I've had similar results using my boveda packs but some of the packs are the others. And I use mine with my collection of Cvaults. Either way, those packs really fucking work.

But my FF prefers that I keep my herbs in a JyARz for about a week before tossing them into the 'Fly. I can go straight from Cvault to FF, but I prefer the results when they've dried a bit.

In your case, I bet straight from jar to FF worked perfectly. :)

If you're a vaporist, and you don't own some combination of these humidipacks, mason jars, Cvaults, and JyARz, then I would say you should look into it!

After over 3 months of HEAVY usage, my FF power button is beginning to flake. But except for that and a few dings and scratches from travelling, this little fucker is holding up well! And trust me, I don't "baby" it.

i just raided the local Marshalls and found lots of glass jars with rubber seal, a la Mason Jar. But the rubber smells, something unholy, catalyst or somethin' !! been soaking them in soapy holy water. They writhe and shout profanities and blasphemies. Will they ever be well?

Buy a set of new rings for the jars.
They are cheap, and sold at Ace Hardware... or anyplace that sells Ball or mason Jars.
There are a few stores named Marshalls.
If is a craft store, then the jars and the rings are made from materials created for decorative purposes, and not meant to contain consumable goods... so they could have unusual odors.

I am really enjoying my FF. I have been getting perfectly even abv. This is my favorite portable to date. The flavor and efficacy are awesome. Incurred a small scratch to the queen's pretty red face, not bad but noticable. I really like the simplicity in it's design as well. I hope they come out with higher capacity batteries soon. I have to charge my 2 batteries multiple times daily. The length of my sessions vary by strain. Some strains I have gotten as few as 4 hits before it was done and others have ranged in the 15+ hits. So far so good with the seals in the lid. Also my battery cover has remaind tight fitting. I am completely satisfied.

Talking of deceptive FF colors in photos....FF posted this pic on their Facebook page back on St Patrick's Day. It's the dark grey, in a field of clover, with light hitting it. For some reason (perhaps the huge word "Gold" at the bottom) my brain read this for several seconds as a metallic gold FF prototype...and indeed the front section does look awfully "gold" with the way the light reflects off the surface. Anyway I told them I thought they should seriously consider doing a metallic gold FF...if it looks anything like my brain interprets the gold bits in this pic, I'm highly interested in this color.

I get dark brown ABV, but I wouldn't say it is very even. Any advice?

Gold-tone is the new black. Ever since Apple released the gold-tone iPhone it has become a major marketing trend. Personally, I'd like a pearl white FF.

I knocked my seal out of place being rough when cleaning it...i stopped using the wet naps that came with it and switched to a qtip with 70- 91% iso. Lightly wipe with both ends and it works like a charm. And no knocking the seal out

Grenco science has preloaded iso qtips or Gtips which i think would be awfully convenient for the FF especially on the go

Play around with grind consistency and packing (could be ur material is tok dry also in which case a boveda humidpak might help)

But definitely play around with everything...i prefer a medium grind (3-5ish full turns on my space case) fill it up to the top, and light press it down so its even with the top of the bowl. Or dont press it down at all. Thats how i get good results.

Oh and also play around with heat time. I usually just wait till i see it glow then start inhaling.

Just had my first combustion event with the Firefly. It was at the end of a load when I was trying to get the last hit and I guess I leaned on the button too long. I think it was just the combination of events, grind, timing, drawing technique, etc that led to the perfect storm. Everything normal again on the next two bowls.

Seriously considering a dark Gray cover to do a two-tone thing with my silver. Did anyone buy an extra cover?

I probably have a diffrent use patteren than most for my FF?. I finger grind a full bowl not packed. Put the top on, press the button and start to inhale immediately at a steady pace. After 8~10seconds I releaese the heater button and continue to draw for 5~10 seconds. This method brings me great flavor and visable vapor from the first hit. As others, I perfer shaken and not stirred. I shake the FF after every hit. Then repeat the above method, increasing the heater button time by a second or two as necessary. Untill extraction is complete. I don't think I've had to hold the button for longer than 15~18 seconds at the end of my session to complete the bowl. This works very well for me. ymmv. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the link. I will be ordering these very soon. Pure Genius!

Sorry to hear of your unfortunate event. Glad that everything is back to normal though, and it wasn't the FF. :)

You can also gently tighten the screws on the port assembly (not too much though) prior to cleaning...I noticed I only had seal issues when those screws were a little loose. Also if you press on the outside of the window while gently wiping it you will help keep the glass from rotating, which is what can cause the seal to work loose. (I agree that a gentle wipe with a swab is the best, safest way to clean it....have never had any seal issues with this method.)

I probably have a diffrent use patteren than most for my FF?.

I have concluded that no two of us have the exact same technique!

Hey guys. I ran out of screens. What is the exact purpose of The screen? I've been using it with out the screen for 2-3 weeks now and I noticed the stainless steel bottom has a brown color on it. Could this be from using it with out a screen ?

Sounds like residue on the stainless steel. If I were you I'd swab it gently with a q-tip dipped in alcohol to clean it up. I think you better get the screen back in there as it was designed, or residue may muck up the mechanics. Either order more from firefly or go in to your local tobacco store and ask for some. Get the stainless steel ones. I'm sure some of the guys on this board who have taken their units apart can better answer your questions.

Well today I had my second combustion event in 3 days. About the third or fourth hit I crumbled up and repositioned the dryer, finer material and tamped it down a bit. I was pressing the button and could feel the cool vapor hit my lungs. I let off the button and kept a steady draw and boom! Harsh, stinky smoke directly into my COPD riddled lungs. So is it my technique, or do I just have a "hot" unit that should be exchanged?

@vapin baby boomer Check out this post by @steama. There he describes how he got combustion. I would give care and see if somthing in your routine has changed. Draw speed, grind, dryness of material. Also I would check the operation of the heater button(check for a sticking button.) seal for the upper lid, port hole seal, and position of lower bowl screen. If you find no changes in your habit, and everything with the device seems good. I would call FF support, @mitchgo61 reported in this post that his was functioning perfect and then wasn't. Hope this helps.

Personally, I have been able to get horrible tasting very dark abv. But have never had any combustion with my FF.

That does sound like the issues I was having...the sudden, immediate combustion out of nowhere. Weird that you experienced it after the button was released...something was obviously burning already.

I personally would call FF if you are concerned about it, and if it happens a third time, I would definitely call them. Better to get a replacement than live with it.

Thanks guys. I just had a session and all was good. No combustion. I think once you learn how to get a big hit, if you don't let up it can get out of control. I think control is the key. I'm learning to let up at the right time to avoid combustion. If I find that it keeps happening though, I will be calling them, but I'm pretty happy with the device.

I was bored last night and did this video. A pinch of medicine finger ground. I think I had already taken 4 or 5 draws before starting the video. No draw, heater engauged until 30 second auto shut off. No combustion bareley a slight color change. Just how convection should be. I love my Red Queen!

can anyone who has made a warranty claim on the firefly tell me how the procedure goes? do I have to send it first before they send out a replacement or do they just repair the same unit and then mail it back? If its the second option then I might be without a vape for who knows how long???

I think it depends on the problem. When I sent mine in they told me they would look at it and then decide whether to repair or replace it.

The day they received it they looked at it and decided that replacing it was the best option, then sent a new one all on the same day.

I sent my old one on Monday, I had a new one on Friday.

As others mentioned, it depends on the problem. I will say this...if you have a major issue that requires replacement vs. repair (like, say, combustion, or something fundamentally wrong with the heating element) and you get a bit whiny on the phone with them about having to live without your FF for five days or whatever, they might just send you a new one without waiting for the old defective FF to get back to them. (I'm not advocating whinyness, mind you, just that when this happened to me, and I got a little verbally bummed on the phone with them, they called me back to say "you'll have a new one tomorrow".)

Good luck!

FF sent out my replacement immediately when I had an issue...without receiving my original one. Now that may have been a unique response but they will talk you through the procedure...

As many have mentioned, the customer service is outstanding.

Good luck.
