Yea I don't think I am getting the performance everyone else is bragging about. Don't get me wrong, the Solo does the job. I only get two sessions and on the charger it goes. Start at battery level 7 and it takes two stems to medicate. I do this twice/4 stems and on the charger it goes with only two lights lit if I am lucky. If I take this on the road I will have to get a charger for the car.
I fired up the EQ when the new wore off the Solo...WOW I didn't know how much I missed the Q! It uses more meds than the Solo but much better Clouds for me.

Flying Solo
This is purely anecdotal, I know, but I just got my Solo yesterday (my first vape ever ) and after plugging it in until it had a full charge, ran it on 7 until it timed out to get rid of any oils, then on 3/4 for a full session (my first use), then again on 4 for a full session, a 4/5 session, and then about a half session on 3 again before letting it get some rest for the night (went through 1 1/4 bowls/stems). Today it says it's at 4/7.

For those who are interested (although I've read many times that it doesn't actually mean anything), mine is labelled M1T0.

I can't help shake the feeling that this is going to be a long, happy relationship I am forming . Also, thanks to everyone in this thread. I did a ton of searching around FC before finally deciding on a Solo (I went from being sure I'd get a Davinci to sure I'd get a Pinnacle Pro, to almost buying an Ascent, to finally purchasing a Solo) and learned a lot, but now can start to contribute a *little* bit more to the discussions here!

so this is just out of curiosity, but it seems like the solo doesn't put off much of a smell, is it just because I get used to the smell while I'm using it? Ive smelled the burnt popcorn smell when I do a full session, but it smells nothing like weed (to me)

I live in a dorm and share a room with a roommate, and every once in a while I'll vape with the solo when he leaves the room for 10-20 mins (I always keep it pre-packed with fresh bud to save myself some time) but then I always get scared that he'll say something to me about it or tell our RA. He's openly expressed his dislike of his last roommate for smoking pot, but this was months ago when I always smoked off-campus (he doesn't know I use it). I know I'm very daring to continue to do it in my room, but its honestly the safest place (other then maybe my car) on campus.

To someone who doesn't vape, will they recognize the smell as being pot? I only take a few tokes per session so that it wont smell like burnt popcorn when he comes back to the room. I'm pretty new to vaping so I don't know the answer to this question.

It does leave a smell just not the smoke smell it's easier to disguise/disperse but there's still a 15 to 30 minute afterwards when it's still lingering if in doubt make sure you have a longer vape window

I'll have to play it safer from now on

Dude fuck that guy. Sounds like your roommate is a douche.

Outside of his issues with MJ he's a nice guy.. If we get caught with drugs in the dorms we lose our on-campus housing rights, so I guess I understand why he dislikes it

haha I think its just bad luck on my end, I always get stuck with a roommate who doesn't share my love for mary jane.. My friends on the other hand, they seem to have the best roommate luck in the world

I'll be getting my own room next semester, so then I'll be able to vape in the nude if I wanted to :D lmao

I don't follow. The fellow wants to obey the rules, not go to jail if his roomie gets busted (as we all know can easily happen) and abide by the agreement he has to live there. I see him as the adult here.

Yet you want to call him names?

The subject can be negotiated of course but let's have some respect for the rights (yes, real rights not the privileges we like to call rights.....) of a fellow who is abiding by the rules and only real sin is not agreeing with us?

He has every right to expect his roomie to abide by the rules he's agreed to, right?

I lived in the dorms my freshman year and had a similar experience, my roommate reported his previous roommate to the authorities for drinking. As soon as he told me that I pretty much completely avoided most interactions with him. I did vape in the room when he was gone and on 1-2 occasions he walked in as I was finishing up.

My advice would be to continue doing what you are doing, keep the sessions short/lower temperature when you know he will be back soon. Also maybe make a sploof out of a tissue role and some dryer sheets. I also invested in some of those Renuzit air freshners and kept them wide open all the time so our room always smelled like Peach. Best of luck!

Guess we have a difference of opinion (like how would anyone know unless he is advertising it and also why would anyone care including the RA-most dont). Lets leave it at that since this is a solo thread.

@Scrappy34 a sploof is a great idea, they also make products like the smokebuddy that you might find useful. Another tip, pack less and take many low temp hits and hold it in. I do this anytime I am in a less than ideal location (hits come out clear, low smell, etc).

After rereading, I see that I misread what he said. I was under the impression that thr OPs roommate had threatened to tell the RA... which apparently is just an assumption on the OPs part.

That being said, anyone who tattles as such is indeed, a douche.

Also while I understand that both parties could lose their on campus housing (I always lived off campus), I highly doubt arrest is a serious concern.

This probably won't make you faint with shock.....but the profs were smoking in the 70s too. (Definitely not vaping though!) Hey, if you believe Animal House, they were smoking in the early 60s...

Back on topic: I find the Solo leaves very little in the way of odor...maybe a bit more than the FF (when it's sealed) but way less than the MFLB, for a couple of personal examples.

only the person caught with possession would get kicked off campus, but I only know that because I work for the dorm also.. I'm friends with the RA's but I still don't know how they would react, it would be like I'm living a big lie to them lmao.. I'm actually a double agent ;)

I skipped the dorms when I went to Western Wash State College. My wife and I lived in a cabin in the woods by Bellingham, Wa. with a small generator for electriciy. In the back room was the growing operation. Too bad it burned to the ground before I really got it going.

I also agree the Solo has minimal smell. It also goes away quite fast.
However, if really want to be cautious if having a possibility of someone walking in. Keep a aerosol can of window cleaner close by. Just a brief spray puff removes what ever little odour there might be. I don't think mask but the aerosol has a static attraction which engulfs the odour. I don't think it would work so well with smoke. But not as suspicious (or smelly) as spray room deodorizers.

I wonder how the College/dorms in Colorado ( and other licensed states ) are handling this issue regarding MJ usage ?

Maybe you can light some scented candles , to mask the slight odors/vapors the Solo emits . Don't forget to clean your stems and oven .They also give off some smells .

Next year can't come soon enough for you .

I love the solo but....

the failure rate seems pretty 'high' (excuse the pun), between me and my mates we have returned probably 30-40% of our solos due to some sort of failure. Sad for otherwise such a good product.
It seems that the "new" charge-and-use model of Solo has a higher failure rate than the older ones, at least from what I can gather here on FC.

Re: serial numbers, I was poking around the beginnings of this thread again and saw a few mentions from people and retailer emails about it, guess Arizer was trying to log who was getting which serial numbers and selling them online or on ebay. Selling below a certain point and then not warrantying the units might make Arizer look bad so guess they're trying to curb that. So I guess it's just another lesson in "stop worrying about it."

Are you doing 1 stem per session? I can do 2 stems per 12 minutes if I try. Also a finer grind and having dry material helps. Might also look into the power adapter if it's one of the older ones that doesn't charge while using. Mine's pretty much permanently on it.

From my experience, opening my grinder up causes more smellz than hitting the Solo. My friends who don't medicate described the smell as burnt peppers. Also some bowls stink a lot more than others, same herb. Not sure why. It dissipates very well though, I vape in my basement with no windows available and the smell is gone within an hour.

I was reading the other day that because its still illegal to the federal govt that they still don't allow it. But they might be easier on the sanctions than my school is (located in the northeast)

Same way, by contract. You sign an agreement that says you won't bring a firearm into your rented home, right? Otherwise perfectly legal. Likewise, you agree to 'quiet hours' and such as well as a host of other 'ground rules'.

I get it it's no big deal to us. But a drug free home (and lifestyle) is important to some and they have rights too. Real rights, like the right to expect the contract is honored. I've known parents who would cut off funding to a son/daughter who's roommate got busted (by anyone) for drugs. I can see their kid not wanting partying going on.

Kudos to the OP who's trying to get along. I think the roomie has at least as many rights here as he does.....unpopular/common as that concept might be.

Best wishes to both. IMO it speaks well of the OP at this point.

Good point. I get the same feeling but our perspective from here is no doubt not all that good. Arizer is no doubt keeping an eye on it, if we see a model change come along I bet that's a clue.

In a way it's like how cops tend to look at their fellow citizens. If you've ever known any as a friend, and hung with them some, the constant dealing with the underside of life taints them no doubt in my mind. Look at the number of divorces for instance. In a way we're like that, we see way more newbies and hear more sad stories than average here?

Although at the end of this here day, I gotta agree with you Q man: There's an awful lot of smoke there, sure seems like there should be a fire at the bottom of it all. We've seen this movie before.

Thanks.
