 etc, all have the ability to charge and use simultaneously.

Most of the issues - premature auto shut off, LED lights going bonkers, not able to charge, bottom plate (near screws) start chipping. Even new replacement batteries don't resolve most issue.

On the upside i am now able to dismantle the solo and put it back together in under a minute

I do love the vapour quality hence i go back for more.

WISH Arizer would make the Solo in a PREMIUM MODEL. i.e better construction, better battery etc, even if it was double the current cost i'd pay it.

PS - Kudos to Randy @ puffitup, superstar

Tried to use the Solo as efficiently as possible today. Using a PVHES I put in a tiny pinch of herb barely enough to cover the screen in the stem, started off at 2 and increased one level when the vapor production was noticeably lowered. Ended at 5 as the taste was getting bad. Worked amazingly, I have completely forgotten how efficient the Solo can be.

Glad to hear it's working out for you.

I suggest you try repeating with the stock stem. In this case "High Efficiency" as PV is using it is very different from what you are looking for I think. It's aimed at bigger clouds at the expense of herb consumption. It lets more cold air in, so the volume of the output is raised (at the expense of concentration which 'goes South').....just what you want to fill the WT and make big clouds.

Anyway, give the stock stems a try. I bet you'll get even better results.

My friend's solo got really hot recently. Hot enough to seem like it might melt the unit. Now the unit turns on, but it doesn't heat up. Is there anyone on the forums who privately repairs Solo's out of warranty that might know what the problem is? He is interested in having it repaired.

Another reason to buy from Puffitup:

My recently purchased Solo stopped working: Puffitup is covering postage back to them, and they are sending me a working unit as I type. I didn't have to International Mail it to Canada (to be fair, I don't know Arizer's problem resolution).

Wow, is that great service, or what?
