How to make shatter cleaner...winterize?

I'm trying to make sure my shatter is purged correctly and get all the unnecessary waxes out that may cause health damage. Either way if they serve no benefit I don't want them in my system.

With dispensary bought shatter, what can I do anything to it to make it cleaner? I read about winterizing, is that something I can do? I'm still confused on the process, but people make it seem like ti is very easy.

any and all recommendations welcome!

BTW I buy TC Labs (Denver) concentrates, usually their shatter. Anyone try it? it seems high quality to me, no bubbles, very transparent, not the cheapest either. What's your take?

Thanks!

I'm stuck in prohibition land so no dispensary goodies for me, but any process you apply to alter premade goods usually involves applying another solvent, which by your other posts I believe you would find unattractive, so without that application, heat is your only option, and without activating Actives, heat can only be applied so far. Hope it helps

winterizing is an option and will clean it up, but winterizing small amounts can be hard to filter. if you dissolved a gram of shatter in some ethanol, you would want to use as little ethanol as possible (at least i would). that way there is less ethanol to evap which in turn also means a faster evap. then you would want a way to efficiently filter the frozen unwanted stuff out. i have found this to be difficult, but only because i did not have the right stuff to do it right. gravity wont cut it here. it needs to be forced. if i were to attempt this again i would invest in some syringe filters. get yourself a nice 10 or 25 micron filter, dissolve the oil in ethanol, let freeze overnight in the syringe, attach filter and well you know... filter it. filter it directly into a pyrex dish or some slick sheet/mat and evap away.

I would probably be doing 2-3 grams at a time. where can I find these syringes? how would I get the shatter into the syringe?

Thanks!

I can see clearly now the smoke is gone...
Not trying to be a prick. But you should just use them as you get them. With your basic knowledge you could quite possibly make it worse.

I would advise you to go to Skunkpharm, youtube etc and get the basics of bho extraction down first. Then you can decide if further processing of your oil is necessary.

you would have to dissolve the oil in ethanol and then simply suck it up into the syringe. then cap it, freeze it, filter it, and finally evap.

as deadheadbill suggests... do more research before attempting anything. u less you have money to play with of course. sometimes jumping right in is the best way to learn. just be sure you are being safe. solvents can be dangerous.
